What a freakin fun event! Get a group of crazy/fun chics together. Dress up and run around and get your cute outfit totally trashed!! Yeah!!!! Definitely recommend for any one, all levels of physical fitness. If you are afraid of heights you might need to skip one or two obstacles. No worries just keep it movin! It's clear the Red Frog Events team behind Warrior Dash have been working hard to improve WD. After 3 years I'd say this is the best so far! For starters, the T-shirts are actually cool enough to be wearable post-event. More porta-potties means no expending all your pre-race energy on a pee-pee dance! They were kind of in a maze though, like an extra obstacle, just not on the race track, or was that the beer kicking in?. Bigger obstacles means more bad-assery!! They were taller and more challenging than the past by far. Giant slip & slide, ftw! More water stops means all those pre-race beers won't be so heavy in your stomach! Muddier mud & deeper water will make you wish you had brought a towel, but dancing with your post-race beer will warm you up! If you haven't done warrior dash in previous years I highly recommend grabbing a group of friends and signing up for next year. Costumes are pretty much mandatory. The post-race party has a costume contest and lots of opportunities for hilarious pictures! If the past years are any indication, this event can only get more bad-ass! read more

Wow, this event was awesome. It was actually very well organized I thought. I do not know why the title in Yelp says Norcal, but this event is everywhere. Today's event was in Lake Elsinore. Lots of interesting obstacles including water and mud. I am at home right now sunburned but that's my own fault for nothing applying sunblock. I love how you receive a medal when you finish, a beer, a warrior hat, and a t-shirt that is included in the registration price. It sucks that you have to pay $10 for parking, but other than that, it was a very nice venue. I would love to participate in this run again this year. Make sure to bring lots of your friends because it is much funner when you have a group of friends with you. Also, bring an old pair of shoes because you are going to chuck them after you finish! read more

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Can't say no to a freee admittance to Warrior Dash 2012 in Lake Elsinore! My friends' friend wasn't able to go.... so I filled in quite perfectly! Sure wished I had a heads up earlier but 5 hours before the race is good for me. So I drove from Rosemead to Lake Elsinore and the rest is history! We kinda made a good team. I urged her on with the endurance part like running and she was patient with me with the heights category! Win Win situation! Jumping over logs of fire was pretty cool! I will only echo what other 4+ Star reviews have said. Tons of fun. Great staff, awesome course, tons of mud, and a solid challenge to boot. Loads of pictures, and live music, tag time tracking, and good wave time break downs. Only downside is there were no showers and so you had to clean up in the muddy lake (it was clean before people started "cleaning" off). Truth be told it fits with the theme, and so it's fine, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more emphasis placed on being able to get clean after you're all done playing in the mud and having a day of fun. My goal was to plunder, conquer and make the boys cry for their mommies as I pass them up & put 'em to cruddy mud dust eating shame! Done, son. I enjoy a good challenge. It's rewarding to be able to apply the hard work I do in the gym to practical use. Let's not forget, ladies, working out has far more benefits beyond defined abs and a perky round ass that passes the pencil test. Put that lean mean fighting machine you've created to use & find out what you're really made of! If you run this race hard and push your limits to kick the courses ass rather than leisurely complete it, you'll get a good workout and have fun doing it. Winning! Participated last Saturday with my warrior princesses Joanie G. & yelp-less Xyra & Philberie L. Unfortunately, I lost them early on but we reunited later and took a 3rd world style bath in the lake to rinse off the mud after the race. This was my 4th event of this kind, but my first experience with Warrior Dash. Red Frog coordinated this event and did a great job at meeting expectations. Lake Elsinore is a far 1.5 hour drive, but hey, it's not like a battlefield can be built in the middle of L.A. and be legit. You need the space & terrain that the city just doesn't have. The amount of participants per wave created the right amount of space between one wave and the next, as well as participants within the same wave. I've experienced poorly spaced races, where you get stuck inside or behind a massive blob of cluster-fuckdom that screws up your race time or ability to power through obstacles. With WD, the whole process from start to finish was on point and well-executed. The only qualm I have is they're lagging on posting the race results & photos online. I'll update on that when I know! How I rolled: 3.08 miles of non-stop running. Vaulted up bales of hay in the shape of a mini pyramid. Hopped around on top of old cars. Climbed up and vaulted over walls. Military crawled under barbed wire and a bungee barrier. Crawled up and across cargo nets like Spiderman. Traversed wooden planks situated above a rocky dry ravine. Trudged through knee deep lake water over logs. Gracefully jumped over fire pits (they could have been bigger for added dramatic effect). Finished with more military crawls in a barb wired mud pit followed by a knee deep mud pit full of the thickest, wet concrete/quick sand like mud I've ever trudged through in my life. Smiling volunteers are waiting at the finish line to adorn you with a viking helmet medal, plenty of H2O, bananas & fresh out of the race photos with your crew. After a little bit of posing with the girls and no time for beer & turkey legs, I made a mad dash on the road back into civilization, bombing through traffic, en route to get all fancied up to attend a wedding with my boyfriend, a few short hours after the race. From balls to the walls to fantastically fancy in a dress & stilettos with a few battle wounds on the knees as accessories. Even managed to keep the cal-gel manicure intact and get to the venue on time with a few minutes to spare. Now if that's not a perfect day, I don't know what is. read more

