The Nuclear is my favorite: very spicy and full of flavor and fresh! I usually order veggies tempura also paired it with The Nuclear and wonton soup and I close it with friend banana ice cream!

Buddy suggest Japanese and I said yes, sadly he picked this place for the place in Hillsboro.... Got my standard Chirashi boy the Asian fusion wasn't the problem it was the quality of the fish totally MEH as was the rice. Nice ambience but MEH, buddy got a couple appetizers they were MEH too. Sat in the bar area booth and waited forever for the bar tender and missed happy hour by a few minutes and no go for happy hour... kidding me! Need to replace her as never came back to fill our water till we were done.

I think they're "special" dragon roll? And seared salmon

We have come here a few times at random. We have always liked the sushi we got. The edamame tossed in the sauce is good it seemed a little silly that it cost I think a $1 more just for sauce toss but we still went for it. The edamame was happy hour so it was about $2 off I think. We tried one of their monthly specials it was delicious it even had a lemon element to it, yum. Came with about 8 pieces I think. We also got 4 seared sushi's, again a strange extra charge just to sear the sushi, I think $1? It was yummy and good sized pieces of raw salmon on-top. We made it for the end of happy hour so our drinks were $2 off I believe. They were good but tasted mostly like juice. I think we would have been better off getting some hot saki! Service was good and I appreciated the large amount of ginger, considering we eat a lot of it with sushi. I've always liked the ambiance when we go. I think Thursday's would be a fun time to go because it's happy hour all day! Will probably go again at random, just a good honest review. Try em out!

Scallop nigiri, salmon nigiri... not sure what else!

The sushi here is great, but the appetizers seem to be hit or miss. Our service varies too, I find if you sit on the bar side they're very attentive... on the other side you'll only see your server when they're bringing you something. The place is well lit, clean, and very nice overall.

Berry MoTito. Tastes as good as it looks.

Place was empty and the service was horrible. Completely non-existent. Really disappointed

    Tea

When I first walked into the restaurant there was a strong chemical smell like bleach. I started having headaches right away. We chose to stay because my daughter was starving. We wanted to order some tea, it's $4 for a tea, I asked the waitress is that $4 for a pot or per person? she said it's per person. I told her that we don't want tea, water is fine. Then she said you can order one tea and I can give you 4 cups to share. I thought that's more reasonable. So I ordered one tea. But when I got my bill, it was $16 for the tea, I asked her why and she told me that each cup is $4. Wow! Then I found out there was a "staff wellness fee", I have to pay for her health insurance too? Wow!! Can I claim her as my dependent when I report my tax? But I didn't want to talk to her anymore, and that bleach smell was making me sick. So I paid and left but I will never come back again.

Great service and fresh sushi! They have plenty of seating and the clean facilities. I also like how they dressed up the outdoor seating for those that are more comfortable outside. Great customer service as well. That's always a huge plus

When I was little, my mom would take me to a Japanese restaurant near our house sometimes. She always ordered the same dishes: a plate of cooked, chilled and sliced fish roe (top with Kewpie mayonnaise), two bowls of Unagi bowls and a small plate of mix sashimi. It was just two of us, and it felt so precious because that was our quiet time without my father and sister! Fast forward, I have left home for over 20 years, and been stuck in the house for almost one year now. Suddenly a craving surfaced. "I want unagi bowl!" A voice came to my head, and my stomach agreed! So what did I do? I searched Uber eat desperately trying to find a Japanese would offer this dish in my area. Luckily, I found Wassabi. The order process was easy. I hopped on Uber eat and ordered a plate of vegetable tempura and an unagi bowl. Then I play a bit of animal crossing, left the house and arrived Wassabi 5 minutes before pick up time. There were many customers waiting in the car as well, that makes me feel more at ease. Very soon I received a text and went in to pick up my order. As i entered, i noticed the shop was clean, modern and spacious. Too bad the indoor seating is prohibited, otherwise I can see this is the perfect happy hour location! Anyways, I picked up my ordered and headed home right away. Let me tell ya.. there's a lot of food! I got two containers of tempura and there were still hot and crispy! The sauce had a slight tang to it, which is different than the one I'm used to. I liked it and devoured everything! The unagi bowl was soooo good! The presentation was very neat. It brings back another childhood memory with the dome shape rice. (Anyways!) The rice was cooked perfectly and the unagi was rich, soft, savory, and a bit slimy (eel lover would understand this ;-) ). It's everything I craved and dream of, and it made my mind, soul and stomach very happy! I'm smitten with my order and will totally order from Wassabi again! The only thing I'd do differently next time is to call in for my order, you know, to support local business!

    2 rolls / $12: california roll 8pc, scallop tempura roll 6pc (non-fried)
    Shirley K.

I ordered from their 2 rolls for $12, getting the California Roll 8pc and the Scallop Tempura Roll 6pc (but I requested it non-fried). I really like the deal on the pricing for the two rolls, however the taste wasn't great. The California Roll had a lot of rice and was kind of hard. I mostly tasted the rice, seaweed, then the cucumber in that order. The other ingredients were lost in the amount of rice. The Scallop Roll tasted a bit off. There was no scallop taste or any of the sweetness scallop normally has. I don't think it was bad, but it did not taste fresh and had a bit of a funky smell. I was excited seeing the pictures on Yelp, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with these two basic rolls. Compared to other sushi restaurants in the area at that price, there are other places I would rather go to.

