Shops like this you go for the service. The one on one personal touch. The proprietor gives the very effective vibe of a clockmaker. Right down to his sleepy demeanor, soft spoken tone, and friendly. Yet his meticulous, delicate touch with watches are juxtaposed to his Father Time nature. While watching him work on my watches, he gave jewels of wisdom on watches, their movement, and why they can sometimes break. I was there for over an hour, but to be fair, I came in with fifteen watches. Most just needed batteries, a couple needed repairs. So I can't say if it was pricey or not because of the quantity lol. However, I feel he's better served in a small brick and mortar shop littered with exotic clocks and time pieces, all ticking in unison. But that could just be me. I've been 3 times. Once the minute hand on my son's watch fell of for the 2nd time He wasn't involved with that one. He fixed it while we waited. He even had disparaging words about the guy who fixed it last time. Apparently they scratched it up while fixing it. The other two times were showing me the proper way to change the day/date on my watch, and the next was to fix the band after I messed it up. All right while I waited an didn't look at me as if I were the idiot I felt like. He's good. I took in seven watches, expecting the worst since I had taken my favorite into Penney's for a new battery on one and it wouldn't work. I had saved six months for that watch 20 years ago as a newly single mother. The others I had won at an auction with the exception of one my sister gifted me, and wasn't expecting much. I had actually won two more at auction, but they were working. I haven't had a wind-up watch in years so it took me awhile to figure those two out. I got to sit and watch Ali work. He is a master of time and a very nice, thoughtful, generous person. I highly recommend this business, not only for repairs, but for purchases. He has a beautiful array of watches, watch bands and jewelry in stock and does have a lay-a-way plan. It's never too early to start holiday shopping! The wall and mantle clocks were nice and I believe he had two cuckoo clocks on display. In the end, all but one watch was repairable. The unrepairable one looked like I had soaked it in the bathtub on the inside and we couldn't even get the face off to change the Swiss movement. I brought my watch in to have the battery changed. The man said that there was 25% charge on the battery, but I said, just put in a new battery since I was there. I was charged $16.23 (price not normally an issue) but the charge on my watch still show no charge - I think he put my old battery back in the watch and charged me for a new one. I am most unhappy about that. read more

Honest man who really knows his stuff. He let me sit down and watch him fix my Tag (not bragging -- it was a gift) and explained all that he was doing and why he was doing it. I was hesitant to go here because it was inside the HEB Plus. I don't know what kind of experience the shopkeepers have and if they are run by the "mother" store. As a matter of fact, I took the watch to Z&M jewelers, as they looked more experienced to me. Kudos for them. They referred me to Watch Galaxy because he had the tools and experience to fix it properly. I was surprised, because when he saw what was wrong; the hands had come loose. He quoted me a fair price, then offered me a seat and got busy. When he saw some previous tech had left scratches. He commented on poor workmanship. He was careful, dexterous, and done in less than 20 minutes. I would recommend him to anyone in need of watch repairs. One other thing, he exuded confidence, and talked about other stuff the whole time, stopping only when he had to pay close attention to his work. I was charged $29.99 for a battery instead of $9.99. I think it was because it was a 14k gold watch. Aren't all watch batteries the same regardless of the watch they go into. I am going to go elsewhere now. Disappointing. read more
