Came for family skate with my daughter and some of her friends. Unfortunately my daughter got a really bad headache and really nauseous. The music was too loud which caused the headache. Her friends stated that the pizza tasted like cardboard and the starry was not tasty either. Unfortunately this skate location has changed so much since my own childhood smh. Went to the skating rink for family day on a Sunday. Fill out the waiver ahead of time to save time on line. If you can bring cash and save on the fees. Friendly staff over all. Easy to get your skates. Had to get a skater helper for my son which was an additional fee. Note they only have skates and no rollerblades. Good music, bathrooms are decent, and good amount of seating area. They also have lockers if you prefer to use them. We didn't try any food or drinks but they do offer them for purchase. There aren't many indoor places to skate at in NJ, so it's great to see that Branch Brook is still attracting adult skaters. They also have nights and events for the kiddies. It's a large rink located in Branch Brook Park with different prices for skate rentals, spectators, and if you have your own skates. There is plenty of parking outside, but get there early as it can fill up pretty quickly. I have never had issues with parking though. Lockers are 50 cents each, but many of them are jammed or missing keys, so again, come early. Police presence is inside and outside, but it's always good vibes when I've been there. The DJ and lighting makes it feel like main event energy. When the 2 hour skate is over, you will be sweaty, maybe tired, but you for sure had a good time. read more

I was so happy to visit Branch Brook Skating Center as I've visited plenty of times as a child! And no, I still cannot skate LOL! My boyfriend and I arrived for the 8pm-10pm slot, which I love that they have different slots to avoid over crowding. We got there a little early and was one of the first ones on line to purchase tickets and get the skates. There's plenty of parking so no worries about that. Before you're let in, you have to fill out a waiver. It's not available online yet so you will need to do it in person. After we filled out the waiver, we walked in and paid around $20 each which isn't bad and included skates. The skating rink was just how it was since I was a kid and that's not a bad thing! We went on a night where kids can skate too which was fine since I cannot skate at all. The little kids were the ones passing me up and teaching me, haha! You can rent a locker for 50 cents to put your belongings in so make sure to bring cash/coins. It was pretty chilly inside so if you're a spectator you might want to bring something to keep you warm. If you're skating, you'll be thanking the fans and AC! Skating was so much fun! People are friendly and didn't bother me when I was stuck to the sides LOL. Just can't stay idle on the sides too long as the employees will tell you to keep it moving. This is to avoid any accidents and keep the flow of the rink. Once it hit 20 minutes until 10pm, they turned off the lights and we were able to skate with the backlight paintings illuminating on the walls. The music was just IT; props to the DJ! We celebrated my daughters birthday here. Barbie themed. It was meh. In terms of decoration; the barbie theme, they swapped out decorations without asking; sun glasses for pacifiers?. Didnt give us the arcade cards and then when it was mentioned they said they "left it on the table didnt i see" i didnt see, there were no cards given. They kept them. As for the DJ booth trip. My daughter went to the dj booth and requested a song. The DJ didnt play her song. Whats the point? If he didnt like it then why is the service offered. This skate rink is really nice. My family and i were in search of a spot that wasnt too far from home. Although this isnt close by, its no where near as far as the location i previous went to in LI. They have sessions of two hours that you can skate. I love the time limit because its perfect when your trying to get the kids together to leave. What i dislike is that we were not allowed into the facility until 3pm on the dot. The line of people trying to get inside was ridiculous and theres only one cashier. People were skipping the line and staff did nothing to control it. I definitely recommend purchasing the tickets online to avoid this mess. I feel like its a little dishonest of this place to make me pay for two hours of skating when i didnt make it inside until 3:30pm. Crazy huh? Trust me the session ended at 5pm on the dot as well. The staff were all really young. Everyone was helpful for the most part. They didnt seem enthusiastic about answering any questions or providing help BUT they did it. We paid $70 for five people to get in and three skate rentals. We also ended up paying another $21 for three skate mate rails. The rink is huge. It was nice and clean. I love that it seems to be alot of families who visit. It helps alot because you dont have to worry about adults trampling over kids being aggressive skaters. This place does have lockers that you can rent for 50cents. We stuffed all our belongings in there for easy skating. There's a consession stand that has nothing. The slushy machine was magically down when i got to the front of the line however, there was multiple kids walking around with a slushy. They have water and other beverages but honestly not much. I would eat before or after coming here. The rental skates weren't the best. My feet where killing me because they were really hard. Next time i will definitely bring my own pair instead. For the small kids skates, the adjustable ones, you have to leave your ID or car keys behind as collateral. Which i think is nuts. Supposedly people steal them so they started doing that. Honestly this place is great to skate. I will solely come here for that reason. Its a great way to allow kids to blow off some steam and just get a little exercise. I've heard this place described as "ghetto" yet I don't find that to be true. This isn't a luxury rink or something fancy, just a casual place to skate and have a good time. Yes it can be a little disorganized on the inside with personal belongings sometimes just tossed about. You may find a pair of shoes thrown under a bench or a sweater tossed over a chair but really, it's nothing too distracting. They have that classic funky 90s retro carpet that takes me down memory