Interesting tour followed by a good meal. Good pulled pork BBQ. Nice, casual atmosphere.

This was a fantastic detour on my way from Knoxville to Nashville. Beautiful scenery on approach, comfortable inside dining area and a great back patio when the weather is nice. Staff were welcoming and helpful, you order at the counter and wait for your number to come out. Adult beverages in cans, delicious ribs, I especially loved the Cole slaw with a light sweet vinegar base and red peppers. Portions were very share-able. I came by myself this time but plan to bring my family soon!

Such high expectations were had for Warden's Table but, it fell a bit short. The hours listed on the website were not accurate. I came back later when they were supposed to be open--after 11AM--only for them to still not be open. There was even a line waiting. Next, it came across like customers weren't exactly a highlight of the day and made for a bit of a dampened atmosphere. Took most of my food to-go. The food itself was not as I had seen in other reviews. My baked beans and macaroni n' cheese were watery--that was a major disappointment. The pulled pork BBQ was barely warm. I would go back to see if they was just a bad day but I don't think I could do so without reservations.

The smoked bologna sandwich is gigantic in size and taste!! the dining area is set to look like a prison. It was an awesome experience!!

    Pork Nachos

Atmosphere was cool, clean. Food fell short, hamburger tasted awful, like it was meatloaf or something, was kind of mushy. Service was okay. Curly fries were good, nachos were just ok.

This was reasonable price and made fresh. The wardens table has a large variety of pulled pork, fresh smoked turkey and salads. Mac n cheese and even a Cuban press. The coleslaw was unique and delicious.

Great tasting dog itself ... Better if the bun was grilled. Would have been nice to have other condiments, relish, onion, jalapeno, etc. Mac cheese .... OK Nachos - pulled pork (4 star) Jalapeno - pickled? (5 star) Loved the setting - Beautiful views - Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary - (5 star)

Great food! The food at the Warden's Table was great and moderately priced. I got the nachos and my husband got the brisket sandwich. The girl at the register didn't seem to be thrilled she was there. I asked what was in the Convict Caviar and she pointed to a had written sign and said, "that", she had clearly been asked that a time or two. The food more than made up for it. We got to sit at a table in a jail cell. The atmosphere there was really cool.

This is at Brushy Mountain Penitentiary in the gift shop. Great choices for food. I had the pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese. The sandwich was great. The mac and cheese was ok, would try another side. They do give you a cookie. We also got pork nachos and pork baked potato. The decor inside is great. There was a local dog hanging out and was the calmest dog ever. We would definitely go back when in the area. I was surprised that they serve beer also.

Brushy Mtn. Penitentiary has been closed for many years and is now open as a tourist attraction, restaurant, and moonshine distillery brand named "End of the Line"... Guided tours $26 & general admission tours $16. The Warden's Table restaurant atmosphere and food is unique and worth the visit.

While on the site touring The Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary, we decided to experience it all and grab a bite to eat at The Warden's Table. I would call it more cafateria like then restaurant although not really either. Sandwiches, BBQ, and Sides. Sometimes they have Burgers but it's a changing menu and they aren't always an option. The atmosphere is open and unique. You're surrounded by bars to give it that prison feel. I had the Smoked Bologna and Pepper Jack Sandwich with Mac and Cheese. My Wife and Mother in Law went with the Club Sandwich and what looked like Arby's Curly Fries. All meals came with a Watermelon wedge and a Chocolate chip cookie. The food was nothing special but nothing to complain about either. A good option for a bite if you happen to be taking the prison tour. Not a place I would drive to specifically for the food though.

Surprisingly good bbq for a restaurant located in an attraction. Can get busy due to being on a trail from wind rock. Worth a trip!

One thing we really appreciated is that if it's your birthday, they give you a 25% discount, which was a great surprise and made the occasion even better. Our whole family had a wonderful time. Our 6-month-old daughter, Genesis, had a blast chewing on the ribs, and our one-year-old son, Titus, ate everything on his plate and clearly loved every bite! Thank you to everyone at Austin's Steak House for helping make my wife's birthday so memorable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service!

Be prepared they almost always have a weight come dinner time. They told us about a 25 minute wait but it really only you landed up like maybe 10 minutes for two people and a baby. It's very busy inside. You'll have to step around people a lot, but I feel like that's common for a buffet. Food was constantly being brought out and was nice and hot. I absolutely love their chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, and their green beans the mac & cheese was extremely watery and not that great and we were super disappointed in the steaks. They just tasted like fake or kind of gamy. Wasn't a fan of that, but there was definitely plenty of food to choose from and desserts! Our server was super sweet and made sure to refill our drinks and take our dirty plates often Overall, I think the food was good, especially for the price and there's a ton of options. It is a bit loud because tables are very close together. But again that just has a lot to do with the fact that it is a buffet place. Overall, I would say that it's like a golden corral on steroids

My wife, mom, and I arrived around 7:45 PM--just 15 minutes before their posted 8:00 PM closing time. I asked if it was too late to get dinner, and without hesitation, several staff members welcomed us in with big smiles and said, "not at all." That kind of genuine hospitality is rare, especially that close to closing. Brooklyn took care of us, and she was outstanding. From start to finish, she never once made us feel rushed, and neither did anyone else on staff. There wasn't even the slightest hint that they were trying to wrap things up for the night. That speaks volumes about the culture there. We've driven past this place for years saying, "we need to try it," and now our only regret is not stopping in sooner. The food was phenomenal--true Southern-style comfort food made fresh daily. I had the chicken fried steak, my wife had the pulled chicken, and my mom ordered the bologna sandwich. Every dish was spot on. My wife actually stopped in a month or two ago and has been going back every week or two since--and now I completely understand why. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and the entire staff gave the impression that they genuinely enjoy working there. That kind of environment doesn't happen by accident. They hit the mark in every area--food, service, cleanliness, and overall experience. 10 out of 10 cast iron skillets--seasoned to perfection and worth coming back for again and again. Highly recommend!!!

I had not been in DECADES -- but someone mentioned that they did a good chicken-fried steak, so I had to try. (I'm from Texas where CFS is part of the holy Trinity of Mexican, barbecue and CFS). Well, the CFS was pretty good, but I won't say great. Big, well-breaded, tasty and with good white gravy. But the sides were superb; I had fried green tomatoes and potato salad. I loved the chow-chow sauce combined with ranch dressing on the FGT, and the salad was very creamy and tasty. I'm not a potato salad snob; I've had it done many ways and I know some prefer one style over another....all I know is this went fast. Oh, by the way, it's a BIG meal. No person should eat all of that in one setting! I nearly forgot, I loved the cheese biscuit. It was very dense and so tasty. Hard to stop eating that before I packaged up about half my meal (and enjoyed very much the next day). Amenities-- they sell beer; even though I did not have that day, I know some meals I'd have loved to add a well-priced bottle. Service was great, friendly and responsive. I like the places that let me scan a QR code to pay and tip, and they had that. Also offered lots of desserets, both at the table and with a little bakery corner when you walk in/out, so you could pick up cookies, etc. At first I thought it was a bit pricey ($17 for most meat-and-two plates), but with the quality, worth it all. Oh, I even enjoyed the clientele...this is the kind of place full of older folks, one of whom had to comment on my food as she walked out, and then she stood and chatted with me a few minutes about how good it all was. Classic!
