The girl at the desk never provided any information about anything. I did not know I needed quarters for the locker rental, nor did I not know I couldn't wear a baseball cap or have a crossbody bag. As soon as I got on the rink, the attendant told me I had to get off because of my hat. I wasn't upset or anything, I quietly skated off, returned my skates and gathered my belongings. As I was exiting I observed men on the skating rink with beanies on their heads and skull caps. Additionally I observed adults walking on the rink as they were helping their children. I did not know that the rink was also a track. I would think that's a bigger safety hazard than wearing a hat. When I went to the front to inquire about a refund there was a gentleman in front of me who had on a hat and I was tempted to say something to him but I also wanted to see if the clerk would remind him of the hat policy, but she didn't. I don't know if the assumption is that everyone who visits are regulars and know the protocol, but it wouldn't hurt to have signage at the front desk and to also remind the attendants to say something to the patrons.

Her friends stated that the pizza tasted like cardboard and the starry was not tasty either. Unfortunately this skate location has changed so much since my own childhood smh. But I will say the security was very nice and helpful, one even obtained some water for my daughter to help her cool off.

Now they do have indoor soccer fields here too and have party hosting capabilities as well. I must have skated for about 3 hours with only the occasional 3 minute break to catch my breath. In case you got hungry or thirsty, there were small mom n pop food and drink vendors by the entrance charging very reasonable prices. The best part was being amongst such talented skaters! I've only been skating three times now but I feel like I leveled up just by watching others here. Rink #1 has a capacity of 2,500 where as Rink #2 has a capacity of 500. The arena offers ice hockey and ice skating lessons with classes for toddlers to adults. it is the home ice for Livingston and West Orange High School Ice Hockey teams. The Essex Figure Skating Club, as well as, the U.S. Speed Skating. These days I visit the arena during public skating sessions which generally are Friday (4:45-6:15), Saturday & Sunday (11:45-1:15) and (2-3:30 pm). Check their website because special events disrupt the schedule. Graduations, performances by skating stars like Dorothy Hamill and Peggy Fleming and NJIL Cup Finals. Admission for public skating is as follows: adults $10, seniors & military $8, children 15 years and younger $8. Skate rentals are $5 dollars. There is ample parking and the food concession offerings are pretty good.

It is a total game-changer for hockey parents! It's fully heated with a perfect bird's-eye view of the ice, so you can stay warm while watching the game. The food is actually really good--much better than your typical rink snacks--and it's the perfect spot to grab a coffee and catch up with other parents. The location is also incredibly convenient. It's tucked right behind the Best Buy and Starbucks off Route 22, which makes it easy to grab a quick coffee on the way in or run a few errands during practice. If you're looking for a great hockey community and a parent-friendly facility in Union County, this is definitely the place to be!

Even though I live in the city, it felt great to get out and enjoy the nice weather for once…read moreinstead of hiding indoors like some true New Yorkers. My friend was in town and told me about a DJ playing at a roller skating rink, and suddenly I was transported back to the era when roller rinks ruled the City. So we went, both of us pretending we were twenty years younger. When I got off the train in Bushwick, the neighborhood hit me with all the color, murals, and creative energy like it was trying to convince me to move there immediately. It was semi-loud, bright, artistic, and basically screamed welcome to Brooklyn. At the rink, I filled out the waiver on my phone, showed it to the staff, and rented skates for seven dollars. Considering I had not roller skated in many years, I probably should have signed a second waiver promising not to sue if I fell dramatically. But once I put those skates on, the nostalgia kicked in. Back in the day, New York had roller rinks everywhere. Now they are rare, so seeing this place alive and buzzing made me root for it instantly. The rink itself is not massive, but it is big enough to make you feel confident and terrified at the same time. The crowd was a mix of beginners clinging to the rail like it was a lifeline and pros gliding around like skating versions of Michael Jackson. Meanwhile I was in the middle lane praying I would not become the next viral wipeout video. The opening DJ was decent, but the headlining DJ never really materialized. Maybe he was invisible. Maybe he was on a coffee break. Maybe he was spiritually mixing from another dimension. Either way, I was a little disappointed. Music is a big part of the experience and if the DJ is not matching the vibe, it's like dancing with no rhythm. At one point, as a former pro DJ, I even thought about asking for the manager so I could apply for my own DJ set. I mean, how hard could it be? All jokes aside, I had a really good time. My friend and I laughed, the people were friendly, and the atmosphere was fun. I would definitely recommend this place. I have only been once, but I will absolutely go back again, hopefully with better music and fewer near-death skating experiences. Photos coming soon!

I believe the electronic locker is $5 and fit 2 jackets, shoes and smaller bags. There was plenty of booth and bench seating near the wide bar and around the edges of the rink. The spacious bathroom is well stocked. The service from the bar was prompt and pleasant. My favorite things were the salmon nachos and coconut water. The surface of the skating floor is smooth, and provide a comfy skating experience even for less frequent/ unseasoned skaters. The center of the floor is dedicated to learners and tricks. At times the stage is accessible for shenanigans & live shows/ DJs. The floor can be very contested on more popular night and sor special events, which less than ideal for faster skaters and easy maneuvering around folks. This is a welcome indoor activity that is weather proof and I approve.

Competitive swimming pool open daily free of charge to all. When was the last time you had a nice swim for as long as you wanted for free? Like try never! Pool is clean, yes slightly dated but so well maintained. Went there today from 11am to 12, guess how many people there were on all 6 lanes? 4people! By the time i was done: there were 2 left. Yes, location sucks and really this is for people from Newark, Harrison and perhaps Karney to enjoy. Showers are dated and not all work; bring your own hair dryer. But all that doesn't bother me since i can just go home and be there in 5min. Also excellent for kids since they do have baby and toddler depths available. They plan to close it for 15 days renovation but will reopen in Nov. Also i am looking forward to their ice rink hours. Will be available later in fall. Again kids classes avaible for free (from what i hear). All in all i am impressed and will come back!

She was so excited, she now wants her own pair of roller blades. Yes, the rink and exterior around it could use a good paint job, and some of the furniture could use some updating. Overall, a great time was had by all, and I love the fact that this venue is local.
