I ordered the Valentine's pre-fixed menu to be delivered to our room since that day they were doing dine-in for just the club members. So I can't tell anything about the restaurant services but I will focus on the quality of the food. My selections was, Proscuitto Wrapped Portobello as appetizer, Roasted Red Pepper Soup, and Porchetta Pork Tenderloin. For My L, I picked House Salad and Chicken with Goat Cheese and Lemon Ravioli. The desert to share was an Amaretto Cream Puff with Raspberry Coulis. I was impressed with the Roasted Red Pepper Soup and Porchetta Pork Tenderloin, 5 stars!! My L was not too happy with the Chicken with Goat Cheese and Lemon Ravioli, not because there was anything wrong with it but she is not a fan of Goat Cheese and the ravioli didn't have enough chicken. So I think my picking skills didn't shine that day. But the desert was delicious!! Additionally we dined inside a cabin in the woods in a very romantic setting. Our evening was shockingly bad and I regret my decision to eat there which had been based on the resume of the chef. It was an evening out for a birthday so was doubly disappointing. The waitress cannot be blamed for the poor service, she had obviously not been trained. How can a supposedly reputable venue not have a drinks/wine list. When we requested champagne we were told only Prosecco was available .... how can that be possible?? The poor server had no clue about what wines were on the menu. The polyester tablecloth on our 6 person table70", was actually for a 12 person round table, it billowed about our legs and could have tripped us. One steak had been burnt rather than seared, the broccolini was soggy and nasty, the mashed potato tasted old and it was cold. We were given a small discount when I complained about thewe issues. The waitress failed to ask if we wanted a dessert and brought the bill without us requesting it. Such a shame that this erstwhile good restaurant has become such a poor establishment. read more

I don't know about other golf courses or the restaurants (if there are any) in other country clubs/conference centers, but I ask myself how on earth they managed to put a classy place in Hartwell, Georgia. Don't get me wrong - I love it. But, class is not something I would normally expect to find here, and yet -- I do. Shiny hardwood floors, quiet and romantic ambiance, efficient service, a warmly cracking fireplace separating the bar from the dining room, and a softly bubbling waterfall at the entrance. I've had both the chicken and salmon dish here, and I must admit that both were very tasty. Also, the crème brûlée is delic! Also, the coffee is good. read more

We had reservations for 7 pm. Was seated at 7 pm. 715 pm they had not taken our drink order. We ordered at 730. By 810pm nothing. We noticed were the only party of 2. We realized the wait staff were tending to the larger tables first. We walked out at 8:30. So don't go the the Waterfall grill unless you are at least a party of 4. I would rate the 0 stars if I could. They will not see us back. New management started a few months ago. Service been going downhill since. I have never left a negative review on a restaurant. Went here for this first time on a Thursday night, not to crowded. Our table ordered crab cakes, blackened salmon, shrimp and grits everyone seemed to enjoy. Only downfall was that when a crowd of 10 golfing buddies came in for drinks they sat them directly next to our table of 4. They were so loud we couldn't hear our own conversation as this table of 10 over powered us. Maybe the hostess needs to look at this when seating, as I mentioned it was not to crowded and she easily could have seated 10 people in other empty areas of the resturant. read more

Enjoyed a nice meal and drinks at the cateechee bar. When closing out our ticket the owner came by and spoke but proceeded to tell us how local Hartwell people were not the clientele he was trying to attract. He prefers out of town guest because they spend more money!! Mr Schell, you devalued my money my time and my community... it will be a good long while before my face is seen in your bar/restaurant abut apparently you won't miss my money. Im writing this so other local Hartwell citizens will know that their money is not valued by you and there no need for Hartwell to support your establishment. Enjoyed a wonderful night out at Waterfall Grille while visiting Lake Hartwell. My wife and I enjoyed fresh seafood dishes, including grilled salmon with sweet potato mash and broccolini and spicy New Orleans Cajun pasta. The service was great and we enjoyed the view by the window, overlooking the golf course. The menu was well priced, including their Canyon Road house wine. The fresh baked cookie with ice cream was also very enjoyable. Will definitely visit again next time we come to Lake Hartwell. read more

Cateechee is the nicest place to eat in the area. Yet you can go in wearing a nice pair of shorts and fit right in. There seems to be a robust bar business here. We've been coming here for several years so we have seen many changes. The club is under new ownership but we didn't see a lot of changes since the previous owner. On the weekends there is always a prime rib special. My husband and I both had the 8 ounce prime rib. You can also opt for a 12 ounce cut. It was good. It came with two sides and was served with au jus and horseradish sauce. The menu has something for everyone. From soups to sandwiches to burgers to entrees. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. Our server tonight was Alyshia. She was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. She checked on us often without being overbearing and had a delightful personality. I would recommend asking for her. The crowd here tends to be a more mature crowd. It seems like there are many regulars. If you are looking for a consistently decent meal this is the place to go. read more

There are not a lot of places to eat up here. So maybe based on what is here it is more of a three star. But it just isn't good. Expensive dishes and blank taste. Add that to water downed drinks it adds up to two stars. I have tried this a few times with the hope it will get better. It just doesn't. read more

Definitely the place to eat in the Hartwell downtown area. We frequent Cateechee for dining at least twice monthly. Service is 100% and food is 120%!! We love having dinner then sitting up at the bar area or on the terrace just outside the dining area (overlooking the greens/golf course). Will be back for the food and scenery!! read more

