What a treat to be Brooklyn just in time to see the Cherry blossoms explode across the grove. The garden is quite expansive and it took a bit of a stroll to get in far enough to the tree promenade that completely overwhelmed you with bursting color. After drinking in all the color, we meandered to the Koi and Japanese garden, rounded about the see tulips in their full glory and snuck out a side door. So I will start off by saying this place was underwhelming. I feel like the cooler events happen at their other location. I also never knew that if you lived in Brooklyn you were able to get a discount and possibly attend free, they definitely do not disclose this. Even my kid nephew said it was expensive for the amount of $$ we paid to get into this park. The park is small, there are a few interactive things for kids to do along the trail. Little tables with interactive tools to enjoy nature. It was just not as fulfilling to me as I expected. This is a nice botanical garden. I think my opinion is skewed that I came in spring and there weren't a lot in bloom except the tree peonies, tulips and azaleas. You can spend a nice hour or so walking around the various gardens. If you start at the Visitors center, there is a very knowledgeable older lady who will give you a great route so you don't miss anything. They have a Japanese, herb, Shakespeare, conservatory, rose garden. I enjoyed all the flora and smelling great flowers. The Conservatory is ok but I've seen better. Adjacent to prospect park this beautiful space opened in 1911 . The visitor center opened in 2012 . There are cherry trees and over 14000 different plant life in 52 acres of space. My wife and my favorite time to visit is spring bloom and a close second is a more recent introduction called night scape Where you discover the garden at night under the stars and selection of lights in the garden during the holiday season which makes it extra special. read more

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens is located near Prospect Park, and is a over 50 acre urban oasis . Even though Spring blooms were just beginning to bloom it was well worth the visit. There are several specialty gardens like the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden and the Cherry Esplanade. The Cherry Blossoms were just starting to bloom and in a week or so they should be in peak bloom. The Steinhardt Conservatory includes the Bonsai Museum (one of the largest collections outside Japan) and separate pavilions for tropical, desert, and aquatic plants. We spent a few hours walking the gardens, and I would like to visit again to see the various stages of blooming plants and flowers. read more

Or snack or anything I paid $15 for the sandwich which was way below par that you could get in any deli in New York City. It's not a surprise as much that bothers me as it is quality just subpar you would think a museum in New York would have something more special. Came here on a Sunday and it wasn't super crowded. No outside food or drink unfortunately. It says the park was being sponsored by jpmorgan which permitted free entry if needed instead of the typical $20+ admission fee. We got a map of the park which was helpful and visited the bonsai area, desert, tropical, and Japanese garden area. The Japanese garden was the best!! The pond and walkway was so spacious and shaded. Such an ambient place and saw lots of ppl just sitting and hanging out. Really felt relaxing and a place to "escape." I definitely wanna be back in the spring when the flowers bloom, but there were still quite some colorful flowers in the hot summer/fall. read more

Cherry Blossom is upon us, but not quite yet. If you drop by this week up until May 11th you will get to enjoy the few Cherry Blossom trees. Not all Cherry Blossoms are blooming yet. Same applies to the rose garden. No buds yet. Brooklyn Botanical Garden is my favorite place to visit. Especially, when the weather is perfectly balanced. Not too hot nor too cold. Today's visit, decided to join my mom, second time and was just one of those days seemingly and unbelievably perfect. The weather was perfect. Despite the love I have for the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, I will have to say weekends aren't my favorite time of week to visit. Especially, when the weather is beautiful. Too crowded. Unable to move around or take pictures. There were lines everywhere you turned. Restroom lines were insanely long. The two spots to grab something to bite or refreshments made me want to think twice before getting on the line. For all you plant lovers, The Terrain which is the one shop in the Brooklyn Botanical Garden which is my favorite. Pricey. There you will find all types of plants and terrariums to build. The shop has everything from Air Plants, Succulents, Pothos, and exotic orchids to just name a few. Very cute shop, but can't stress enough to visit either early or during the weekday. Here are a few highlights to remember: Ticket price online versus upfront at the Botanical Garden are different. At the Botanical the ticket price is about two dollars less than online prices. I know people plan outings on weekends, but weekends are too crowded. Weekdays are less crowded and you get to enjoy and appreciate your visit more. The Terrain shop which I highly recommend for those plant lovers to drop by, but pricey. Cherry Blossoms are here until May 11th. If you go now you will see many Cherry Blossom trees already bloomed, but a lot more have not bloomed yet. Anytime between June and August you will have more to see. You may lay down or sit on the grass, but no blankets allow. Perfect date spot, with friends, family, and definitely solo. read more

