He did my basement, and it was the shottiest job that could ever be done. He left corners crooked, unfinished window sills, raw holes in the ceiling where fire sprinklers go, jagged edges in one of the floors, sawdust all over the place, the list goes on. He did my full BATHROOM, but failed to mention that he DIDNT LEAVE IT FUNCTIONAL. I paid him $4500 for a completely unfinished bathroom that needs a minimum of $3000 of work just to make it functional. He left it without hot water in the sink, no running water in the shower, the toilet was unstable, grout looking like sh!t on the floor, and instead of putting the sink pvc piping behind the wall, his lazy a$$ left it in the bathroom and just drilled massive holes into and throughout our vanity. After asking for my money back, for that portion, he has ignored my emails, so lawyers are getting involved. Really makes you feel good when a plumber comes to your house and says "I hate to see this type of thing happen to good people, this man shouldn't have a license to work." As out of town landlords with a roofing leak on our house, my wife and I thought we would be at the mercy of the only roofing companies that would answer the phone. Most were booked out several months due to the recent bad weather, and from having briefly consulted for one, I have an idea how they dream up their estimates in such cases. I see others are having problems with Brian Boyle's business as well and finally posting reviews to counter the bogus out there. I love the online reviews that are by "Brian B" and even "HandyHusband." I spoke to a store in Annapolis Mall back when I had trouble with his work and they were exploring suing Brian at the time - same story as everyone else's (big talk, late/no shows, erratic behavior, poor workmanship, belligerent, smell of alcohol, then quits before job is finished and demands pay). Please look at MD court records under his name before hiring. approx. 32 cases stretching back to the early 90's and if you get tangled up with Brian, it looks like he knows how to stay just this side of "legal" so you will loose the case and your time and money on your home project too. That he seems to be showing a pattern of cheating and, in some reports, harassing (single?) females - and some elderly - seems especially disturbing. Brian attempted to bribe a five star review out of me for gluing one end of a towel bar onto my wall (5 minutes of work he called a "freebie") and since I forgot to write about his "amazing" work, he will no longer do work for me (after two jobs where I paid in cash). I received a text today saying "You were to post a 5 star rating, but didn't. I guess we are done." Called 3 times ... finally answered. Said to send him pictures of areas on the deck that needed to be fixed according to my home inspection from selling my home. I sent pictures. No reply. I called again. No answer. He texted back that he was going to pass on the job. Gee thanks. Way to stay in business. I don't get how he gets any good reviews. We have used Brian Boyle for several small projects around our family's Annapolis home, such as installing a new door and jamb, or building in a medicine cabinet in a downstairs bathroom. These are jobs most contractors won't touch as they are too small but Brian did them with grace, efficiency and on time. Brian has done several jobs around our home and it has always been a good experience. Shows when he says, does what he says, and kept to the budget. Awful, awful, awful. He came and spent abut an hour doing a walk through to take note of all that I needed done. Then, he said he'd be in touch. He didn't give me a firm start date or end date. He showed up one day while I was at work without calling to confirm. Obviously nothing got done this day. Then when I e-mailed to set up another day he "reminded me" that he only did handyman work on fridays. What?? I would have never hired someone who only worked on fridays as I needed to get this work done in a timely manner. I let him know that his communication was poor and I was going with someone else and he simply said ok. Oh, I forgot to mention that when he power washed one of my outside structures he bleached and killed all of my plants. I am typically flexible and give everyone a second chance. What a dissapointment and I'm left angry. Brian did 80% of the job and the other 20% was left. The sliding screen door he installed is crooked, not on the track correctly. It closes at the top and is left with a 4 in. gap at the bottom. He says, "it's supposed to be tight with bug protector". Every bug int he state of MD can come through it. The nail pops in my house are not all repaired as in his quote. He didn't provide any QA in the house before he left and on top of this he said some very inappropriate things about my chest. He says he'll come over to make it right the following week, that was this week. Crickets on his end. I spent good money for this work. They should call this company HandySwindlers.com. If you are a single woman out there looking for a good and honest contractor -- Brian and this company is not the one. I'm left with a screen door that won't close and nail pops in my house still exposed. I'm ticked to all end! Brian will take your check and cash it soon however! And...he texts me and tells me to "get a life" after I wait an entire week for him to come over to "make it right". Annapolis is a small town. Hope he doesn't do any business with any loyal military I know. FYI, when you tell someone to never contact you again on your cell phone which I did and they continue to harrass you, when you file a complaint and judge ask you if you told the person to stop contacting you and they wont, the Annapolis court house rules in your favor and takes that to heart in a restraining order. read more

I only have myself to blame for not "googling" Brian Boyle and Handy Husband prior to signing a contract with him for a kitchen renovation. He was very attentive on the front end, great price and eager to work with us. He claimed to be a "detail" kind of guy. "It's the little things." That sold me. My last contractor did better overall work but no attention to detail. Anyway, Brian built unlevel walls, his drywall work is terrible, no attention to detail, terrible communication and overall shoddy work. The cabinets in the kitchen aren't flush with the wall he built but Brian said, "It's okay because the countertop people said that it will still hold the countertop." That's great that the wall will hold the countertop but what about the way it looks? My husband did a large amount of the work because Brian did not read the plans properly, he installed cabinets in the wrong spots and generally cut every corner possible. In the end, he tried to charge me almost $1000.00 more than what the final payment was meant to be. He didn't finish the work and threatened litigation. I stood my ground and paid him less than what was due, however, it's not nearly enough to pay someone to come in and fix the things that he couldn't do or left undone!
