Watusi genuinely felt like walking into someone's home for a home-cooked meal. The service was excellent--everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely excited to share their food with you. That enthusiasm really came through in every dish.
We ordered the ribs with hot honey, Knuckle Sandwich, mac & cheese, and collard greens, and everything was packed with homemade flavor. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, but the mac & cheese was easily our favorite. It was exactly what you want alongside BBQ: thick, creamy, super cheesy, big noodles, and just the right amount of spice to make it stand out.
The Knuckle Sandwich was definitely unique. Maybe my childhood is influencing me here, but the flavors reminded me of a Cantonese char siu bao--which I absolutely loved.
The restaurant itself has a very eclectic feel, and the location is a little unexpected, but honestly, that's part of its charm. We actually found Watusi because our car mechanic across the street recommended it, and I'm so glad we listened!
