A good place for a coffee, breakfast and such. The furnishings mean that sound doesn't get absorbed so it can be noisy. The staff could have been more observant but they are friendly and competent. read more

The chairs were a bit low for the tables but the table was the perfect height for my dad in his wheelchair. Service was polite and friendly, didn't have to wait for long to order. Coffee and pastries arrived very quickly and were great quality. Very tasty coffee and fresh pastries. Reasonably priced too. Didn't order food but saw it arriving to other tables and it looked really nice. Will be back. *Disability accessibility comment: There is a step into the cafe which would have made wheelchair access very difficult has we wanted to sit inside although I didn't ask if they had a ramp so I'll give them benefit of the doubt there.

We had planned to have an afternoon tea at this lovely little café while visiting Newbury. We…read moredecided to go for a quick lunch, a couple days before the planned afternoon tea. Well, it was a good thing we did, since we didn't get to go back for afternoon tea... Just as the name suggests, it is located right by the canal. It was very picturesque, peaceful and relaxing. They also have seating upstairs, and had histories on the canal, with photos posted all around the wall. Their cakes looked amazing, but I decided not to order any dessert on this day. Yes I know, a big mistake! Our friend ordered Heavenly Hot Chocolate, and it looked so pretty! We went with Teashop House Blend Tea, and Earl Grey. The young boy who brought the teas (I hear this is a family-run business) was trying to very careful not to mix them up. But the funny thing was, he totally mixed the tea up! LOL. We didn't realize until half way through... I thought the House Blend tea tasted so much like Earl Grey. For lunch, we had Ham, Cheese & Chutney Sandwich and Eggs Benedict. They were both tasty, nice portion, and filling. Our friend went with something healthier, and ordered one of their vegan sandwiches. It is nice to have that option if you want or need vegan dish. We had a nice quick lunch here. It was adorable and cozy. The food was good, not amazing, but good. I think the sweets might be better than the actual food...I will never know, unless I go back! Lesson learned: don't never expect your plan to go just the way you planned them...and have your dessert first!

Was told by the person who served us that there was new management who had implemented non- payment of cash. I asked the staff member to relay my thoughts to the manager and she said there had been plenty of complaints. I told her that I would definitely not visit this place again. Appalling to be told how to pay for goods and hope they have more complaints. Cash is still legal tender and I do not understand how it is legal to refuse any form of payment.
This is very small but super cosy coffee shop in Croydon that only opened 10 days ago, however…read moretheir coffee is great - they seem to be real professionals when it comes to coffee and tea! Owner also sells different tea including puer tea. For now they serve Alchemy Coffee which smells and tastes amazing - it's a place worth to visit if you are real coffee-lover. I've been looking for a good coffee in Croydon for ages and finally found it in Crushed Bean! Soon they also going to open sitting area downstairs that will be possible to hire for private events as well. Prices are more than affordable - £2.20 for Latte and just £1.20 for fresh baked kiwi square, such a bargain! They are working closely with The Bread Factory based in Hendon for a great choice of pastries and snacks on offer. There are also hot and cold sandwiches that looked yummy if you are hungry. Service is great as well - guys who are also the owners are very friendly and know what they are doing, wish them good luck and hope they will soon grow into a chain available all around London. Definitely recommend!

The ale selection on tap was a little odd - I think 5 pale ales plus one amber ale, in December, with no dark ales at all but the Kernel export stout in bottles was delicious if a tad pricey. Apparently it's often on tap so keep an eye. The Christmas burger was incredibly good - the combination of camembert, cranberries and mustard mayo brought so many surprisingly complementary flavours and fundamentally the meat itself was fantastic. Best burger I've had in a while. I liked how there is a video games corner - a comfy sofa in front of a tv and you can borrow mario kart from the bar! There's also table football and pool and it got very noisy as competitive spirits rose, so caution if you're looking for somewhere really calm, but overall I'd love to come back here and will try to do so as unfortunately it's likely to close due to some horrible luxury micro flat development killing the only thing in the area that would actually service the tastes of the kind of people in the market for a luxury micro flat. Will be a real loss for Croydon if that happens.
