Ward's Supermarket is a small market located in Gainesville, Florida that what's a strong emphasis on their meats department and produce department. They have decent prices in both, so you have to be careful because some things are not that great of a deal quite honestly. I guess you can say that about every supermarket, though I did want to mention that here. Pulling into the store, you cannot help but be charmed by the quaint exterior. The exterior really does catch your eye and kind of gives that small-town independent market vibe. While Ward's is definitely an independent market, I think it would be a far stretch for anyone to call Gainesville a small-town. Inside, I noticed that the store is small. Again, this is not a bad thing. However, do not expect a big Supermarket that is going to go head-to-head with other supermarkets like Publix, Walmart, Winn-Dixie, etc., but I do not think any customer that knows this place really cares about that. While there I noticed a package of hot dogs made locally. The brand was Wild Man Foods, but the package had an $11.99 price tag and that is a bit much for skinless hot dogs. All in all, this is a cool little supermarket. Overall, I give them four stars ().

Wards has been my favorite store in Gainesville for years now. I've made 5 star reviews in the past, but for some reason they have been removed. So, I'm here again to say this store is amazing! Their selection of fresh produce, the plants, the meat section. I was excited to finally find some pink guava! All very reasonable prices too. They have prepared hot foods like smoked meats and side dishes like Mac and cheese, collards, macaroni salad and more. I've tried them all and they are delicious! Don't forget to grab one of their homemade cookies on the way out. The peanut butter cup cookies are my absolute favorite! The people are oh so very nice. I never leave Gainesville without stopping here first!

I was at Publix and all the produce looked so unappealing so I decided to try out Ward's. Super friendly and helpful staff, it's a relatively small space but it's organized so well. GORGEOUS greens, I found everything I needed and more :) there's a nice selection of plants in the front I didn't have a chance to look at but I'll definitely be back, this is where I'll be buying produce and meats from now on.

Finally tried this awesome spot located in the 4th Ave Food Park! I had heard so much about this…read moreplace and it was even featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives". Their menu consists of some staple sandwiches, wraps, sausage dogs, and salads, along with daily specials. They also have a meat counter where you can buy a variety of very unique flavored/seasoned meats that are all made in house. The shop isn't super big and there is limited indoor seating. Although the food park offers plenty of coveted outdoor seating options. Service was great and pretty quick. The guy who took my order was helpful in answering my questions too. Everything is made fresh to order with higher quality ingredients. This is very evident in the taste of the sandwiches, they are truly next level! I ended up ordering a Muffuletta sandwich and a walking taco. Both of these were on the daily special menu. The muffuletta was loaded with ham, salami, mortadella, Swiss cheese, provolone, olives, Dijon aioli, lettuce, tomato, and onion on ciabatta. This sandwich was huge! The meat was super flavorful and you could really taste each one of them in each bite. I loved the ciabatta, especially because it wasn't too thick and didn't take away from the sandwich. The cheeses were mild melted perfectly on the sandwich. The fresh tomato's, lettuce, and onion complimented the other components nicely as well. I will say I wish the olives and aioli had been more prominent, as this is what truly makes a muffuletta of muffuletta. So I wouldn't really classify this as a traditional muffuletta sandwich and it reminded me more of an Italian sandwich. The walking taco included Fritos, chilli, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, and house-made ranch. I thought these were decent. This wasn't the most impressive thing, but it was still tasty. I wish there had been more meat in the chilli and the cheese was melted on top of the Fritos. The onions were simply chopped red onions and seemed too strong for the dish. While this was good, it isn't something I'd go out of the way to order. I would probably stick to the sandwiches and such as that is what truly shines here! Overall, I was more than impressed with this place. I love that it is located in the food park too! Ordering is easy and the service is welcoming. They offer a nice variety of deli options and there is something for everyone. You can taste the difference in the food here compared to other places. They use high quality ingredients and put a lot of passion into their work. I also love that they have fun switching up parts of the menu daily with unique options. While my muffuletta reminded me more of an Italian sando, it was still one of the best sandwiches I've had in the area by far. The sandwich was absolutely packed with meat and made the price completely justifiable. The bread was really fresh and not too thick, which I really appreciated. The walking taco was decent, but nothing to ride home about. If you are in the area and want a good sandwich, I HIGHLY recommend stopping by.

No major issues with the store, not the cleanest, brightest or comfortable place to shop, but the prices are reasonable for a meat/seafood market and they have all of the fixins' needed for a Sunday dinner after church! This day, I visited the walk-up window as I was craving a crab tray with all of the works. The woman behind the counter is the same one that's always there. What I've learned is that initially, I'm always underwhelmed by the customer service lol. She'll talk on the phone the entire order BUT she will get that order! I appreciate that the few times I have completed an order with her, she does give me a big smile and salutations and it truly goes a long way so I won't say that the service is beyond poor at all. The woman taking my order informed me that there were no more crabs which was understandable because I visited 30min before closing. I decided on a full Garlic Shrimp tray and 2 pieces of corn, 2 potatoes and 1 sausage (Heads Up: they are NOT included in the trays!!) I waited about 15 min or less and my order was ready, not a terrible wait in my eyes for seafood. I loved the sauce (although I'm regretting all of that butter today) and loved the corn & potatoes which are pretty hard to mess up. (I will say that those TWO potatoes = two slices of a potato, which is essentially 1/4th of a full potato... they should work on that math because the portion was beyond disappointing.) Both the sausage and the shrimp all tasted like they had been under a burner for hours, as they were overcooked like crazy. The full tray comes with 10 Shrimp but it seems that they gave me a little extra which I appreciate, but I only ate about 4 of them because they were so chewy. :( There's an art to Shrimp and that goes out of the window if they're not fresh or simply being reheated. I truly wish there were more seafood options in the city or I wouldn't have felt so desperate to go here! I appreciate the store, the available options and the smiles, but I don't think I will be coming back for another tray.