The folks who organized this definitely know what they were doing. I have to compare this event with the Super Spartan race that I did a few months ago and in terms of organization, execution, and overall experience, the Warrior Dash definitely wins out on all fronts. Parking was simple and the location was really good for the event because of the lot size and easy access. There were a TON of volunteers and all were helpful in directing traffic and answering questions. Packet pickup was quick - just had to show ID and I got my shirt, Viking hat (too small for my fat head but cool nonetheless), and chip timer that also doubled as a beer voucher. The course itself was well planed with good spacing between the obstacles. I got hung up waiting behind people quite a bit at some of the rope obstacles but nothing I could really do about that. There were heats every half hour throughout the day so the organizers tried to spread out the runners. There were two water stations from what I could remember but the course was only 5k so that is the perfect number. After the race we grabbed some food and cashed in our free beer. Food prices were actually pretty reasonable - $6 for a HUGE turkey leg, $1 bottled water. They also setup a stage with some cover bands who played pretty much all Green Day. I had a lot of fun and will definitely be doing it again next year. Tip: put on sunscreen HAWT Wimmens EVERYWHERE!!! read more

Warrior Dash 2010! What a fun day that was :) Thanks to groupon, a bunch of us girls decided to sign up for warrior dash this year. For $25, we got entry to the race, a tshirt, Viking hat, medal and one free beer. Pretty sweet deal :) I must admit I didn't know what to expect when I signed up and grew more and more anxious as I got closer to the race. My idea of a fun time usually does not involve running 3.5 miles, trust me. I was scared I might faint after the first mile or maybe slip and fall in the fire. Thankfully none of those things happened and i finished in one piece with only a few knee scrapes! WOO! It actually is very doable and it's a lot of fun! I encountered all the obstacles I was expecting; jumping over cars, climbing ropes, hurdles, tunnels, slip n slide, fire and finally the mud pit. Overall the event was well organized and the staff/participants for the most part were all super friendly. I highly recommend experiencing warrior dash at least once. And no worries if you're one of those ppl who only work out once in a blue moon (ahem like me), you won't have a problem finishing if you take your time. The website does hype it up a bit, it's not as scary as it sounds. As long as you have no problem getting dirty, you will be fine. Also if you're looking for a challenge, you can have a time goal, I heard the fastest time on race day was 18 mins!! The race area was also like a big party, with a stage, music, lots of beer and food. Bring cash for the turkey legs! They smelled soooo good! Too bad they were sold out by the time we were done with the race :( I would definitely pick an earlier wave next time so i can enjoy the festivities afterwards! read more

