On June 4, 2021, we signed a Myopia Control Service contract for my daughter, which clearly states Myopia Control Program Includes: - First year product and service (visits) - Yearly services, at least one visit per three months, up to the age of 19 years old. - Starter lens cleaning solutions. We paid $2500 ($400 for the Ortho K sphere lenses and $2100 for Ortho K service) upon signing the contract and started the Ortho K program. We were told at that time that for future years we only needed to pay the cost of lenses when new lenses are required due to prescription changes or damages). Now one year has passed, and we visited again this morning. We were told we need to renew the service to continue the myopia control program. She said it's not just for the cost of the lens, additional yearly fees goes without saying. When I took out the paper contract signed from last year and tried to point out what the contract says, she felt very upset and told us the original contract is voided if we don't pay to renew the service. Wow, a formal written signed contract can be voided arbitrarily by her just like snapping a finger!!!!! And she even charged today's visit to OHIP instead of covering under the service contract which states at least 1 visit per three month till my daughter is 19. So basically we paid $2100 for our first years' 6~7 times visits!!!!! We didn't want to waste any time arguing further with this place with NO honesty, NO professionalism and NO business ethics whatsoever. I had the same issues with this optometrist that a couple of other reviewers mentioned below. She tried to rip me off with the contact lens prescription. When I told her that I've never had to pay a second fee for a contact lens prescription in my years of seeing other eye doctors, she got really defensive and left messages and emails with links to different websites and explanations. She also made me do a secondary eye exam for another cost because she was "worried" about something developing in my eyes. Again, my other eye doctors never mentioned seeing something. She also tried to sell me on the products in her store - she tried pretty hard. I understand you're trying to make a living, but stop trying to rip patients off and upselling all of your products. Not only that, but she was extremely rude and defensive if you questioned something. Worst eye doctor experience and would not recommend to anyone. read more

Writing this on behalf of my dad, who is a senior. Point of story: for an honest doctor, go elsewhere. He went for an eye exam here (first time) due to proximity to home, usual prescription is -1.5. Following the exam, doctor said "you need reading glasses", then led him to the storefront and picked out frames for him. Told him to pick up in a few days, then cashed him out. When my dad found out the price, it was "too late" to pick new frames or cancel the order. she gave him HUGO BOSS frames and these reading glasses (only to be used for reading) cost $400+. Now of course, it was my poor dad's fault for being so naive in trusting a doctor wholeheartedly and never asking for price etc. BUT I do think this is a perfect example of how this office only aims to make a profit. Highly would NOT recommend this place. 2 days ago I went in for what they call a "comprehensive eye examination" and was charged $135. Dr liang insist I come back for a follow up because I had some allergies on my eye lid and she prescribed me with an over the counter ointment for my eyes. Today I went in for my follow up appointment. Dr liang took a look at my eye with her microscope for a minute and told me to continue to use the ointment and it should help clear the allergy. I come out of the exam and was surprised to be charged for a PARTIAL eye exam.. of $30. Why am I being charged for a follow up? This should have been included in my initial examination. At the very least, Dr. Liang should have disclosed that a follow up would have been an additional fee. It saddens me to see such deceptive business practices happening in my community. If you are looking for an honest optometrist, look else where. read more

I had the worst experience with Warden Optometry. I booked an appointment with them and came in on a Friday afternoon. The Optometrist did not have a receptionist assisting her that day. I understood she was a bit stressed, but I was the only patient there. She rushed my registration process, autorefractor test, and eye exam like I was interrupting her schedule for her next patient. When she was wiping the autorefractor chin rest with alcohol, she might as well not wipe it because she did not even wipe 80% of the surface. Her next patient came half way into our exam, and she rushed the rest of my exam so she can see her next patient. This was the fastest eye exam I've ever had in my life. She proceeded with providing me a contact lens exam/prescription when I didn't ask for one. When I stopped her and said I didn't want one, or asked her questions on why I was able to get contact lenses without a prescription in the past, she got very defensive. This place overcharges in comparison to others in Markham. They charge $90 for an eye exam and $190 for both the eye exam and contact lens prescription. In the end, I decided to get the contact lens prescription because she made me feel incredibly guilty for harming my eyes without a proper exam. She then tried to sell me the Coopervision brand of contacts in her store. I mentioned to her that I'm very comfortable using the Total One's, which is one of the best in the industry right now recommended by multiple practitioners I've spoken to in the past. However, Dr. Liang got defensive again and says it's not a good brand at all, and that the brand she sells is the only one she recommends. Coopervision is really good as well, I've tested it out. But I was surprised that she was so defensive when I mentioned the Total One's I was using and also the fact that she kept on selling me on the contacts. I walked out of her office and she already gave me the bill for the contacts. I had to cancel it because I never confirmed with purchasing it in the first place. I called them back to confirm the prices for the contacts. The receptionist was impatient with me because I couldn't listen/understand what she was saying, and kindly asked her to repeat the prices. I definitely would not recommend anyone to this optometrist. And hope this brings down their score because 4 stars is not a true representation of their services. read more

