Phoned the place and spoke to the barmaid on who wasn't sure whether they were showing it or not. They took a telephone number and called back to say they were. Decent service from the off but it's in their interest as we would have headed to the fox and hounds to watch it if they hadn't called back. They were showing it through French channel which meant the commentary was in French. This was odd but originally it was football with music which just didn't sit right so it was changed for French commentary. Whilst there we ate and I had a delicious turkey brie and cranberry toastie and some soup. Pricey though at £7.00 but they always try and fleece you round these parts. The old dears got a better deal as they do a two course senieor lunch for £10.00. The crafty buggers got 1 starter, two mains and 1 dessert. Which was more than enough between them, what they had I can't remember I think it was something fishy so I didn't try it. Again it was a while ago so I can't remember what they had but the starters and desserts were delicious. All in all they were happy with quality of food and portion size. The place wasn't busy so there wasn't much of an atmosphere but all in all it was good visit. If I was 40 years older and eligible for a seniors lunch it may even have got 4 starts as with the cost of the normal menu the seniors deal really is good.

At the bar you can buy a bottomless draft soft drink that would be refilled on presentation of your glass. One thing that most places that I go to lack in is properly trained or polite staff, in this place staff would say to enjoy your meal, we had a guy come to check on us several occasions. Food was a 5/5 I couldn't fault these guys, our only issue was that we ordered desserts to go and was given the wrong ones, if it wasn't for that they would have got a 5/5 rating.

I was nearly put off my dinner the last time I visited Maxims and saw a customer so fat, his head looked like a tiny little bean on top of his huge fat body. I asked my niece why she shows this place for her 16th birthday, her response was that there was…read moresomething for everyone. She wasn't wrong, but like all pub grub chain menus it was vast and it looked a little ominous for my tastes. I ordered off the early evening menu which limited my choice, but I wasn't fussed. My wife's nachos arrived first, it was an impressive looking platter. Then the garlic bread arrived it was a pretty bland affair, but not burnt and actually quite tasty. My burger was brought and actually it was delightful, I'd added the cheese and bacon. The bacon was crisp as was the accompanying veg. So much so, I ordered a brownie and ice cream. Now it's not going to win a Michelin star, but it's certainly better than some of the other chain pub grills I've been in recently. So while my average for such places would be three stars, this one isn't bad and rockets to the heady heights of a four.

You cannot beat the Beefeater for burgers. You can't. It's a fact…read more I come here at least a couple of times a month and take advantage of their Beefeater Rewards Card which allows points to be saved and exchanged for money off vouchers or special offers. All good value. The food here is of a very high standard. Yes, it's a Beefeater so the menu is limited in the sense that there'll be a lot of red meat but there are still some fish, chicken, pasta and salad dishes too. The focus is on steak and burgers and so it should be as they do it very well. The restaurant is part of a hotel/pub/restaurant complex with a Premier Inn (in Newton Mearns?!?) so the clientele is varied between the traveler and the local and there appear to be a lot of regulars from the local area (always a good sign). Here are some points of interest: 1 - Hobgoblin on draught at the bar 2 - Bottomless fries 3 - This was the last Beefeater to be given an individual name.

Xscape on a Saturday is like the end of the world…read more Pretty knackered after some climbing though and some food was in high demand. Unfortunately, the eateries were horrendously busy except for Potters which was just quite busy so we ended up here. I was delighted to try somewhere new though, having tried most of the places in Xscape so far. It has a really nice warm interior and comfy seating and good service, with our waiter being polite, curteous and speedy, without being too in your face. The prices were on a par with Frankie and Bennie's, but with more of a British sort of feel to the menu. I opted for Gammon and eggs which was really really good and the missus went all out for a 10oz rib eye steak which was fairly spectacular and cooked to her liking. Good portions as well with enough on the menu to consider coming again. Not cheap, but nothing in Xscape is. A good option for a wee treat on the grills section of the menu in a nice comfy setting with good service. It got hefty busy by the time we left though, out the door just long enough to fix my jacket before they were prepping the table for new customers.