lane. Arcade games are available too. And don't let the professional looking 12yr old busting spins and twirls keep you from getting out there and giving it a go! I'm looking forward to going back for the DJ nights. Great place to skate and appears to be one of the only places left in Northern Jersey. Facility was clean and the duration of skate time was adequate. Some points off for SOME staff (not all), that were just rude. More points off for the fact that they sell previously prepared food. The food is very expensive and it reminds of school cafeteria food. When you order they take the already prepared plates out and hand if to you- only God knows how long it's been there. My 6 year old rarely express interest in a lot of sports but I was so surprised he said he wanted to roller skate after his class went on a field trip to a different roller rink (which is a lot further from us). But he specifically wanted a place with skate mates and so I looked it up and tada, this place had skate mates and lessons. $20 for a 1 hour lesson plus an additional 2 hours for guaranteed entry to the open skate. The lesson is divided into 3 different levels: kids/super beginners, beginners, and advanced. The instructor was ok but I feel like she didn't really try to get the kids engaged, it was more free skate and getting used to the feeling of skating. My husband was in the beginner and there was more formal lessons. Overall, I think the place is decent for a family experience. I don't go to roller rinks often to say how well this place is run compare to others but to sum it up: Pros: - Staff are really nice and helpful. I suspect they might have changed the staff since the previous reviews but I was pleasantly surprised how nice everyone is. - The DJ was spot on with some of the music. Although I didn't get to skate because I was watching my 2 year old, it really got me pumping with the music. Even my 2 year old at point was dancing to the music. - Skate mates are free with the lesson otherwise it's $7 to rent. Cons: - I initially thought it would be nice for all four us to take lessons together but as expected, my 2 year old freaked out after being 10 seconds on the roller rink. He was fine getting into the adjustable skates and walking along the carpet but the roller rink intimidated him. So I ended up forfeiting both of our lessons and we ended up being spectators (there's also a $5 spectator fee if you just want to spectate). So there goes $40 down the drain. But my point is, I wish 2 year olds didn't have to pay the full $20 lesson. It should be waived or reduced price. Because these situations happen where toddlers act up and not wanting to do anything. - Food is very limited. Pizza, hot dogs, or chicken fingers and fries. - Lockers are a little confusing at first. A lot of them didn't have keys attached to it so I guess we were lucky we got there before it was open to public otherwise the ones with keys are very limited. And if you do lose the keys, it's $25! The rink has a good quality floor and it is up-kept most rinks in the area. However, if you go on an "adult night" you need to make sure you bring headphones, preferably noise canceling because the music selection is not good. There is always the same rotation of 3-4 djs for adult nights and they all cater to the few skaters who have been going there for years and enjoy house music. The majority of skaters that attend the rink are beginner to intermediate or traveling from other states and would appreciate a variety of music, not just house 95% of the time. Its not even like its different house songs on different days, played by different djs. They all play the same rotation of the same house songs. Please do something about this! read more

12/21 - 3 stars for family oriented and all employees were nice and helpful -- excluding 1 security guard - He yelled at us to leave at 6:20pm because my daughter's 8 friends took too long to collect their stuff from the scattered lockers after closing. They are nice teenage kids. That was so extra and unnecessary. Also, we arrived on time at 3pm, but could only find 4 lockers with keys! I actually removed stuff from 2 lockers that had keys that were not being used. No way was I going to leave my daughter's gifts and other items unattended! My 5 star review is based on my experience with the Saturday 10am(drop-in group lesson) & 11am-1pm practice session. A Parking lot surrounds the facility & their website was informative which pretty much explained everything. Check the FAQ section so you're sure you aren't surprised by rates, skates & dates! BARS!! Lol The young lady "Taz" at the door was a doll! She was super pleasant to all that entered, provided quarters necessary for the lockers if needed, and wished everyone to enjoy themselves. Very welcoming attitude. The young man at the skate rental was also pleasant. Even tho I only had 1 question, he guided me in the right direction with a warm smile. The rink was clean (tho I didn't venture the concession area, the ladies room or anywhere else; too excited!) they provide wrist guards & lockers (I only put a reusable shopping bag with my sneakers inside the locker unlocked & wasn't concerned with theft as the atmosphere didn't have that vibe. I carry a fanny pack & brought my own quad skates/safety gear) The rink was divided into 3 groups for the lesson; Mendell was the instructor for us BEGINNERS (I apologize if the name is incorrect but it's something like that, lol) 1-SUPER beginner/just free skating 2-BEGINNERS (Me!)