I've done a few "obstacle runs" & I always think they're a blast. I hit up the Saturday SoCal Warrior Dash 2011 with a small group of friends and had a ball. We ran, we crawled, we climbed, we sweated, and finished the race! The atmosphere was wonderful. Everyone was very chill and friendly and happy to be out of a beautiful day enjoying life. Afterwards, we wished we'd thought to dress up in some crazy costumes (which will happen next event). We had such a great time that our pictures & stories has inspired a whole bunch of our other friends to attend the next event with us. PS - You get a free beer after the race. Beer + dehydration + endorphines = happy times!!! read more

Warrior Dash is advertised as "the craziest frickin' day of your life" - which I think would be an exaggeration for about 40% of the folks there. Let me lay it out: Pros: - Pretty well organized in a good location -out in the middle of nowhere. So there's ample parking, campgrounds nearby and the Casa de fruta vertical. - They delivered within 90% of everything they promised: obstacles, fire to jump over, mud pit, 3+ mile run, free t-shirt, beer, giant turkey legs etc. - All the staff I encountered - whether cheering me on as I crawled through the mud, to hose me down with cold water or to tell me I couldn't hop over the fences were friendly. - The other participants all came with spirit and a sense of adventure! Add to that the Halloween costumes and it was great people watching... - Cons: - I ordered a medium shirt.... It's a man's medium. So now my boyfriend and I have the same sized t-shirt. Print quality was also poor ... on my shirt, they appear to have run out of red ink ... - The obstacles were so weak. I get that too many obstacles would have created bottlenecks, but it was pretty lame. In one section you had to go over stacks of hay (built into a pyramid) ... but instead of climbing over 4-5 of these, they had just 1 stack - I guess I was personally looking for something a bit more physically challenging. Running's not really my thing ... I signed up for the obstacles so I was disappointed they didn't have more. - There was a location change and a price drop - but only those who called in, got a refund. I only found out b/c my friend told me ... that's messed up. - I organized a total team of ~20 people ... no group discounts. I'll be less likely to organize another for next year. - The slip and slide tarps were layered up the hill ... so myself and a friend both got our fingers caught in the tarp and thus injuring ourselves. All in all I still had a great time with my friends and all the shenanigans we got ourselves into. I wouldn't discourage folks signing up for it and I think the barrier to entry is low - anyone can do it. read more

I completed the Warrior Dash today with my husband and some good friends, and must say I had a lot of fun. The event was very well organized. You come in, sign a waiver and go pick up your awesome warrior hat and t-shirt. Then you check your stuff and get ready for a ton of fun. You start out running a little over a half of a mile before you get to the first obstacle course, and from there on out there are about 13 obstacles in total. I didn't go last year, but my friend Reena did and told me that this year's obstacles were much tougher than before. A lot of the things we had to climb were taller than they had before. Jumping in the lake was cold at first but fun, and it was nice to see so many people quick to help you out when you need a push! Jumping the fire was a little scary but awesome. And last but not least, the mud!!! I had a great time swimming in mud under barbed wire... lol! The costumes/themes people wore were awesome. I myself wore a colorful top, leggings with shorts, and neat knee high socks, to match my buddy. We really enjoyed ourselves, and enjoyed free beer after the 5k! Definitely a fun event, not really a competitive kind of thing as some events can be. I loved the challenge. I'm super sore and sunburned, but it was worth it!! read more

For a day I was King!... or at least I felt that way. Filled with mud, blood and sweat the Warrior Dash is a fantastic starting point for many of the other Mud Runs, Obstacle Courses and Spartans to come. I went with a friend to brave this mud run and found myself having the most fun I've ever had. My feeling of accomplishment was 10 greater than I had imagined, THIS is what it must feel like to go to war and come back victorious! The amount of camaraderie displayed here also, pulling strangers out of the mud, pushing people over walls, and carrying their family through water showed me that the this dash brought people together in more ways than one. I had a blast and am planning to make this an annual event and since I live in California I might make it a habit to do the socal AND norcal dashes! If you want to test your strength and stamina for 3 miles or mud, dust and water then come out to try your hand of a Warrior Dash, you'll be glad you did! Enjoy! read more

