I feel like i need to say something about this school. This school has given me a negative experience. There is really bad bullying behavior which now i can't even forget for as long as i live. the whole year i had at this school i suffered, because there is a group of bullies there from which even after reporting it doesn't stop. I am never coming back. a public school is better than what this pathetic excuse of a school is. I left this school with pain and depression, because staff do nothing to stop any bullying from happening. If you're a parent reading this - go enroll your kid elsewhere, for their own mental health. Sending your kids to this place will only destroy them, not to mention if they struggle and are stuck on homework every night, Unless you want your kids to be bullied and in pain. If you enroll them here and your kid comes crying talking about bullying, don't say i didn't warn you. You're going to waste money on a school that doesn't give a crap about the kids, when you could go somewhere else. send them anywhere but here, for this school is toxic and disgusting. I'm one tuition payment away from the end of the school year and I'm finally ready to do a review. This school is the best option for your child in IUSD. There's one Charter school on LaBrea that has really good test scores; however, St. Eugene is better organized and the children are happier. I also believe that if catholic schools were evaluated my the same tests as public/charter schools, then St. Eugene would win. I speak to my son's teacher daily and I couldn't have survived this school year without Mrs. Robles and Mrs. Valencia. Mrs. Robles is such an amazing teacher that I wish I could clone her. I'm looking forward to beginning the next school year with the 2nd grade teacher. Pulling my child out of Children of Promise and enrolling him into St. Eugene is by far , the best decision I made for my son all year! read more

My husband and I are truly happy with our children attending St. Eugene. The school is well organized and does exceptional with keeping the parents in the loop of things. My children are approaching their 3rd year attending St. E and from what they tell me and with my own personal observations my children have exceeded more than they ever have in their previous schools. Their teachers Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Nelson, Mr. Powers, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Scroggins & Mrs. Scott are all amazing educators. I am looking forward to continued education at St. E, I am even sending my youngest next year once she is at age for TK. read more

I absolutely love st Eugene the staff is now like family they treat your kids like their own. My child is one of the best readers and I have them to thank!!! One of my children attended from kindergarten until 8 th grade graduation now SHES attending a catholic high school. My child is currently attending first grade at this school with Ms. Elam as his teacher, and his education has been negatively affected because of the teachers lack of ability to teach the content in a effective manner. My child is not making any progress in reading, and her response when I spoke to her about it was that alot of the other students in the class are not as well. She seemed to have no concern about the issue. She consistently leaves the classroom early so that she can go take tests. While she is gone the students are left with a classroom aide who is there watching and yelling at the students. I understand a teacher wanting to continue his or her education, but it should not be at the expense of their students education. Additionaly she lacks the knowledge and skills needed to implement differentiated instruction for the students. She also lacks classroom behavior management skills. Her way of managing students was to send them to the principal for even the most minor behaviors, until I spoke to her about the appropriateness of what she was doing. Her interpersonal skills are also lacking as I have witnessed her speak to another teacher, parents, including myself unprofessionally. The principal is of no help as she is rarely at the schooI. I was hoping that a catholic schools would provide the highest quality education for my child and high expectation of their teachers, but unfortunately that is not the case. It is not worth it to risk your childs education on this school. I would recommend to any parent interested in the school to instead apply early, get on the wait list, and when accepted enroll your child in a high quality public school. It will save you and your family alot of headache and wasted money. read more

St. Eugene Catholic School has exceeded our expectations. Teachers are knowledgeable in current pedagogy and utilize research based curriculum. Teachers and staff set clear and defined expectations for students and expect them to model desired behavior. I've seen my kids self-esteem flourish at St. Eugene and their leadership capabilities grow. We've experienced public and charter schools. Update: 2020 No outstanding issues at this time. Granted the environment outside of the school could be construed as "ghetto," my g/daughter is apparently on task and moving forward. She appears to have a "love of learning" as other members of my family did while enrolled in school. Her instructors are receptive to parent visits and advice. I would, based on observation, recommend the school to others that are interested in private instruction for their child(ren). read more

My daughter and I are really fond of St. Eugene Parish. Ever since I started researching local schools, I kept hearing about this small private school and how those who have attended had a great time there. Prior to registration, the office manager answered all of my questions and took the time to explain everything about the school. The facility is small and quaint. I instantly felt at home there. It reminds me of my catholic school when I was a child living in New Orleans. The open door for each classroom policy definitely sold me when my daughter first started 3 years ago. This method helped me establish a strong relationship with the staff. I have also been able to have same rapport with other parents. My daughter feels very comfortable and always looks forward to class. All of the teachers and faculty members are engaging and truly welcome feedback. Teachers like Ms Elam, Ms Thomas, Mr. Taylor and Mr Davis have had an immensely positive impact on my daughter's success and esteem. I can't thank these educators enough. read more

This school was a waste of time and cash money. I didn't learn nothing. The teachers were mean, and one didn't own up for the wobbly desk( lost two teeth, and had to get braces) Man I should've sued them. Because the teacher in the first grade didn't teach me my multiplication tables, I went to a new school looking stupid. Dang, you people know who I am talking about. Yall would mark my sister and I late every day even though we were on time. The lunch was awful. I don't understand why my mom would bring food for the whole school, that we don't even know. Wish I could rate it a zero. Worst "Private School" to take your first grader to. My daughter and I checked in this school with high hopes ! Not only was I let down but sending my daughter to this school has lowered her confidence. She was in Mrs.Robles class and was not taught standard first grade teachings. She is now going to public school for second grade and is far behind where we thought this school would put her ahead. She doesn't like reading out loud because her reading is not fluent as other first graders are. Mrs.Robles class was like daycare... all the kids were out of their seats every time I came in and she'd be in the back of the class sitting down timidly with no control... she would often bring her kid to work. I feel like my daughter never went to first grade as she is learning all first grade teachings now in the second grade. Mrs. Robles is not a good teacher, she wants the parent to teach them everything and she just wants to supplement it and it should be the other way around. My daughters tutor, who has been in business for 40 years says she has had many children come from this teacher and school with complaints. Mrs. Robles sucks, my daughter didn't learn much at all.