I am pretty disappointed with Cateechee. Growing up in Hartwell, I always felt like it was a fancy place to go and have really good food. My mom and I and my one year old son went to lunch there today since I haven't been to Hartwell in a while and it's been years since I've eaten at Cateechee. Our burgers were really over cooked (charred and dry) and the sweet potato fries were tasty but came out cold. The service was really friendly! My mom said the pimento cheese and her fried green tomato were really good, it was just the burger that made it all taste burnt. The worst part of all... I ordered my son the kids mac and cheese ($3.50) and it is 100% kraft from the box. I added a picture of it. I really, really want Cateechee to be successful and I want there to be an upscale restaurant in Hartwell, but they have got to do better in my opinion. I hope it only improves from here!! read more

This is as good as it gets near Hartwell GA. I confess that I am a member here, but we have tried most, if not all, of the restaurants near Hartwell and Cateechee is hands down the best. They also feature a very nice bar which has about a dozen draft (and craft) beer selections, a nice wine list, and good liquor by the drink. And, the prices are reasonable, at least by Atlanta standards. The menu is continental with a range of options from beef to chicken to seafood. It's great for date night or to just grab a sandwich after golf. I highly recommend. read more

Recommended by a friend, we went for dinner and have to say it was the best meal I've had in Hartwell. There aren't many decent local dining options, but this restaurant did not disappoint at all. We went on a Thursday night, and they seemed busy, but we did not need a reservation. The ambiance was relaxed, friendly, and very cozy by the fireplace. The crab cakes were delicious, and the grilled salmon was perfectly cooked. Skipped dessert this time, not much for a sweet tooth. My only complaint was that I chose a baked potato instead of mashed, and it was slightly over baked. The shrimp and grits were also very tasty. Will definitely go back. Service was good, and attentive. Also saw their menu for breakfast buffet, definitely going to check that out soon too. Don't bother. The food was was definitely not worth the price. The shrimp and grits had a sauce that did not compliment the sausage and the shrimp was over cooked. The ribeye ($30) was paper thin and tough and came with a cesar salad that had a dressing that was tasted like straight vinegar. Very disappointing. read more

I took my daughter here for her 21st birthday dinner. We were meeting half way from where we each live. This was the nicest looking place I could find. Dinners seem to be the other restaurant choices, or fast food. The menu had vegetarian options which we needed and the pricing was very reasonable. The GPS directions were wrong and it seemed the staff knew about it but there was no notice on the web site to say not to use the directions. The staff / hostess were very friendly. The building is beautiful. Great chandeliers, lighting, architectural details. It's lovely. It was a cold night and the bathrooms to the dining area were freezing!! Wear extra clothing. I heard a couple asked to be moved due to the cold draft. The hostess (who was wearing a winter coat inside) said no. The food presentation was nice, it "looked" fancy. However, the quality wasn't very good. My dessert (chocolate torte) served on a very large plate with fancy garnishes looked impressive, but the taste did not live up to the appearance. It tasted as if it had been in the freezer much too long. My daughter got pecan pie. It was similar in quality to a grocery store pie. My favorite veggie is grilled asparagus which I ordered as a side. This was okay. Not great. My daughter, a die hard pasta lover, did not enjoy her pasta - a first! Upon comparison we discovered they were both seasoned with pepper. Not much else came through. It's a great place for a nice occasion given the ambiance, but the food is little more than Denny's in quality. However, the price seems to match the quality. Restaurant is well-staffed & attentive. We visited on an early Friday evening and was seated immediately and told of the nightly special. I went here about 5 years ago and it is still excellent and well-maintained. Hard to believe such a nice place can make it in a rural area with a struggling economy! Had the special - trout with lemon pecan cream sauce. Outstanding flavor, generous portion and there was no skimping on the pecans. Enjoyed my pomegranate Cosmo as well. Kids meals were only $3.50. Prices are steep for quality and consistency of the food. Best appetizers is the seared tuna and on most occasions this has been great. Atmosphere is great, not sure how they keep the doors open because during the week never see more than 10 diners over the evening hours. Chicken wings look they came from a chicken that hadn't been fed in couple of years so save your money here. Friends say the she crab soup and salad is best deal on the menu. Many of their entrees are good, pricey but on many occasion has been hit and miss on quality. All lunch offerings are 10 bucks and here in this country town really not a draw except for the atmosphere and alcohol offerings although that can be pricey also. Would also note this isn't place that you can stay and party after 10pm, even on NY Eve your out the door by 1230. read more

I have dined at Waterfall Grille many times. Since the new management took over it has been very good until tonight. The restaurant wasn't very busy and we were seated right away without a reservation. The server seemed new and not very well trained. He was not knowledgeable on the specials but did go to kitchen to get the answer to our question. It took awhile to get our drinks. It took 50-60 minutes to get our food. My sweet potato fries were cold and I returned them the second order was hot but very tough with no flavor. They were not fresh. During the wait for food the server never checked on us. He had another very large table and other small tables. I had to ask to not be charged for the fries. He did offer to get me a different side but I was almost done with my meal and I declined. After we were done eating no one came for over 15 minutes to clear the plates and bring the check. I will probably give it another try since there aren't many choices in Hartwell and really hope it's better! read more