Second time doing this race, very fun. Obstacles are fun, challenging, and were different from last year. The only thing that was kind of a let down was that they didn't seem as put together as last year. No changing areas, no vendors giving away swag, only Monster and Anytime fitness, which they didn't have anything but a tent and a 6ft table with flyers, not even a tablecloth. It is still a fun race and I'll do it again next year! read more

Just did this a couple of days ago and it was my first mud run. Overall I had a ton of fun but there were a couple of things that were just ok. First off the event is organized really well. Everything from parking to check in to the run was awesome. They have storage on site, you get a free beer with entry and the event is super accessible to everyone and their mother. You don't have to be fit to participate. The bummer for me - and i should have really looked this up before going - was that the whole thing was too easy. I know, I should have googled it before hand but w/e. I was expecting to go over there and get my ass kicked for an hour and then crush it....uhh not quite. The obstacles are super easy, the run itself is easy, the atmosphere isn't really competitive. I mean you have people dressed up as leprechauns and drunk koala bears. And we all know how noncompetitive koala bears are. So its not a huge bummer but the bottom line is that the whole thing was just too easy. There were like 6ish obstacles total and they werent exactly walking on coals or having to carry a sack of potatoes while fighting off some ravenous baboons. The flip side is that making it much harder would exclude tons of other people. So definitely go and participate in the camaraderie because its super fun. Just don't expect this to be super challenging. Oh and you get a medal at the end. read more

I love the Warrior Dash! This was my second year doing it. It was a LOT more challenging this year than last, though. I'm not sure if i like that or not... lol. It was hard. I was sore. Very sore. The mud hill at the end was impossible. Shout out to the guy who pushed my feet up so I could get over that hill. I was sooo stuck. I liked that they had 2 water stations on the course this year... I don't remember them having any at all last time. This is definitely a race you don't want to do alone! Get a big group of friends and sign up! The event is well organized and I love the tshirt this year. way better than the one from last year. The medal is also bigger and more show-off worthy ;) read more

Obstacles were not challenging at ALL nor were there enough of them. WAY over priced. Over hyped. If you want a real challenge do the Tough Mudder. Turkey leg was undercooked human meat. Beer was too expensive. Why do we people pay to abuse our bodies and get muddy? Charity? I bet a tiny fraction of this cost actually makes it to charity. read more

Ah So Much FUN!! Ran the race on Sat (31Mar2012) it was a Blast!! All the descriptions that preceded mine pretty much summed it up - It's a cool, well organized event, that is a TON O'Fun ;-) Wear a funky outfit - or not, old shoes, be ready to get VERY dirty, and don't be afraid of some bruises (I have a few to prove "you Too may survive them"). I've done a bunch of regular 5 and 10K races, as well as The Muddy Buddy, and I am a total fan of this one. The obstacles (one of which was IN the lake :P) is what makes it so much fun. It's looking like the Warrior Dash is going to be a family tradition. Because of that, it's an automatic 5 stars because of the company that I am with. Now for the review, here are my thoughts: - 5k (3 miles) of desert/chaparral terrain. If you are like me, running is easy when you have head phones but being that this is an obstacle course, no headphones are recommended. - The obstacles are a mixed bag of easy to difficult levels. Some challenge your balance. Some challenge how stable your ankles are. Some challenges your upper body strength and some challenge your fear of heights. - Depending on your wave, you may be in running with a group who takes this seriously and are trying to make good time. Move to the side for them. Or you may be running with a group who wears costumes and sees this obstacles as an adult playground. You should also watch out for them too as they are probably going to be rowdy =) - They change it up year after year so you never really get the same order or obstacles. In 2012, there were a lot of obstacles that involved climbing tall tall walls. 2013, they put mud pit towards the beginning so you were weighed down with the mud and had to mind how slippery some obstacles were. - You wash up in a lake with other people. So really, it's hard to get really clean. You get "clean enough." Unless you run for the St Jude Children's hospital and raise over $300. Then you get a tent with amenities and a portable shower. My tips: - Be mindful of folks on the obstacles. Encourage but don't rush them. And effin' wait your turn. For example, my cousin was climbing up a wall with a rope. She almost made it but the mud made it slippery for her to grab the wall. Homegirl at the bottom grabbed her rope and started to climb. As my cousin, lost steam and slipped but because she didn't want to fall on the girl below her, she grabbed hold and pulled her latissimus dorsi. So yea, don't rush! - If you are going to change, have a system because there are no real changing facilities except at the port o' potties. We opened both doors of our SUV and had to use them as stalls. Next year, I'd like to make a makeshift tent with a bed sheet - You get one free beer with your time chip. - Bring wipes. That lake won't get your face clean enough. - Mud gets EVERYWHERE. - You can donate your muddy shoes for charity. - Kids are welcome but they don't have kid-friendly activities. Have them bring their kid lawn chairs and lots of activities to do as they wait for you finish (with an adult guardian of course) - Don't take it too seriously. It's really just to romp around and have fun. read more

