The teachers are friendly and patient. They have a great principal Ms. Dudley to lead them. She is approachable and friendly. 156th St. School is also academically the best you are going to get in a public school in the surrounding areas. My son and I went to the office to get those gifts, and this old lady told us OH ITS YOUR SON WHO DID NOT PICK UP THE GIFTS HERE IN THE OFFICE, THIS IS WHY I DO NOT LIKE RECEIVING GIFTS HERE I'D RATHER PARENTS CALL AND WAIT FOR THERE KIDS TO PICK UP WHATEVER THEY'RE TRYING TO GIVE! When in the first place I specifically asked her to call my son! Then today i dropped off my son to school, and we came from a flooded area, so i changed his shoes from a slide but wearing a socks, coming from a asian household, wearing a shoes that is soaking wet will cause u to have shaking and super sweaty feet. So as soon as she did not let my son come in, i did not argue anymore and just went to change him back to shoes since the shoes is just in my car. At this point its just pouring so hard and theres flood, so when we came back to try to enter, this girl has the audacity, too look directly at my son's feet, in such a disrespectful way! So now they finally let my son in, but they have the MOST NERVE TO GIVE OUT TARDY PASS! It's inhumane to give tardy passes, when its raining crazy and kids are getting stuck bc of it! Mind you, we were just late for 9 minutes! I understand everyone is going through a lot of things behind closed doors, but nobody asked this girl to work in the elementary school just to be so unprofessional, inconsiderate, grouchy at throw attitude at all times! So disrespectful! This old lady is just not the right staff to be in the school! It's not like we're being disrespectful to be treated in such way! But after all, the teachers here are the best, most especially Mr. Piceno and our favorite Mr. Irving! The teacher never communicated with me when I had questions and a few times her things were lost. The lessons were not age appropriate for her age (2 years old) and would have been better for a 4 year old. My sister sent her autistic foster sons here and one was going to receive services provided by the state and the school would not accommodate them. They refused and then kicked the boys out because they didn't "fit in" with their "Christian" standards. I wish I was more vocal about this sooner and hope others don't go through this either. My daughter attended when she was two, about two years ago and this has always been at the back of my mind and heavy in my heart.

For math, you should consider taking Mr. Yamachika's classes, if interested. He teaches math in a very interactive way which will catch most student's attention and hopefully your child will excel in math like mine did. I can only refer teachers based on the ones we personally knew but you should rest assured knowing that your child will SUCCEED here if he/she WISHES TO DO SO. One thing I do regret is not enrolling/following-up on the Magnet program here while my son attended Peary but he did take AVID classes. That is an alternative program if you missed the application deadline for Magnet. Please take advantage of all the programs LAUSD has to offer. It is our responsibility as parents to do our part as well. Sadly, there are many negative reviews here - please do not let that discourage you. It's all up to your child. I believe in this school so much so that I have enrolled my daughter into the Magnet program at Peary. She just started her first day yesterday. Let's go Huskies! It ended up being one of the best decisions we could have made. At ECMSG, the Dean and his team did an incredible job holding my son accountable for his negative behavior while also recognizing and reinforcing his positive efforts. That balance truly helped him get back on track. Because the school is smaller, there is much more individual attention and staff really pay attention to the details. The supervision staff genuinely care about the students and build healthy, supportive relationships with them. On days when my son wasn't feeling his best, he could easily request a check-in with the counseling team, which made a huge difference. The office staff is always warm and welcoming. They consistently go above and beyond their job descriptions. The school also provides strong support for parents by clearly explaining the grading system and offering tutoring to help students stay on top of missing assignments. The Special Education department is patient, accommodating, and incredibly supportive. The Principal is highly involved not only with the students, but with the surrounding community as well. He builds meaningful relationships with the kids and truly listens to parents. He has an open-door policy and never makes you feel like your concerns aren't important, which was very different from our previous experience. Their outdoor education program is another highlight. The students learn hands-on skills and how to solve real-world problems in meaningful ways and we get invited to come hear the kids present on their learning. I am extremely pleased with our experience and highly recommend ECMSG to any family looking for a smaller, supportive school environment where students are truly seen and supported.
