However children who challenge us I have come to find have a capacity of great intelligence and it shouldn't be reprimanded but instead guided with great love and patience so that the potential is not stunted but instead flourishes. At CMSG, Athena had flourished beyond my expectations. Her socialization with her peers had improved her verbal communication immensely within weeks. And after months, after keen monitoring, her interests guided her to her strengths and in which case was mathematics. Athena was in preschool age counting, adding, subtracting and even multiplying. Imagine the feeling of asking your preschooler what was 2 x 3 and they know! I was astounded. It only goes to show the value of the Montessori Method, that running with the interest and personal strengths of the child optimizes learning. It's very intuitive and requires a love which there was an abundance of with the CMSG family. She made great friends and was introduced beautifully to cultural diversity which promotes community value and respect on a larger scale. These are the foundations in children I feel are overlooked and undervalued in public schools. It wasn't easy making the tuition but I will absolutely stand by the fact it was worth every penny. Giving your child a solid head-start is priceless and as a parent we want to give our children the best. I believe CMSG was the best decision we made for our baby. I love Julie and Dan and have great faith in them to root your child(ren) well for their best beginning. ‍

We are beyond grateful we met her and Miss Jasmine. They are very kind, caring, and trustworthy. They are always positive and supportive while going through transitions. Before pregnancy, I thought I would never like any of the arts and crafts activities from daycare/school, but when I see ALL the crafts we get from them, I cried. They are very creative! Joselyn and her attendant Jasmine are so caring and wonderful - not only looking after our kids with so much love and attention but also teaching them to so many new things as well. Michelle, the owner, does a fantastic job of keeping the whole community in touch and the organization running smoothly. Field trips, weekend camping trips, and mom/dads' nights are a bonus. The hardest part about going back to work is finding care for your child. I was a stay at home mom,…read moreso I was worried about how my 1 year old daughter would adjust to a new environment and be away from me for long periods of time. We tried another daycare but it wasn't the right fit. Then we found Shama at Learn'n' Play. It only took 1 week for my daughter to adjust; soon enough I was trying to convince my daughter to stop playing so we could go home at the end of the day. Shama would send pictures and updates through the day, so I always felt reassured she was safe. It's been 2.5 years since and there's no one else I would trust with my kids. I told Shama as soon as I was pregnant with my 2nd to make sure she saved a spot for him. Now that maternity leave is over, I feel relieved knowing my infant son is in good hands.

Their genuine care and attention give me peace of mind every single day. This daycare truly prioritizes learning -- I'm often surprised when I try to introduce something new at home, only to find my son already knows it! Whether it's flash cards, vocabulary, or flying kites, it's clear they are always finding fun, hands-on ways to teach. One of the first things I noticed was how quickly manners were being instilled. My two-year-old consistently says "please," "thank you," and even "bless you" after someone sneezes -- something that melts my heart. Meals are cooked fresh daily, and I'm incredibly grateful that my only child is getting so much outdoor play, socialization, and joy in a loving environment. Holidays and birthdays are celebrated, which adds to the warm, community feel of the daycare. I also really appreciate the photos I receive while I'm at work -- they help me stay connected to my son's day and bring a smile when I need it most. Thank you, Shama, for creating such a safe, nurturing, and enriching place for my child to grow.