What better way to spend a weekend than drinking beer, putting together costumes and trudging through the mud with your closest friends? I sure can't think of anything! This event was surprisingly well organized. As a former 5K runner, I have been to plenty of races that were anything but. Parking was easy and reasonable; packet pickup was lightning fast, as was the line for beer at the end of the race; and the heats started on time with plenty of space in between obstacles so that there were no bottlenecks. The Warrior Dash has a little something for everyone. It is challenging, without being solely focused on intensity like the Tough Mudder seems to be. You'll find three different types of participants. Those that are there to compete, those that are there to crawl through mud and have a great time doing it, and those that are looking for a bit of both. All in all, I think my friends and I have found a new yearly tradition. read more

MUD! Prepare to get messy if you ever decide to partake in this awesome 5k! I would definitely do it next year! This was my first Warrior Dash but it won't be my last. With every turn of the course you weren't sure what obstacle was coming up next. Whether it was hay bales, car jumping, dodging tires, climbing up cargo nets, wading through water, jumping over logs, climbing through mud and hopping over fire this was all a blast! The energy of the crowd really pumps you up and makes you continue you to try your hardest. I did this event with my sister and our outfits were "Tiger's Blood." We were the girls in the orange shirts and bandanas that everyone kept calling us the Charlie Sheen twins. Haha. I do recommend dressing up for that is at least half the fun of the event! I got to see so many fun costumes like guys in tiny speedos and girls in tutu's. Anyone who is in good shape and doesn't take life too seriously should partake! read more

What a great experience! Went with 2 friends, 1 had done it before. We were in the first heat at 11 (highly recommend). It's a 5k run with obstacles, mud, water, fun, and beer! There were about 8 obstacles and lots of encouragement. You get medal when you finish, a t shirt, 1 free beer, and a Viking/warrior hat/horns. The more the merrier! Lots of people dress up in funny costumes or groups themes too. Just remember....EVERYTHING will get mud on it, so don't wear your new kicks! The only thing I think they could improve upon is: more than 1 water station during the run and more picnic tables in the lot after the race. We enjoyed it so much, we're already thinking abut how to make it better next year! read more

