A beautiful shop with a great, constantly rotating selection of wines. There's always something new and interesting to try, along with a selection of classic go-to options. Very knowledgeable yet unobtrusive staff who are ready to help whenever you have a question, but also give you space to browse at your leisure (lots of info on all of the tags!). I love taking a walk from my house to Waterfront Wines. It's a beautiful location right on the edge of Joralemon St & the Brooklyn Bridge Park. They carry some of my favorite French wines. They have many organic and biodynamic wines so a big plus for that. The staff is also very knowledgeable & I recommend joining their wine program. I have purchased a few red wines here on a whim that I have not been thrilled with, but that is a judgement on the wine not the store itself. read more

Somehow this place just felt right when I walked in. Maybe it was the clear way all the different kinds of wine were organized by country of origin, which I find useful because I tend to get lost with that sort of stuff. Maybe it was the cool old-looking wood that looks like someone ripped it out of an old building and then used that wood to build shelves and furniture, as if they reclaimed the wood in some way. I don't remember what the term for that is but I like it. Maybe it was the people working there that spoke as if they've tried every kind of wine they sell and could therefore talk about them in a knowledgeable, prescient, and sagacious way, which reminds me that I should not only open my own wine store someday but should also stop using on my thesaurus so much. Maybe it was the fun bottle of Grappa they had, plus some unique whiskeys. I bought a unique whiskey. And a red wine. Can't wait for the park to fully open! Waterfront will definitely be one of my regular stops on the weekends. read more

Just wanted to say that this fantastic wine store saved me on Thanksgiving Day when I needed wine for the potluck dinner I was attending in the evening and everything else was closed! Thank you! This store is a gem. Beautifully laid out, you will linger in here forever. They have an amazing selection of wine, with prices starting from $10. It was helpful to have a display of wines in the middle on a table for bargain wines, all under $13. I was cash-strapped that day so to see that they had an affordable range of vino was much appreciated! When you're not in the mood for wine, they also have an interesting range of spirits. From sake to whiskey, you will find something you like. The staff here are friendly and helpful. They helped make my decision much easier when I was torn over a few bottles of white. Eh... Great wine selection at every price, but the people that work there are kind of snobby. I've tried to spur conversation or ask questions but I just get short answers and a straight faces. Also I get all these emails about tastings and sometimes I go but there is nobody leading the tasting and you have to go find them to ask if you can taste the wine/liquor. It's very weird and not warm and inviting at all. I don't dislike this shop but it's certainly not my favorite... read more

Ben and Josh were truly fantastic. I went to Waterfront to get wine and liquor for my wedding on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the neighborhood, and they didn't disappoint. I actually started by visiting two shops in Brooklyn Heights, and Ben was by far more approachable and easier to work with. (It was a small wedding, so the buy wasn't thousands of dollars, but he still treated me like it was). The food was the most important part of our wedding, and they totally got that the drinks needed to pair really well, while staying in my budget. I gave Ben our menu, and he went out of his way to suggest pairings and make sure that I was comfortable and certain in my choices for the wines that we chose from our tasting (no buyers remorse!) I don't have the most sophisticated vocabulary to describe wine, but he was right there with me anyway, and helped me find two reds and two whites that were perfect. (And totally on budget--did I mention that? No sly up-selling when I didn't love the first suggestion). In fact, they have an entire table of great wine for less than $15-20. It's a great place to find great new, inexpensive bottles. He also went completely out of his way to help me put together a bourbon + scotch tasting bar, tracking down an obscure bottle that he could only find from a Jewish distributor--in the middle of the high holidays. (Tomintoul 16--try it if you stop by and they still have it--it's super-smooth and won't disappoint). Can't say enough good things about Ben and Josh--definitely give them a try, whether you're looking for just a great inexpensive bottle or a whole event's worth of wine and liquor. read more

I ordered a bottle of 1946 birthday wine to be shipped to Ohio. I needed it by a specific day. On the day it was shipped the recipient changed location and Matt was able to re route the package but he also tracked it the day of delivery to let me know it had been delivered! He let us try several bottles and had tons of unique options in our price range. Great selection of smaller production, more interesting wines. You'd think it would be an expensive store, but actually they have a lot do really good wines under $15. What I like about the service there is that they are really knowledgeable and really take time to help you, but are not too pushy and not at all snooty. I've gotten just as much good advice when looking for cheap wine for a party I was hosting as I did when I was looking for a really nice wine to give as a special gift. Just moved to the neighborhood and happened to stop here after a walk. While they don't seem that welcoming, they really know their wine and buy interesting stuff that isn't in every other wine store. They listen and always introduce me to something new. Now this is a wine store where the people that work there are all super nice, knowledgeable, and appear genuinely eager to make sure you take home something that you're really going to like - whether it's from their awesome $13 and under table or if looking for a higher end Bordeaux. Most of their wines run from the $15 to $20 range and are all really cool selections from producers I've never heard of. It's not the same old wine shop, for sure. The spirits selection is small but very well thought out, and grows every time I'm in there. I'm a total regular now and have yet to have anything that wasn't good! And there's certainly no wine store in Brooklyn with a better view. Maybe that's why they are all so cheery all the time! read more
