This is my husbands go to barber shop. He has been coming here for the past 5 years when it first opened. He is very picky with his hair, and he is always totally happy and satisfied when he gets back from here. The prices are awesome ( 19$ for haircut ) And there is a reason why it is often quite busy ! These guys accepted me without an appointment! I was visiting from Washington, DC and badly needed a haircut. I called them and they said, come in! I got there around 3pm on a Saturday, and they took me in quickly. My barber was friendly but not overtly so, and gave me exactly the haitcut I wanted. From cut, shampoo, blowdry to style, I was in & out in 15min! Granted, only waited 5 min with 3 stylists busy & 2 ppl waiting. Was worried about my commerical plates in alley (max 30min). Definitely feel of the old-school barbershop, cozy feel. Almost felt Commercial-drive like with the 'soccer' game on their big screen. Will repeat with Shawn next time, great at making sure a few times if I wanted shorter & sure made me look 10 yrs younger ;) Below the main library, across fr McDonalds. [ Nice people, quick and fast service, worth of money ] I have been there two times for my haircut, but I never make reservations so I had two very different experiences. The First time I got my haircut with Simon, it was absolutely great. He listens to what I ask and did an awesome great job. The overall haircut remains 4 weeks and still looks great. I think I'll try to make a reservation with him next time instead of just walk-in. The second time I had my haircut with Eva, unfortunately, this is one of my worst haircuts for a long time. I seriously believe she can do a better job because overall done by clipper and I look no style after all. I have to do some adjustment myself back home and I still look like a 70 old man with a boring haircut. I feel awful just looking at my haircut right now. I've been coming here since Simon opened. Summer days you can see it lined up (almost out the door) with good reason. They're quick, but always a great cut. I usually just get my head buzzed and my beard cleaned up/trimmed but wouldn't consider going anywhere else. - go somewhere else - I called first to inquire about the cost of a haircut plus beard trim and was told the beard is included in the haircut. The staff were inviting and I was seated promptly. The barber (george?) took good care to be thorough, and did not force too much idle chatter, which I was grateful for. Unfortunately I had made particular requests regarding the beard which were completely ignored. I had informed him I was growing it long and just wanted it shaped and he removed close to 80% of the volume and length, leaving me with something short and awkward. In addition, the shaping was sub-par and he left patchy regions. He rushed through the neckline and it was not straight. I went home and shaved it clean off. I will not return, and given the large volume of competition in the area I would not recommend this barbershop to others. Mostly I am displeased with being deceived over the phone, as I was charged $10 for the beard trim while paying, after being told twice that the trim was included in the price of the haircut. If I lived in the area I would have returned and demanded a free hot shave, perhaps this might have changed my perceptions, but alas... read more

Not bad. Walked in for a quick haircut (I'm still looking for a regular barber after deciding to split with my last one), and he was very efficient. He asked me how I wanted my hair, and he did it within 10 minutes. He wasn't chatty, which was actually fine with me. Not too much fuss here: he didn't clean the chair after the last client (again, I didn't mind) and didn't ask if I needed hair product after. Gentleman, I've been in Vancouver for a year, live downtown (Yaletown) and haven't seen a better shop. I get a haircut once a month and have short hair. I don't care about getting the salon experience and appreciate good value (~$20) for a non-First Choice/Top Cuts hack job. If you're the same this is a no brainer. Simon and his brothers (family run establishment) are pros - and value customer service (showed up after closing once and they still took me in). No appointments necessary and they are OPEN ON SUNDAYS 10AM to 4PM despite what Yelp says. read more

Two stars for cuts other people were getting. Waited with my son for 40 minutes. He starts a new high school and we were pumped to get him a new look. Once it was his turn, He was seated in a chair, the man looked him over, then asked him to back and wait for the lady (who does kid cuts). Sad way to treat a young man. After that he was quiet and embarrassed as you are at that age. Said nothing as he didn't want to create a scene and ended up with a juvenile trim. these guys are legit. If you're looking for an nice fade at an amazing price, you can't go wrong. I've been going here regularly now for about 1.5 years. the trick is to find the guy that works for you, as everyone has their preference on which barbers are best. The owner is super nice and friendly.