There is a different temperature exhibit inside the conservatory downstairs. If you feel hot upstairs can always take a rest downstairs. There is restaurant inside and food for purchase. This was a wonderful day with the family. We had a nice tranquil walk in the Japanese pond and walked up to the shrine at the top. We walked around the Shakespeare garden and admired all the flowers while blowing bubbles lmaoo. It was really a nice day. We went to the Conservatory and got a drink at the Yellow Magnolia Café. I appreciated the beautiful flowers and plants. Especially as a new obsessed plant mom lol. It's been a while since my last visit though I'd like to come by again soon! It's not the largest garden, though they take good care of the plants and landscaping, and there are a number of different activities and events available to visitors and members. During my several visits here I had the opportunity to enjoy the garden in several key times of the year--early spring they hold a tulip festival, around April they put on a cherry blossom festival, in the summer it's pleasant to take a walk around the grounds and sit under the shade, in autumn the changing colors of the foliage create an altogether romantic atmosphere. Of the several specialty sections in the garden are the Japanese Hill and Garden around a small pond, which has cherry blossoms and Japanese maples planted around its perimeter. Cherry blossoms additionally line the Cherry Esplanade, an area directly behind and to the right of the Brooklyn Museum (which sits along the northern edge of Prospect Park). The Cranford Rose Garden flanks the esplanade, a medium-sized area which I haven't yet had the fortune of seeing in bloom. Their indoor greenhouse with tropical plants, desert flora and small bonsai trees is small but a gem. I once had the chance to attend a wedding here and they set up a lovely display of tables and lighting inside. Other than the above-- a rock garden, herb garden and discovery garden (more kid-friendly) are also situated on the western section. These areas aren't very extensive though they are well-maintained and enjoyable to explore. The location of botanical garden is along the north part of Prospect Park and together with a multitude of other activities like the Prospect Park Zoo, Boathouse, walking trails, Smorgasbord (certain days/times of the year), sports and fitness activities, playgrounds, and the Brooklyn Museum, you could easily spend a full day just hanging out in the area. Tickets are $22 for adults full priced, $16 reduced for seniors/students, children under 12 and members are free. You can also buy a joint same day ticket $34 full/$24 reduced for the Brooklyn Museum + Botanical Garden. During winter (Dec-Feb) weekdays Tues-Friday admission is by suggested donation. read more

I spent a truly wonderful afternoon at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden today. I hadn't visited BBG since childhood and I'm so happy that my friend Fawn invited me to go today. The vibrancy of the flowers were breathtaking and the grounds were immaculate and beautiful as well. I wandered through tranquil pathways lined with gorgeous flowers and trees, paused to admire spectacular and wonderfully fragrant floral arrangements, and lost myself in the beauty of nature. Brooklyn Botanic Garden - once inside, it's easy to forget you're in the city. The gardens are very peaceful and beautiful. Usually I go to visit the large pond called the Japanese Hill and Pond Garden. This time I went to the plant sale. I was busy during the day so I couldn't make it until late in the afternoon. The sale is located in a room just beyond the main entrance. I was hoping to find a few herbs or something. They had roses, orchids and an assortment of decorative plants. Many of the shelves were cleared out / sold out - go early if you're serious about buying a plant. Take a stroll in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden! It's such an oasis in the urban sprawl that is Crown Heights. The landscaping is exceptional and provides a relaxing, calming and refreshing experience. You don't need a whole day to take it all in; spending a couple of hours here will introduce you to wide array of species of flora in variety of settings - like the Japanese Hill & Pond Garden. My favorite thing to do is to take a stroll around the grounds then firmly plant myself in the lush grass and cool shade of the Cherry Esplanade. I definitely recommend a visit here! We came here when they had the holiday lights last December. I had been wanting to go for years and I'm now kicking myself we waited so long. It was absolutely amazing. I fully plan on coming back this year. If it was closer I'd be here all the time. I'd love to come during the day in the fall. The garden is across the street from Prospect Park zoo, so if you have time you can stop by. It is smaller than the Queens botanical garden so less walking but pretty cool. There is an eating area where you eat purchase food or eat your own. Kids under 12 has free admission. read more

We were here May 7 just a bit too early for the blooming season of the thousands of roses in the Cranford Rose Garden Stopped by the Cherry Esplanade with 200 cherry trees, which were not yet in bloom due to weeks earlier of wet cold weather. Dodged multiple classes of school kids at the Steinhardt hot houses with controlled indoor climate, enjoying cacti blooming, tropical water plants, but few colorful orchids. Extensive pathways along the Japanese Gardens, with wooden bridges and stone architectures amid orange and silver koi fish in murky waters. Tree peonies in bloom. Turtles suntanning on the rocks Saw Azaleas, Spanish Bluebells, Rhododendrons and Magnolias in full bloom. Spent 2 hours here, arriving at 1145am and leaving at 145pm. Would go to the New York Botanical Garden in Bronx if it were more accessible by subway. Last here in May 2022 when senior admission was $12. 33% increase in 2 years. Not even my home in Silicon Valley has risen that fast. read more

Admittedly a little early in the season for an ideal showcase of the garden, the BBG was still a fantastic addition to our trip. The grounds themselves are beautifully laid out and we were lucky enough to catch some crocus in bloom. Walking around the Japanese pool was lovely. The Shakespeare garden was super interesting (even if most of the examples weren't in bloom, there were little plaques names the plants and which Shakespeare plays in which that plant was mentioned). Can you imagine having a conversation with my after I visit during peak bloom? Intolerable. We came on a Saturday, early April and the space is so vast and open, nowhere, except maybe under the few blooming cherry blossom trees, was too crowded.
