I went in to buy a 56' skimboard. They had the best prices in town for a brand new Zap Fuse with a nice selection (which is rare for a 56' size). All boards listed as new are actually new and not resells. Also an authorized dealer for Zap!!! Huge store and selection for all board types too and all prices super fair. Amazing crew and service there as well. Was approached by a couple of workers and when I was checking out I was given a sticker and key chain for free. Do not go anywhere else for a surf shop in Tampa Bay Area. This is a TRUE surf shop not a big corporate store or ripoff tourist shop. Will be buying all my "beach" gear from here. read more

I stopped here to price paddle boards. This store is a lot larger than I thought it would be. I asked about the paddle boards as I arrived. One of the sales people took me to the paddle boards and made sure to show me the different locations to find them, point out the prices, and answer questions that I had. She also told me about their opportunity to try the paddle boards on Saturdays. So I'll definitely be checking that out. They have a large selection of swimwear and beach supplies as well. I mentioned that I was going to look at what they had, and the lady showed me an area where there were some clearance markdowns. There were many options for clearance clothing. I found so much I could have spent money on. They have changing rooms to try on anything you may want. When I checked out, the man at the register seemed he may be the owner. He also told me about the Saturday program to try their boards and kayaks. It seemed like the place is a small family run business. There were two other young men that appeared to possibly be brothers as well as the older man they all looked as if they may be related. While checking out. the older man gave me additional discounts. I did not expect that. It was very nice. By shopping their clearance, I walked out with two board shorts, and two shirts for about $100. These are higher priced brand names. I never would have found such prices in other places. I will definitely be taking friends and family to see this store. read more

These guys are amazing! I came in to buy a paddle board and wasn't exactly sure what I needed. As I'm a shorter guy they initially set me up with a really nice 10.6 foot Bote model with a basic paddle. Prior to settling on that board they took their time with me and pulled down several different boards explaining the differences and at no time did I feel pressured to pick anything specific. They provided me a military discount, threw in the required USCG life preserver and a waterproof case for my phone. I opted to pay a little to upgrade to a better paddle. They also threw in a nice set of straps for free and helped me tie it down for the drive home. After two rides on this board I decided it wasn't the right board. It was great when I was paddling alone but if I put my dog on, she goes just about everywhere with me, we were right at the weight limit and it was very unstable. When I called back to explain they were amazing to work with. They exchanged it at full value for a longer 12.6 foot board of the same brand that is more stable with both of us in it. There was no run around or problems what so ever when exchanging. When I did the exchange I also bought a soft rooftop rack from them and they took the time to show me how to set it up so that it was secured properly without damaging the board. I really appreciated that. I will be buying all of my water toys from them for the rest of my life and honestly can't say enough good things about them. ( Not much in fishing or scuba )Plus clothing and all misc beach wear & accessories. In fair disclosure my pro and expert kite surf pals all shop here. The owners brother and him started TackleShack ..must be 30 yrs ago or more on 66th St in St.Pete. Still there.... Then years ago the owner left TackleShack to do his own shop and the result is WaterSports West. Always has nice young people ...polite..knowledgeable and eager to help and answer any questions. A1 on customer service. If something isnt right they will make it right...should you need to return a defective item. While this may sound like a fake review I assure you it is not. Bought a 10ft paddle board here a week ago before testing it out. Took it to the water & tried it - turns out it wasn't a perfect fit for me. I wanted more stability, I just wasn't getting it on the 10ft board. I Called the store up & they suggested coming out to their free "demo day". I tried several boards on demo Saturday morning & found a much better fit. They swapped out my board, gave me full credit on my return & put it towards my new Bahia SUP. The service & knowledge of the staff was outstanding. Steve (the owner) was at the demo day, this is a local business w/ a huge selection.