- basic techniques 3-ADVANCED (Not Me!) Fancy footwork techniques etc. He was patient though he does it like he was born with skates on his feet and tried to fit just enough in to get you started. I need more practice because a few times he sounding like "Charlie Browns teacher, y'know "qua qua, qua qua qua lol! However, he did assist in my "help me!" a few times once we were in the skating practice time slot. He also attended to others so I couldn't expect a 1 on 1 for an extended period. SUPER encouraging and sure of himself. You're learning with one of best type of panache. The young man referee with a whistle, a black & white stripe Footlocker-ish uniform was easy to spot & super busy helping the fallen patrons stabilize to keep fluidity & the floor clear of pileups. The DJ can clearly be heard instructing patrons of the skating floor rules, maintaining safety if there were violations which happened just a few times. (Wrong direction, no stopping on the wall etc) The music was touch of older & newer jams but very family friendly. Some classics had me move better than I actually am which resulted in my 1st FALL!! Ha! I found the volume level was fine. The lights/decor were fine also. The other patrons were extremely nice! Skilled & beginner, younger & older, a few really fast & fancy but a lot more slower & less intimidating. I even asked for help from a couple of the seasoned skaters and they were happy to help me! I also conversed with many of them and they were all non judgmental. As time went on, more grown-ups & more children with skate mates, (most falling like they broke something!!) occupied the floor so you DEFINITELY had to watch for them. They made me be more attentive to my surrounding which helped me a lot with learning my backwards skating!!! Clearing the floor was swift, to ready for the next time slot. "You ain't gotta go home, but you gotta get outta here!" type of structure. In conclusion, I FELL 3x, I got right back up and continued in having fun making progress. It was my idea to take our kids to an indoor roller skating rink for our family fun day and my husband found this place in Jersey so we decided to go last Saturday even though it was about 90 minutes away from Long Island. This is an activity that we have never done before so we thought it would be a fun experience for the kids. Finding this place can be a little difficult because there isn't huge signs until you actually drive into the park. There are plenty of parking spaces but we would recommend getting there when they first open at 11:30 am (first session) to avoid any crowds. Please don't make any judgement of this place by the neighborhood or the location until you experience it for yourself. We paid $50 ($9 adults/ $8 kids/ $4 skate rental) for the 4 of us, which included admission, skate rental and unlimited skate time from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. There was 1 customer service representative, which gave excellent service compared to everyone else because he cared about all the kids having fun and checked on them when they fell down. He was very friendly and joked around with all the customers, which made this experience extra special. This place was very spacious and there were only about 20 people skating during the entire time we were there. Both our kids had a great time including us because it was not crowded so they can learn to skate at their own pace. We'll be back again. read more

I took my 2 yrs old and 3 nephews. I absolutely LOVED IT! The place was clean. Staff was nice. They had some really nice flashing/light up add ons that were so much fun, they have a cafe with clean seating area, they also had a dippin' dots ice cream machine, and they rent out "tripods" (I have no idea what they are called) for children and adults who need support to roller skate to hold on to as they glide through the rink. There was plenty of parking. We went for a family night. We had to fill out a form (adults only) at the entrance, which took away from the skating time. I wish they would have this available online. We hosted my daughter's 10th birthday party here and it turned out to be an epic event for the kids and the parents. The facility was clean; and the overall operation for checking-in and settling any outstanding balance for the party was efficient. There was a separate entry line for booked parties, and the outstanding balance could be settled with your party host. Our party host, Nakir, was amazing. He introduced himself right away and seemed to pop-up out of nowhere exactly when he was needed. I had a couple of special requests that he granted without any pushback or delay. Though he was definitely young, Nakir's professionalism was solid! BBP should give this guy a promotion. Food - not a single complaint! Pizza was surprisingly good! All pies came out hot and fresh! There were also no complaints about the wings or chicken fingers. All in all, I am extremely happy with BBP. We are planning to return with and without the kids! My only 2 complaint would be they can build a Line trying to get in. Only one cashier. With it being the weekend and you have parties planned. Should be two cashiers easily or one just direction party members in. 2) The parking lot it's not the safest place. Enough said about that. The skate floor is very good. Kept up well. The place in general is very clean considering the parties and it's filled with kids. The birthday party area is spacious and good for a good number of kids. They have waitresses for the area and bringing out the pizza and beverages. They deserve extra pay dealing with parties. It's a lot of work. The music want too bad. When having kid parties. I don't even know the last time I've come across such a terrible business as this one. This roller skating center does everything wrong. So unorganized, so dirty, just not worth a single penny or a single minute of your time. When I first came in, there was a long line to just pay for admissions. This was on a Saturday night. Also by 8 o'clock, size 6, 7, 8 and nine were out of stock and maybe 30 minutes later, size 10 was also out of stock. They also only carry men sizes. I don't understand how a roller rink doesn't carry enough skates to accommodate how busy they get. To be out of five sizes is absurd. I didn't even get to skate and then they told me I couldn't get a refund! So rude. The employees also weren't the most professional. I understand hiring high school and college kids for a business like this but it's still important to teach them customer service. They all look like they hated their job and did it so slowly. For several minutes, the employees were nowhere to be found at the roller blade pick up. They were all in the back trying to stock the shelves. That's important but you would think at least one person would be out attending to customers. The place itself is also just very dirty. There was crumbs all over the place. The food is cheap though. The combos are decently priced. I suppose a lot of people come here for their birthday, especially children. They took all the skaters off the floor to give a birthday shout out to whoever is hosting a party that night. It just seems like a waste of time. There was also times when skaters were kicked off the rink for no apparent reason. It doesn't seem like this establishment is smoothly run. read more
