This new Winn Dixie is a welcome addition to Gainesville, and in my opinion will be great competition to Publix and other supermarkets. I know that Winn Dixie locations have struggled in the past, and I've certainly seen a "spectrum of quality" from Winn Dixie's in the Gainesville, Jacksonville, and South Florida cities. This Winn Dixie is unique in that it has a very robust dining area, and a little bar! They also had music playing in this area, so it could be a great spot to each lunch or dinner before shopping. You can literally sit down, eat a full meal here from the hot bar area, deli, or order sushi. Their sushi and sashimi is made fresh, right in front of the customer and there are premade and made to order options. The customer service was also great from my interactions with employees. The deals, and pricing is also very competitive. I think this is a great example of what Winn Dixie supermarkets should strive to be. I know that there are different nuances of each store. I've seen a Winn Dixie in South, FL which had one of the largest chicken bars including a variety of sauces, and a mini Chinese food market area. While Winn Dixie is a distance away from where I live ( I live right across from a Publix), whenever I am on this side of the town I'll be very tempted to stop in and take a peek at the offers.

I like me some Fresh Market; we've been friends for years and years. Back in the day, we'd do a fun…read moremonthly shop every so often here but with Pubix charging 38% more than Walmart these days, ask me how I know, there's not as much sticker shock anymore. It's actually cheaper to shop Aldi on Instacart and get it delivered to the house than go to Publix. And RIP Kroger. Meats are just better and often cheaper here. Bakery's fantastic. Sushilicious! lol Don't even ask me about the rotisserie chicken. Worlds better. You don't want that Pubix pigeon. Jyeah, you could totally upgrade yourself into bankruptcy shopping interesting and unusual things but you don't have to. Stick to the script and you'll be better off for it. I'm still relishing the delicious filet, chops, those wildly giant asparagus and lobster we've bought here over the last many months.

I keep coming back for their salmon salad with dill and cucumber. It's so fresh, flavorful, and honestly one of the best grab-and-go meals I've had. I always end up picking up a croissant box & something from their baked goods section. They're buttery, flaky perfection. The ambiance is warm and I always feel relaxed once I come in. Lighting is perfect because it makes you want to stay longer and they might be on to something there. I find myself taking my sweet time going from aisle to aisle with no rush. While I'm there, I like to explore their drink section, they always have something interesting, whether it's a unique juice, botanical soda, or a fancy iced tea I haven't seen before. They have a great range of high-quality products, and it's fun to venture off and splurge on 3-4 special items every few months. Not an everyday stop for me, but definitely one I look forward to when I want a little upgrade from my usual grocery run. To note, you must sign up for their rewards and you get a free slice of cake! The last slice I had for my birthday last year was delicious and I can't wait for this next time since my birth month is right around the corner.

The grocery offers most everything you'd want from a pan-Middle Eastern grocer: dry goods, teas, frozen food, fragrant waters, syrups, canned goods, et cetera. They also have a good selection of baklava and other treats by the front counter worth checking out: they get different sweets in sometimes--always baklava but sometimes also namoura cake and other things. When they have sari burma it's normally excellent, so look for that as well. They also have a good spice selection and try to include a lot of Turkish and Persian speciality items as well (this include Turkish frozen goods and yes, the pudding mixes also). The restaurant portion is a buffet and they have a hot bar and cold bar. The hot bar has traditional Egyptian foods and was very good when I tried it while the cold bar has things that could also be taken away like hummus, salads, and babaganoush. You can get the hot bar to-go as well, but having things like hummus is a big deal because you can purchase enough to have on hand for the week. I hope the restaurant continues to work out for them: buffets only make money if they have a lot of customers, so I really hope the community supports this fine establish and wonderful people who own and run it.

Chorizo and morning sausages from many countries in Central and South America....and more! That being said, if you try to speak Spanish to the cashier, she will mostly speak back to you in English. I worked up my nerve to ask about a product that wasn't on the shelf, and she responded in Spanish, but immediately reverted to English, as if she were offended by my Spanish. So, if you are learning Spanish, practicing here, maybe isn't your best option. Little does she know I am a polyglot, so maybe next time I will just speak in Portuguese. She could have been friendlier like she was with the other Hispanic customers, just sayin'.

Out of respect to my grands the other customers I allowed him to yell and scream at me, why he was so angry I didn't know. No one (employees) tried to defuse the situation . I experienced a racist situation and it's so sad that my grands had to experience this type behavior in a grocery store. After reading the reviews the reason no one intervened because they don't really care for African Americans it so true but I never noticed I just got my produce and leave but they never greet the customer but talk among themselves, which I thought was rude. I've been going about 5 years or more. But I'm done, I use to eat at Mia apa I stopped because they acted like it was a crime for African American to dine in, I have never ordered another meal from them that's been about ten years ago.
