We received two appt confirmation emails from them and on the morning of the appt, Jenn texted me with an update that James her husband/Handyman was running late as the earlier appt ran long. James arrived about 15 min past the estimated time of arrival. James finished within the expected time. He was pleasant, efficient and completed the job which had been abandoned by the previous handyman. J&J was responsive and just simply a pleasure to deal with. We will absolutely use them again in the future!

This is an updated review for the services provided on 6/29/2023 at my mother in laws home located…read morein Rowens Mill in Fruitland MD. For the record before this incident I praised and loved working with Jenn and James as they were easy to work with and the prices were fair and they were nice to talk with I had used them for multiple jobs including a step railing repair/a garage storage rack repair that another company SRO2 installed totally wrong/We had them come and install exhaust vent covers to keep birds out/We had them fix some trim molding in our master bedroom so you can see we used them more than once as a repeat loyal customer I was. My mother in law decided she wanted to sell her home and some work needed to be done to the back deck who else would I call besides J&J Handyman and Services, I spoke with Jenn over multiple text which I will upload and I asked for James to come out to give me a quote they decided pictures would be ok so I sent pictures and videos and texted the work that was needed and we confirmed a price of $475.00 plus I pay for materials. Well the day of work comes and James comes out and tells me basically the price I was given by his wife and co owner Jenn was wrong!!! and that he could save us money by doing a better repair of the deck I agreed and he went to lowes and I paid for the materials over the phone, James returned to start the work and I left him be and I went back to work. Well I had not heard anything from James or gotten any photos stating he was done with the job, upon arrival back at the home I saw a little pile of trash and rotted wood that James had left and then found out that they charged my mother in law $414.00 for way less work!!! how is this a savings I texted James about my disastifaction with this job and the price and asked could either him or Jenn give me a call? NOPE!!! his response was his reasoning for the job he did and the cost it would have took to do it the way I thought we had agreed on, I replied with along message to James stating basically that we had a deal and as a repeat customer I deserved better and for the fact that I was trying to give them family referrals, well that was the last that I heard from Jenn and James about the situation, I am disapointed that I lost a good Contractor due to this incident as I have a ton of upgrades planned for our home and my mother in law always has a list of work that needs to be done. I have uploaded the photos of the conversations and the before and after photos now show me 414.00 worth of labor when I was a repeat customer plus I paid for the material the worst part like I have mentioned is they ain't reach out to me to try and make it right and now I have lost an amazing contractor!!!

The tiles don't match up, they were cut poorly, he didn't follow the pattern in some areas, there are mismatched grout line sizes (some wider than others), and you can see the squares of sheets in the pebble flooring because he was too lazy to lay individually. I went with him because of his pricing but now I am paying more than double for a redo. Total waste of money!

I hired Bill Addison Painting to paint my garage. He initially quoted $2,500, which included fixing…read morethe walls and making them look nice before painting. Since I'm not familiar with painting or wall repair, I asked my boyfriend--who has 25 years of construction experience--to speak with him about the scope and cost. My boyfriend, who is currently stationed overseas, was able to negotiate the price down to $1,800. Bill claimed that $600 of that was just for materials. Given that cost, I expected the walls to be properly prepped, primed with drywall primer, and imperfections repaired. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. While I appreciate that his team removed the old shelving, they left the hose mount on the wall and got paint on the door frame. They also failed to leave me the extra paint I had paid for, which I needed to address missed spots and repairs. I reached out to Bill via text three times. He initially said he would bring the extra paint but then stopped responding. I ultimately had to take a piece of damaged wall to Sherwin-Williams to get a color match and fix it myself. To make matters worse, when I expressed my concerns and asked him to speak with my boyfriend directly, he was dismissive and unprofessional. I've since had other painters look at the job, and they agreed I was overcharged for the quality of work delivered. Lesson learned: If you decide to hire this company, make sure you're either knowledgeable about painting or have someone experienced with you to avoid being taken advantage of--especially when it comes to labor and material costs.

I must say from the very start Craig, was a pleasure to work with, from our first meeting all the way through the process. He walked our property with me as I explained to him what it was we were looking for and gave insights and suggestions that were within my budget. Most contractors that came out gave inflated estimates and were trying to price with "add ons" that were not needed. Once we chose BR, Craig was top notch all the way. He was communicative, open, honest, and most of all......on time. I can not tell you how refreshing that is!! Most contractors I have ever dealt with are all over the place with time frames and scheduling (what's new right). But BR was different. Once contracted they gave specific deadlines and not only met every one of them, but were finished early!! Early and quality work they will stand by. Amazing in this day and age! BR workers were just as friendly and polite as their principle. I would highly recommend BR Design and build. I would choose them again and again based on this very pleasant and easy transaction. Craig Smith and his team at BR Design and Build are fantastic. Thank you!

Never in my life have I had someone who represents a company curse at a soon to be paying customer. Beware! I am a female as well which makes it even more gross that their male representative could be so ugly. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Edit to response: I called with questions I had pertaining to installing a cover on my pool. Every customer has questions. I need to make sure you all fit my needs if I'm going to drop $15,000-20,000 on a pool cover. I have every right to ask questions. You started right off the bat as crude and rude "what do you want' very unprofessional and disrespectful. I stand by what I say and I told you I'm studying different pool companies to see which on fits ME best. No doing a survey. Maybe if you actually let me talk you could have seen that for yourself! I didn't need to speak to someone who is just trying to make a quick buck and selling me the most expensive brand. I wanted to talk to someone who actually installs them which I kept tell you multiple times and you just kept saying "what do you want get to the point". Very rude and unprofessional. I'm done speaking with you. Have a nice day.
