But unfortunately, this time we got a bit disappointed. Platter was filled with cheap/frozen fries that I don't event want to put it in my system. The server looks cute but doesn't seem to be knowledgeable when we had questions (and keep forgot our requests..) I support local businesses and hate to say this. But probably I may not come back anymore as now there are many other fusion bar options available in North York. *This is only personal opinion, and your experience might be different. Each dish has elevated twist, and the price is so reasonable and even generous for the quality. Cocktails are excellent (lots of line-ups). They also serve nice choices of local craft beers on tap. We ordered: (Food) #Cast Iron Baked Brie fresh baked brie with house-made wild berry compote, candied pecans, prosciutto, garlic crostini $17 : This served as perfect appetizer for 3 of us. Enjoyable. Variety of ways to enjoy the baked brie. #Canadian Striploin 7oz striploin, garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables: We tried different & great steak dish here before, and this one is also EXCELLENT - the on-point seasonings, perfectly med-rare. Roasted veggies and mashed potato leave its own flavour and texture with right amount of seasonings. #Stuffed Mushroom Ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms, tossed in a beurre blanc sauce, topped with fresh Parmesan: I wished the ravioli itself had more mushroom-forward flavor, and the wrapper had more delicacy (in terms of thickness and texture). However, I loved the beurre Blanc sauce - it was foamy - making the butter-ly and creamy sauce feel light in the mouth. Nice hint of tangy-ness. #Herb Crusted Salmonwith garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables, and beurre blanc sauce: The same sauce as ravioli, that matched with salmon well. (Cocktails) #Fig Fizz: With Durham distillery Gin, Raspberry Liqueur, fig jam, lemon juice, honey syrup, soda # Lavender cosmopolitan # Passion Prosecco Martini # Spicy Hibiscus Margarita All the cocktails were presented beautifully. Today's highlight was Spicy Hibiscus Margarita. (Dessert) Chocolate Espresso Martini Cake rich vanilla cake, mascarpone, house-made chocolate espresso mousse $10: Essentially, tiramisu. lol. Nicely presented. This place is versatile for us. Just for snack, just for cocktails, just for local beer, and elevated food experiences. Promising satisfying experience in each occasion. So blessed to have this place in my neighbourhood.

If you compared the menu picture and actual drinks you can tell It doesn't look that great. The drink was very heavy on syrup or soda because there was no alcohol in it. I should've just gone to a chain bar to be quite honest. The vibe wasn't bad in terms of music and set up. Im quite surprised the non-alcoholic drink my girlfriend got was over $10. It's just sugar syrup! The service is pretty poor as well. Once the drinks were dropped, we never heard from our server again. The bill came and we got charged 13-15% service charge. It was a bit unfair to be paying that when the menu didn't have any disclaimers about this charge whatsoever. Sketchy bar! We were also told once we seated that we would get charge a cover fee because they were having an event later that evening. Like what?! Clubs downtown would never charge cover if its before a certain time for people who were already in and they were going to charge us after they sat us down? Highly don't recommend unless you just want vibes. LOL you can get vibes anywhere else you go to be honest.

I came to Dou Yin Bar aka DY Bar during their Soft Opening the past Saturday. My friends and I had a great time! The live music was very entertaining. This night, the duo were singing mainly popular mandarin songs that we know. Occasionally, you will have some brave souls that will take over the mic for a song for two lol. The food is alright - Popcorn chicken and Cuttlefish balls are typical items we see during Asian karaoke lol. I say skip the Ham Egg Noodles, unless you are SUPER hungry, the noods were way too soft for my liking. The cocktail drinks are super pretty and some were quite delicious. Since it was BOGO free during Soft Opening (until Nov 10), we ordered all 10 cocktails lol. I would recommend Kimochii, Berry Lady and Snowball :) The staff hardly speaks English, so make sure you speak slowly and use simpler words. Bring a friend who can speak mandarin would be helpful. If you want one of those nice booths with white couches, the staff mentioned it is minimum spending of $300, but I'm not sure how it works if you have a larger group. Perhaps, the next UYE here?

More recently, one of MY closest friends held his wedding reception just down the road (at Casa Deluz Banquet Hall) and instead of a dance floor at the end of the night, he booked one of the party rooms here for the afterparty. From the outside, this plaza looks like your typical, sketchy scarborough plaza but the first time I walked into this place I was blown away at how nice the interior was. The lighting is extremely cool and the decor is very fancy. Service is prompt and friendly. If you need a battery change for your mic(s) or ring the service bell, you get a person almost instantly in your room. The washroom is clean enough haha. I've been to some KTV places with REALLY dank washrooms. This one is clean and smells relatively fresh. Also, someone in another review mentioned that there was a lingering cigarette smell. I've been here a bunch of times and there's almost no cigarette smell. Visitors are pretty polite here. Most ppl that want to smoke, I see them go outside and having a smoke outside before coming back into the lounge. I will say, they do use a popular touch screen system for choosing songs. I would totally bump this review up to a 5 star rating if they kept the song list updated (Bar+ on Yonge St downtown has the most constantly updated song list I've ever experienced). There were a couple new songs that I tried to find but to no avail. I think this is the best karaoke place uptown in the GTA at the moment if I'm being honest! They are very honest w/ their minimum room charge pricing and they also have a killer happy hour special deal throughout the week if you're not booking a room on a weekend. It will continue to be my go-to place for karaoke as long as they don't increase prices.

We ordered the Lychee Bliss and Smokey Sapphire. It took almost 20 mins before we received our drinks and by the time we got it, our dinner table was ready. My only complaint is they added a large ice cube in the coupe martini glass which I have never had before in all the martini style glasses of cocktails I've had (very odd to us). It left very little room for the actual liquid which only gave me a few sips. My partner did enjoy his at least.. Besides the long wait and downside of the added ice in my drink, the bartenders were great and the space inside was quite nice.

Sometimes you walk into a place and you instantly fall in love…read more Lonely Diner is just such a place. It's got this '70s rec-room basement vibe that I personally find completely irresistible. If I had a house, I'd want at least one room that looks exactly like what Lonely Diner's got going on. And fortunately, the drinks and food live up to the incredible atmosphere. I started out with the Haw Yeah ("Rum blend, amaro meletti, pernod, hawflakes, high octane black sugar falernum, mulberry grenadine, lime"), which is a delicious spin on a typical tiki drink. I've ordered it twice now, and it's satisfied me completely on both occasions. Another favorite for me is the Lucky Numb-er 8 ("Gin, pomello & lemongrass gentian, cocchi americano, dry vermouth, sichuan peppercorn tincture"), which is their spin on a white Negroni. It's so damn good. It's packed with flavor and definitely reminds me of a Negroni, but like better than any Negroni I've ever had. If that wasn't impressive enough, the food is terrific too. I tried one of their specials, the Wasabi Fried Chicken Sandwich ("Sichuan peppercorn battered fried chicken with a wasabi spiced caesar dressing and anchovies on a brioche bun"), on my latest visit and it's so, so good. The perfectly cooked and impressively juicy chicken is accompanied by an incredibly flavorful assortment of accouterments. I inhaled it, pretty much. The servers at Lonely Diner are super friendly and helpful, too. I love Lonely Diner. I hope it sticks around for a long, long time.