A few weeks ago, I did my very first Warrior Dash and it was an amazing day! I've NEVER been a runner (in fact I still have flashbacks to getting lapped by the 300lb guy in gym wheezing "I've gotta quit smoking" as he huffed past me whilst running the mile) so my gusto for running this awesome looking race had to be high for me to commit to it. I had seen awesome muddy photos of several old friends on facebook and convinced myself that this race would be worth training for. I downloaded the medium level training schedule and started trying to work up to running 2 miles 3 times a week on the treadmill a month before starting the official training schedule. I'm so glad I did. When I got to the race for my 3:00 leg, it seemed very chaotic. We parked easily and there were signs telling us where to park thankfully. There were not however as many signs as I would have liked to tell you which way the starting line was and so on. The race itself was pretty fun, but a lot of the obstacles were climb-related. I enjoy climbing things a lot myself, but some people may have found it a bit redundant. There were 3 water tables along the way with people encouraging us and cheering us on. The guy with the microphone at the finish line was motivating as well. I wish they would have had more speakers throughout the course blasting music because I usually run to music, but that's just a personal preference. Once I finished we headed to the "party" area. Everything was labeled fairly well, although I should mention that when I went to get my free beer afterwards, my bf had gone to get food outside the wristband area so I had to chug my beer so I could go out of the wristband area and eat my food. ANNOYING! The food was about on par with theme park food: mediocre at best. I was a bit irked that there was a live band when we arrived at 2 and when I finished my race, there was just an empty stage and crappy house music playing way too loud. Don't say you'll have a live band and then not make it clear that the people who do the last 4 legs of the day will miss out on that. I unfortunately went to go look in the results tent instead of just waiting until the end of the day to check the website. Not only does it take about 40 minutes for your name to roll up because it's results for the ENTIRE day, but you might miss it if you blink because it's scrolling so fast. The worst part of the day was when I was waiting to see my results and someone stole my water bottle out of my backpack. Why would someone steal a waterbottle?! Not a huge deal but super pissed because it was a nice Nathan one from R.E.I. and some weirdo snatched it (nevermind that there was security everywhere)! All in all, the race was fun but I'm glad I had a smoothie beforehand and a protein bar in the car to make up for the lousy food and glad I trained because I was so sore I couldn't move for like 4 days afterwards and I stretched for about 40 minutes before I started my leg. Can't imagine how much worse it would have been without stretching and training. I would definitely recommend the Dash to friends but don't take anything you wouldn't want to get lost or ruined. read more

Warrior Dash - My first Warrior Dash (2012) - Active Life Near Me - Lake Elsinore, California

Race was sufficiently muddy and challenging. I raced on my birthday with my son in April this year. The course did not seem like it was a full 5K but was fun. Organized and staffed by mostly energetic and friendly volunteers. Plenty of restrooms. The food zone was a bit unorganized and when my wife tried to buy food she was rudely told that they were not open yet. My son and I went with an early wave of runners so you would think that food vendors would be opened and ready to receive the hungry hoard when they returned. Oh, well. I did not like the medal this year. It was a bottle opener attached to a ribbon. I'm not a big drinker so that we disappointing. I will do this race again. read more

The Warrior Dash was pretty fun. I got there an hour before my 1PM wave to checkin. Everything was really organized. They had our packages (bibs, t-shirt, warrior helmet) alphabetized by last name so everything was really quick. I liked how they organized the race into different waves because it made it less crowded. There was definitely a lot of room to run and go through the obstacle course. The obstacle course consisted of climbing over cars, ropes, walls, logs, running through tires, lakes, mud, and crossing over planks and fire. The first lake we had to go through was kind of gross because it was still water and smelled like shit!! I cut my ankle climbing over the cars so I felt a little uneasy going through the shit smelling lake...but I did it anyway cause im a WARRIOR. The road between the obstacles are unpaved and very bumpy so I ended up with shin splints the next day :( At the end of the race, we jumped back into the lake a.k.a the "Warrior Wash" to rinse off all the mud. They also provided us with bananas to reenergize. Everyone gets a Warrior Dash metal too! :) Afterwards, we headed over to the festival area to grab a free beer and buy food. Now this is the ridiculous part. To buy food and more beer, you had to go to a line to buy tickets and then you had to line up again at the food line to buy the food and beer. RIDICULOUS! And there wasn't even a line for the turkey leg! People just crowded around the gate and if you're lucky enough, one of the servers will hand you a turkey leg. I expected the festival to be more fun, but it was just alright. Was not as lively as I wanted it to be. Overall, this event is really unique and I suggest everyone to try it at least once. But, I probably wouldn't participate again unless a lot of my friends plan on doing it. Even then, most people eventually get separated during the race. read more

I had so much fun as a spectator that I'm running next year. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the bathroom situation. For most of the day there wasn't toilet paper in most of the port-o-potties. Also, the hand washing stations rain out of water. Completely unacceptable and disgusting. Other than that it inspired me to do a mud run...and next year I'm bringing hand sanitizer and TP. read more