This is the worst optometry ever! I saw dr Liang before and she's so unprofessional. After she saw one patient, she didn't wash her hands and came to me. My eyes got INFECTED after the eye exam. Clinic is so dirty especially the equipment. Price is unreasonable by the poor service, and she was trying so hard to sell me eye glasses and contact lens. Is that a eye glasses store or what?? 4 star point in yelp is definitely not true. My eyes kept tearing and lasted for 2 WEEKS. So, If you wanna risk your eyes, you can go to this clinic. Not recommended!! We brought our kid to her clinic for a regular eye exam. After the exam, she said we need to buy a pair of glasses for kid, it costs $600. Then we need to do another special eye test for kid later and costs $240. She did not completely explain why our kid needs a pair of glasses so expensive, she just said kid's eyes are so tired for seeing far subjects to closer subjects. And she said our kid is farsighted but never told me that expensive glasses was a progressive glasses. I tried to ask her more about the eye exam result, but she did not answer my exactly questions, just like avoided the key points and said something not relative. I was so confused after the eye exam. I only know the glasses are really expensive. For kid in age 7 - 8, farsighted is a normal for this age children, (I know this because I checked online by myself recectly), but Dr. Liang never say she is normal. She gave me the comment was my kid needs a pair of glasses because she is farsighted, and no other things we need to concern. I went to an optical store where I always buy contact lens to ask about my kid's situation with prescription from Dr. Liang. They helped me to check her eyes again. They said it's not necessary to give her a glasses right now, especially the progressive glasses, it should not for kid!! read more

I went for an eye exam and to get glasses in December of last year and Yan was extremely helpful as well as professional. She didn't rush through exam and answered all my questions. She also took time while I picked the frame that I wanted. I'm looking forward to coming back soon for another pair or sun glasses. read more

Worst assessment ever. My vision has been stable for the past 10 years. I just needed an updated prescription for new glasses. Dr. Liang was adamant that I had a "significant" change. Had problems adjusting to the "new" prescription. I had to pay another doctor for a second exam. It turns out that I was over prescribed and that lead to dizziness and eye strain. This is the first time I visit a canada's glass shop Now I am afraid I would never try it again. it make me feel that all the doctor is evil only for money. and lied me 3 times, 2 times return empty hand to get my glasses, one time promised a certification doc, but I didn't get it finally. no there is no crizal mark on the glasses, I am worry if it is fake in case that there bad service for me . it is a totally bad experience. they just want me buy it, never think I am their customer. Worst experience with a doctor. I've been wearing contacts for 15 years and have never had this much of an issue getting my prescription from a doctor. She told checked my eyes gave me a trial set to see if i liked the new brand SHE recommended and set a follow up appointment for 15 days later for dilation. I called her office on Friday (day 10 which is the last day of the trial lenses) to get my prescription from them. The receptionist said she would fax it, called back in 5 minutes left a message, i called her back 5 mins after and she was gone. I was left all weekend (a LONG weekend) with no contacts and had to wear my old prescription sun glasses. When I talked to the receptionist today after the long weekend she told me the doctor wanted to review the prescription. The doctor gets on the phone and tells me I have to go for a follow up to check if my eyes are infected or some other nonsense like that. After explaining I have no more contacts and need my prescription right now and I do not want to go for a follow up since I have never done that before in 15 years and she should have told me the before sending me home. She refused to give me my prescription without coming for follow up and when i said fine i'll come for the follow up and then I want my prescription she told me she will NOT release my prescription for 3 months. I asked during this time what am I supposed to do about getting my contacts she said I could by them from there. When i explained I do not want to spend another penny or moment in her office she kept refusing to give my prescription and said as a responsible optometrist she has to follow the rules of the Ontario optometry association and that its their rules. AGAIN nonsense. She pretty much wanted to force me to buy my contacts from her since I called the Optometry association and they told me such a thing does not exist and they recommended I call her back and explain if she does not release my prescription I will make a formal complaint with the College of Optometry. Being lied to by a doctor is the lowest of all lows. Never have I seen such a thing. for $50 this doctor lied and tried to cheat her way to force me to buy my contacts from her. Of course after my threat of calling the college of optometry she did finally fax my prescription but again came up with some excuse that she can not take responsibility and she has to make sure there is no brand on the prescription. Sorry but I've never seen a brand on a prescription for contacts. again BS. such a shame that dishonest people like her are able to practice medicine and work on peoples eyes and that is the exact reason why I will be going to another optometrist to check my eyes since I do not trust this woman one bit. read more

First of all I want to say that Doris is a excellent receptionist with great soft skills. Very helpful and show great care on the phone and in person. However dr. Yan l. Liang is far from this. She is rude and shows that she is just in this field for the money. She is rushing you through the appointment and don't show any care. I didnt feel comfortable with her final decision so I will be going to another dr to get a second opinion. You should feel like the person with knowledge wants the best eye care for you but this is not my experience. Dr. Yan l. Liang I hope you review my opinion and go back to school to learn some Doctor ethic skills. You maybe a Dr. But you have no customer service skills and lack ethics. Waste of my time and not worth $95 for this appointment. I would have walked out of the appointment if I knew my experience was going to be so unprofessional like this one on April 19. 2016. For Doris please get a different job you are great and should work with someone with more ethics. read more
