This is a beautiful oasis in the Bronx. If you'd like the pleasure of going to a botanical garden without the sometimes overwhelming crowds then come visit Wave Hill. There are the greenhouse and outdoor gardens as well as the wooded paths to explore. They have a small cafe to grab a coffee, lunch, or snack as well as lovely gift store. Check out their website because they often offer special events. This is also a great space to just take a book, grab a seat, and enjoy the view.

Wave hill is a beautiful place where gardens flourish , bunnies hop, variety of birds fly , dragonflies dance in the air , and a variety of trees shrubs and flowers say hello! I felt like I was lost in another world. You can roam wherever you like . Great place to take pictures of throw an event or even go on a romantic date. I took a bus and a train and walked a lot to get there , and by walking it was a little strange to find . I would recommend going by car for easier access. The attendants at the ticket booth were helpful and nice. 10.00 is definitely worth coming here , you can stay as long as you like and just take everything in.

Wave Hill is such a gem! Unless you live in Riverdale, it's not exactly easy to get to but it is absolutely worth a visit. The art program is also very good but the gardens are absolutely lovely.

This summer, I finally checked off Wave Hill Garden from my NY list. It is a gorgeous and expansive garden with an overlooking view of the Hudson River. Dress cute for photo opps! My friend and I went in the dead heat of July summer, so it was a bit difficult to enjoy without feeling weighed down by the weather. Luckily, there is a small cafe inside with A/C so we took a break there. If I lived in the area, I would probably visit more often as it is a trek from Brooklyn. We visited The Cloisters as well on this day trip since it was in the same area and took a cab to Wave Hill after. This is definitely worth a visit! Pro tip: The garden is on the Culture Pass with the NYPL/BKPL - so you're able to get a free admission with guests.

What a find here in the Bronx! Wave Hill has gorgeous gardens, historical houses and a killer view of the Hudson. The property was built by a lawyer named William Lewis Morris in 1843. In 1960 the property was deeded to the City of New York and became a public garden. Theodore Roosevelt and Mark Twain have stayed here. There are 3 main buildings: Wave Hill House, Glyndor House and the Perkins Visitor Center & Shop. Wave Hill House Cafe has a wonderful terrace to drink coffee & bird watch from. The Pergola overlook was my favorite spot, then the wild flower & aquatic gardens. There are woodland trails and art exhibits. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I used a culture pass, but if you do buy an entrance ticket it can be applied towards the daily tour. This is an impressive place! Highly recommend it! Especially once the leaves start to change color.

Overall rating: 4.9 Unfortunately I have only one picture of this place & it doesn't do it justice. Highly recommend! I came an hour before it closed & it was not enough time. It's a bit smaller compared to another garden I went to, but two hours is definitely enough time. Definitely a great spot for a mini photoshoot with your friends. Best in the spring with flowy dresses. Great for couple photos & if you're a loner to read a book. Highly recommend & worth the trip (even from BK ;))

Favorite neighborhood gem, beautiful in every season. Came last week, a little late for foliage watching but still worth it. Good path for walking, lots of trees & flowers, with a breath taking view of the palisades. They have a gift shop, clean bathrooms & place to get little snacks. Our entrance is free using culture pass. Theres a fee for parking. Its accessible by Bus & there's a shuttle to the subway.

Wave Hill is a stunning garden that spans 28 acres just outside of the city. It is beautiful to walk around and there are galleries you can visit alongside several gardens and green houses. There are lots of areas to picnic and sit and relax and a beautiful overlook over the Hudson River. There is a cafe as well that has farm to table food. Highly recommend to visit. There is parking on the grounds but it is easy to find parking outside as well.

This place is a little out of the way to get to with public transportation. I had to take the Metro-North train to the Riverdale stop and then walk from there. Wave Hill is very similar the three botanical gardens you find in Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn. It is a large public garden with a diverse variety of plants, landscaped gardens, and a greenhouse. The best part of this place is the view of the Hudson River you'll get. I would not say this is a must see for those without a car, but it is a beautiful and very peaceful place to check out nonetheless.

What a beautifully maintained garden and cultural center right here in NY. Only 12 miles from midtown and was only a 20 min drive for me to get there. They have free parking but it's a bit of a hill to walk up. Otherwise you can pay (I think $10?) for parking at the front. I booked my ticket online in advance (that's the only way to do it right now). The ticket is good for the day. I was lucky I went on a weekday when there was no crowd at all so I had the place almost completely to myself to enjoy. Loved the garden and view. The gallery is currently closed for renovation. There's also a nice picnic area with tables if you want to bring your lunch. Enjoy!

This is more than an art gallery. This is a community space! I love Harlem because of places like…read morethis and the people who run it. I was immediately welcomed by the staff, who remembered my name and checked in on me throughout my visit. Members from the neighborhood were hanging out, discussing the upcoming event closing, their churches, and poetry slams. The exhibit I went to see was expansive and beautiful. Truly exceptional art focusing on amazing black souls and black bodies. Harlem is full of soul and will welcome anyone who wants to come. This gallery is worth a stop, and I'll be back now that I know how awesome it is! PS: it's free!

According…read moreto the gallery's website, Owners Phyllis + Dodji Gbedemah went on a trip to Africa in December 2018 and were inspired to create the richness they witnessed on this voyage...hence Kente Royal Gallery was born. The Gbedemah 's labor of love in the birth of Kente Royal Gallery focuses on community building by stressing the importance of returning to Africa + using traditions to help us continue to move forward into the future. How telling and empowering a message! Kente Royal Gallery is located in the one of the most mecca focused, deeply rooted and vastly rich African and African-American Historical places - Harlem, NY. The gallery is also cool because it is right next to a delicious eatery that I have dined at numerous times- Ponty Bistro! Visiting Kente Royal Gallery to view fabulous artwork and then going to Ponty Bistro's for Brunch, Lunch or Dinner is a good day/evening outing experience. Kente Royal Gallery has an easily accessible entrance with large front windows so that passerby will want to eagerly walk in and view the artwork and goods inside. We had the pleasure of going to Kente Royal Gallery last month to view the "Fire + Soul.: 100 Years of Harlem" Art Exhibition that was there from 12/3/21 -1/3/21. We happened to catch it the day before the final day and it was such an amazing exhibit! Artwork on display were from Artists including: Anthony Boone, Khalid Sabree (focus on Jazz + The New Harlem Renaissance), Sophisticatedcookie, Rudy Collins (focus on Black Influentia/Prominent Figures like James Baldwin), Ricky Day (focus on Harlem Brownstone Architecture - Harlem Scenery), Magdala Charles (focus on Female Empowerment + Freedom), etc. My favorite masterpieces at this exhibit were those created by Artist Daryl Daniels that focused on everyday people and the illustrations of children on the bus were so cool! Artist Amber Lodman discussed her artistic inspirations and detailed the process of how she creates her beautiful artwork. Ranging from, colorful, bold Harlem Afrocentric pieces to Minimalist Pieces, everything was gorgeous. Special thanks to Owners Phyllis and Dodji Gbedemah for their kindness and it was truly nice to meet them. Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, masks and social distancing are stressed and everyone vwalking throughout the gallery seemed respectful of these requests. Kente Royal Gallery has a gofundme page - gf.me/u/y25zzp in order to raise funds for their ongoing efforts for assistance in during the pandemic.