*I am editing this review as of 6-27-12 as I have now seen md a. original review.*…read more When I read this review from my iPhone, it does not show the original review that md a. wrote. I also do hear that the director there may be there past her prime, this review is based on my perspective as a father. Although I speak 100% English to my daughter, my wife speaks 100% Japanese to my daughter. I think this is a great school that provides a lot of opportunities for those that want their kids to learn Japanese or at least enforce what they can retain. There are class moms that assist with the parents in helping with various activities that this preschool has. They do have a Halloween event, Christmas event, some other event that involves hitting a watermelon blindfolded (Suikawari), and an athletic event which the whole family can get involved called Undokai in the spring. There are bake sales and Teriyaki chicken sales, throughout the year. For those that miss very few classes, there are attendance awards in June for those that miss the least days of preschool. Also in the middle of June prior to the completion of the spring session, there is a day where kids can play on 2 jumpers should they wish to expel their energy. As for the staff, of course all of them speak fluent Japanese. English most likely is not their first language but they do have an understanding of it. For those students and parents that do not understand Japanese, there are those that can help you understand what is going on. The teachers are mostly older than probably other Japanese preschools in the area but they do a great job facilitating a pleasant learning environment. Of course with any school, parents can meet each other prior to dropping off or picking up their kid(s) so it can serve as a place for parents to find out which friends your kids enjoy playing with. There is a day that is set where parents collectively can visit your child's class to see what goes on during their daily activity. For those that attend the summer sessions, there are 2 days each week designated for pool day so the kids can cool off in the plastic wading pools that are set up. Play toys are available in each classroom and are based on the age of the child. As far as outdoor play equipment, there are also 2 large sandboxes, tricycles to ride, a secure place for kids to run on concrete, a play gym, and 2 Little Tyke style houses for the kids to play in. This school has allowed our daughter to grow up in an environment she is comfortable in. It helped that we attended the Gardena Buddhist Church so our daughter was accustomed to the environment and not shocked into a preschool. After 2 years of this school, she will now go to an English school so she can start the transition to Kindergarten. It is always good to register early in any preschool so you have a good chance of enrolling there. We would send our other daughter to go there but since we moved, we will enroll our 2nd one to another local Japanese preschool.

Her teachers are prepared for the learning that will take place for the day, show positivity and love in their interactions with students, and provide opportunities for each family to be actively engaged in their child's learning and development. As a member of a multinational & multiethnic family, I appreciate the time teachers and staff take to ensure the intent and meaning behind school activities is explained for both English speakers & Native Japanese speakers as well. The entire staff and faculty are available and open to any questions you may have, and embody an extraordinary level of care and professionalism. Thank you for providing such a beautifully positive and caring environment for my daughter to grow within.

I was very apprehensive because this was a new change for me and my son. The first day of day care was very overwhelming, l dropped my son crying out of his lungs and I couldn't help but to feel very emotional questioning If I was doing the right thing. About 15 minutes later I received a call from Mrs. Belinda to reassure me that he was doing just fine. I thought that was very sweet from her because it showed that she cared and understood the situation for both; the child and the mother. Through the years it only got better! My son was being cared by a welcoming environment and warm staff that showed to be very dedicating to the children. I enjoyed that he was given a variety of developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor activities including singing, story telling, dramatic play and multi sensory fun. The Center also gives homework to the children so make sure to keep up otherwise you will hear it from Mrs. Belinda. She can be strict but that's because she cares and only wants the best interest for the child. My son (now 5 years old)has learned so much from this Center. As a first time mom, I had a really hard time looking for a daycare and trusting someone that I don't know with my baby. After my friend referred me to Teeny Tots, I went through a thorough interview process and had a tour of the preschool. Mrs. Tina took extra time to show us around and answer all our questions, she also played with my son and he felt comfortable around her. We gave Teeny Tots a try and that was the best decision we made for our baby. My son attended Teeny Tots for 3.5 years and it became his second home. This preschool has a strong emphasis in teaching and developing the age appropriate skills including emotional intelligence, alphabet, colors, shapes, counting, art, public speaking, etc, but most importantly it provides a safe and loving environment for the little ones. I love that every day/week has a specific schedule and all the kids are following the routine. Mrs. Tina and Mrs. Tammy organize fun events throughout the year including birthday and holiday celebrations, water play days, field trips, movie nights and even family events. They always go above and beyond to make every kid feel special. I cried after I dropped off my son at Teeny Tots the first time when he was 18months old and I cried again the day he graduated from there. I am so grateful to amazing Mrs. Tina and Miss Tammy for everything they did for my son and I truly hope that his "big school" teachers will be as great as they are because Teeny Tots set up the bar really high. The class sizes are not too big and ratios are nice making it an ideal setting. Hours of operation is also very ideal for parents with long hours. The teachers take time to share highlights of our child's day which we love to hear all the time! Their cleaning standard is also golden as they disinfect and deep clean the premises routinely which put our minds at ease.