    Lightning roll
    Joshua L.

Found this spot when looking for sushi restaurants that were open on Sunday's, which was nice. It was empty when we walked in, which would normally be a little concerning (especially at a sushi spot), but given current global issues, it kind of made sense. The service was great but the menu was interesting. They included a variety of Asian foods including Thai, Korean, Chinese, and of course Japanese, which I wasn't really expecting. We started with their Vegetable Tempura and Edamame. I've never had asparagus tempura but it was good. The edamame was pretty standard as well but comes in a huge portion if you're into that. There is a ton of selection for Sushi rolls although if you don't know your fish, you may have to do a little googling as they are all in Japanese. The portions are substantial. My typical standard of any sushi restaurant is their Sake Nigiri, but it seemed a little pricey so I held off. I ended up having the Spicy tuna roll and their Lightning roll. The fish was good, but not outstanding. Overall a decent spot if you're looking for sushi rolls, but a little expensive if you're craving just nigiri.

Over all it was a good experience. The service was a little slow, more considering that the restaurant was kinda empty. Food was good, the price is ok. They have a pretty good deal: 2 classic rolls for $12, so we got a pretty big order

    Mt. Hood Roll
    Rafia A.

Placed a pickup order for the Mt. Hood Roll. The person who assisted me over the phone was very polite and patient. Order was ready within the exact timeframe I was told, 15 minutes. As for the actual roll, it seems like they could have added more of the sweet sauce. I feel like when a sushi roll has cream cheese, it needs something to balance the sour aftertaste it leaves in your mouth. I will definitely order from here again, possibly even dine-in. I feel in comparison to local competitors, Wassabi is much more fairly priced in terms of the actual quantity of food.

If I were considering dining at Maru, this is what I would want to know. The staff here are so welcoming, they have really nice chopsticks, and the service is friendly. Beyond that, it is straight downhill. To call this a Japanese-food restaurant is not accurate. Besides the sushi, the food seems to be a mishmash of Chinese and American cuisine with Japanese names. We started out with an order of so-called chicken karaage. Imagine my shock when the server delivered a dish of deep-fried chicken strips with a bright orange sauce on top. This dish tasted exactly like Chinese sweet and sour chicken minus the sour. Instead of pieces of thigh meat, it appeared to be sliced chicken breast. This was clearly prepared by someone who has never seen or eaten chicken karaage. My husband ordered the bento box. I wanted to order one but all four options contained chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura neither of which I wanted. Hubs went ahead and got one with an assortment of sushi. It also had salad (which was a small handful of mixed greens) Can you think of what was missing? Yeah, rice! He had to order and pay for rice as a side dish for a bento box!! WTH?? No self-respecting Japanese cook would serve a bento box without rice!! I sampled the chicken teri. Oh my god, so dry and tasteless. It also appeared to be sliced chicken breast which explained the dry texture. Hubs said the sushi was fine, fish fresh and rice tasted okay. Oh heavens, now onto my sad dish. I ordered the unagi bowl, clarifying with the server that rice was included. It wasn't visible from the menu picture. She enthusiastically confirmed it was, and that the bowl had a ginger dressing. Yum, I thought. That was the last time for the rest of the meal the word "Yum" came to mind. What was placed before me was this: A wide, shallow bowl with a small amount of rice in the bowl part. It was covered with mixed greens and spinach straight out of a package, not prepared in any way. The unagi was sliced thinly and laid on top. All over the lettuce and seeping unpleasantly throughout the rice was a creamy white dressing with no discernible flavor. Like a drab ranch. NOT the promised ginger dressing. Unfortunately for them, I avoid creamy dressings and mayonnaise. It was a nightmare on a plate. The unagi was okay but a bit chewy indicating either a poor quality or undercooking. I tried to eat the rice and salad part but the dressing just overpowered the whole dish. I left most of it after picking off the unagi. Finally, the rice was not cooked long enough or was not Japanese rice. I felt so sorry for our server. She noticed I hadn't eaten most of my dish and asked me how I like it. I just said I don't like creamy dressings and left it at that. She was so sweet but clearly knows nothing about Japanese cuisine. And her cooks know even less. If you want good Japanese food, stick with Syun Izakaya, their sister restaurant, Sawa's, or Mio Sushi. If you want to play Asian food roulette palate-wise, you might have fun here.

The spicy tuna roll was simple, delicious, and exactly as expected. The ninja roll was okay, it felt like some rolls were packed and others it was just the tempura shrimp and rice. The salmon on top was also hit or miss, there was either a good portion or you'd get a thinner slice that was covered up with extra sauce on top (look at the picture). The Texas roll was so delicious, I just wish it was smaller. I can't eat the roll in one bite and so it breaks apart and everything falls out. If you've never tried a deep fried roll though...
