With stylish and contemporary décor and spectacular views across Loch Lomond, the atmosphere in the dining room is rather special. The maître d and our waiter were both really friendly and knowledgeable, the sommelier whilst perfectly professional was a tad cold. The food was all of the quality that you would expect from a single starred restaurant, with two or three of the dishes worth an extra star at least. The wine list was excellent and includes a reasonable selection of whiskies and fortified wines too.
£75 gets you the 6 course tasting menu and a supplement of £15 an additional cheese course. On paper this seems overpriced versus what you'd pay in Manchester. However we counted 10 proper courses including the cheese, which is couple more than you'd get south of the border for your £55-75. So like the drink prices the menu is expensive, but not overpriced. Likewise the optional service charge is 10% and not 12.5%, so it all comes out in the wash. Plus... you're in a castle.
