My husband and I are truly happy with our children attending St. Eugene. The school is well…read moreorganized and does exceptional with keeping the parents in the loop of things. My children are approaching their 3rd year attending St. E and from what they tell me and with my own personal observations my children have exceeded more than they ever have in their previous schools. Their teachers Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Nelson, Mr. Powers, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Scroggins & Mrs. Scott are all amazing educators. I am looking forward to continued education at St. E, I am even sending my youngest next year once she is at age for TK.

I feel like i need to say something about this school. This…read moreschool has given me a negative experience. There is really bad bullying behavior which now i can't even forget for as long as i live. the whole year i had at this school i suffered, because there is a group of bullies there from which even after reporting it doesn't stop. I am never coming back. a public school is better than what this pathetic excuse of a school is. I left this school with pain and depression, because staff do nothing to stop any bullying from happening. If you're a parent reading this - go enroll your kid elsewhere, for their own mental health. Sending your kids to this place will only destroy them, not to mention if they struggle and are stuck on homework every night, Unless you want your kids to be bullied and in pain. If you enroll them here and your kid comes crying talking about bullying, don't say i didn't warn you. You're going to waste money on a school that doesn't give a crap about the kids, when you could go somewhere else. send them anywhere but here, for this school is toxic and disgusting. In conclusion, don't go here. it's not worth paying a hundred dollars. - Kenley

An open letter to the principal, fellow parents, LAUSD school board and the superintendent:…read more I am a proud parent of a student from LAUSD, my priority is so support my child and the teachers/ school in the effort to provide an enriched learning experience. My goal is to partner with my child's teacher and ensure a safe environment, a support system for my child, my child's teacher and school. The question I pose is simply this; what do you do when the partnership is lagging on one partners side? On multiple occasions I feel I'm left in the dark as to what is going on at my child's school. Do I get a notice? Yes; however usually a few days in advance or if I'm lucky then 1 week in advance. The problem: I work full time and as most businesses require 2 weeks notification in order to schedule time off, then a few days or 1 week does not allow me to plan appropriately and I feel I do not get the opportunity to plan for success for my child or provide that support for my child's teacher. Even the little things like the Christmas shows or field trips I never get proper notification in order to request time off. This year my child's school was transformed into a school that requires uniforms to be worn Monday-Thursday with Friday being a free dress day, how did I find out about this you ask? Well a week and a half after school started, after we had already completed our back to school clothes shopping we received a letter stating that uniforms are to be worn Monday-Thursday. Doesn't seem like my partner (lausd) is keeping me in the loop properly now does it? Yet on the first day of school a small handful of students did show up in uniforms, now how did they know to buy uniforms yet i did not receive any notification in advance? No email, no phone call, not even a letter in the mail. Now I can say I have not been to the parent workshops where I'm sure this is probably mentioned and you're saying tisk tisk you can't point a finger if you're not going to the workshops, on that note why aren't you going to the parent workshops? My answer for you, because I get the notification the week of the workshop usually 1-3 days prior to the parent workshop and wouldn't you know it, it's at 9 am while I'm at work because I didn't have the appropriate amount of time (2 weeks) to request that day off or request a late shift. My partner lausd says it wants my support and most if not all parents should participate more, yet the amount of time most working parents need in order to schedule appropriately is being neglected? Where is my support? Where do I get the money to buy uniforms now? Is this letter going to change anything or fall through the cracks? Will I get excuses provided to me or will I get answers? Am I a single voice or do others experience this same frustration? Where is my partner in this partnership for better education, stronger support and an overall better experience for parents, teachers and the children...our children.
