JD was instrumental in testing the water damage and moisture content in a bathroom ceiling. It appeared the water originated from a plumbing issue in the bathroom located directly above. We had arranged for a hole in the ceiling to be made where the water damage occurred. We also had cut a hole in the wall in the unit located in the story above where the water originated. He set up a dehumidifier and a blower that operated for the next several days. He was prompt in his visit, and returned four days later, as promised, to re-test the moisture content. Satisfied that all was well, he removed the equipment. We arranged for the two holes to be patched up and painted. Excellent help from a technician with more than 20 years experience! I would hire Ward-Tek again without reservation. read more

This was not a good experience. A small restoration dragged on for over 6-months, because the project manager was too busy working on other jobs and several times I needed to intervene to speed up the project. No one likes to be displaced from their homes, but these contractors made the experience uncomfortable to downright horrible. For instance, I was told we were delayed because they couldn't get in contact with the tile guy, for 3-weeks. I called him, and he got back to me immediately. I was given less than 2hours notice to pick out new light fixtures because there was a scheduled inspection. Whereas, I assumed we would restore the old fixtures, but I was told they were beyond repair. After I moved back in, I took them to shop and a small electrical detail was added within 2hours, for $60. But then, I had to pay out of pocket to have the original fixtures installed, and the pretty horrible ones removed. I was given less than 24 hours to chose tile. Several examples of how the communication and pressure to make urgent decisions was placed back on me, the displaced person, desperate to move home, only to have the entire project still drag on because of poor communication. They were recommended by my insurance company - but do your due diligence!! They will do the bare minimum and just charge your insurance company more. I wish I had identified contractors that respected my opinion, since this is my property & I will live here for many more years - but I was desperate to get the damage sorted, although nothing made them speed up. 2 years later - still making repairs (out of my pocket), for mistakes that would have been easily caught if I was given a proper amount of time for decision making. read more

If I could give this company zero stars I would. We were initially referred to them via our home insurance company once we discovered water leakage and mold. This company is extremely unprofessional. We confirmed a date for a technician to provide an estimate on 1/6/2021 at 9:00AM - 10:00PM with the staff members Karen and Gilberto. A family member took time off of work to be on-site for the inspection as the rest of the family were deemed as essential workers. At 11:00AM, no one had showed up and we did not receive any communication regarding the status or ETA of our technician. I called at 10:55AM and 11:02AM and finally received a curt email from Karen stating our technician was busy and that he would arrive tomorrow. I understand they're under considerable strain, but I do not think that you email the client an hour AFTER their appointment to tell them it's being rescheduled for tomorrow and she still did not provide a time. Gilberto assured us we would get seen today at 1:00PM-2:00PM. I took the initiative multiple times to reschedule with this company and they seem unwilling to assist or even provide any clarity or insight. To be fair, Gilberto is extremely nice and explained the reasoning for the delay and apologized. He is very professional and helpful. This review is not a reflection of the technician, but the terrible service and lack of communication I received from their company as a whole. Every time I called to follow up, their employees seemed irritated that I wanted an update or to work something out regarding scheduling. You will meet him during a time of extreme stress and disruption but somehow you will end up smiling and laughing and looking forward to seeing him again the next day and the day after etc until their work is done. Luke was extremely pleasant, charming and competent. He answers any questions and explains in detail what he's doing and why and how to take the next steps to get your house back. He is happy to work with insurance adjusters, contractors and other service people who may be brought in during the process and will be as much of a liaison as you want. His availability is 24/7, even on holiday weekends. This company did an excellent job for us. A neighbor lost control of his car, and did significant damage to our home. From estimate thru construction to completion, we were pleased. Thank goodness our insurance company, State Farm, recommended Ward-Tek! We had a leak in our guest bathroom's roof that needed to be fixed. We called Ward-Tek and they were out soon to give us an estimate. Kerry's estimate was right on. It was so easy to schedule the date for the work to be done with Karen. The project manager came over the day before they started, and then the workers did an excellent job!! Very hard workers and the bathroom looks great now. 2.5 months ago, our neighbor 2 floors above left their bathtub running, causing significant damage to our condo unit (in fact everything from 18-4th floor). Many walls and ceilings had to be repaired. Our master bedroom closet organizers were destroyed, and the hardwood floor was a total loss. We immediately called Farmers who dispatched Service Master on the same day to start the drying out process. The adjuster came out the next day for the damage estimate, and gave us recommendation for 3 contractors. After getting estimates from all three, we decided on Ward-Tek, because their estimate used the adjuster's as a starting point (and therefore easily approved), and they seemed more willing and able to commit to a start date. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and getting our home restored before the party was a key priority! Today, all the work has been completed, and I am very happy with Ward-Tek. Once we set a start date, they showed up on-time, worked consistently, and did high quality work. There were a some unexpected issues, eg., they didn't put the insulation back in the ceiling in one room before they fixed it, but remedied the problem without any additional charge or extra time. In fact, they finished early! Rebecca the receptionist/office manager was excellent. She was always polite and helpful even though I called her all the time :). Sometimes it took her a few hours to get back to me, but she always had an answer or solution. The only reasons I'm not giving them 5 stars was that they didn't truly act as general contractors, even though they charged a project management fee. I had to do all of the coordination with the flooring contractor, and there was a bit of finger-pointing / responsibility shifting. That said, the "true" general contractor recommended by Farmers, the HOA, and hired by our neighbors, haven't even started on the work yet! Another minor drawback was that I was hoping to take advantage of the construction window to do some minor update in the kitchen (change countertop, backsplash, and remove wallpaper). Ward-Tek didn't really seem to want to do the project and gave me some pretty outrageous estimates. Perhaps they mostly focus on insurance/restoration work? We decided to focus on just the repairs. In summary, if you're looking for someone who can get your home back in shape quickly while doing high quality work, and don't mind overseeing some aspects of the job, I can definitely recommend Ward-Tek. read more

Our house was impacted by fire recently, Ward-Tek was recommended by insurance to the inspection onsite for the repair. There was some miscommunication between insurance and Ward-Tek, it took them 4 weeks to figure out that they've got the wrong phone for scheduling. When the schedule was finally set, both my husband and myself took time off from work to meet with Kerry LeVan between 1-2pm on a Wednesday. We arrived before 1pm that day to wait for Kerry, after almost an hour waiting, Kerry finally showed up. We understand there are delays and changes on contractor's schedule, so delay is not uncommon. It's not the fact he is late that frustrated us most, it's the attitude and manner he carried. Kerry came in to our front year, without any apology or signs for feeling sorry for keeping us waiting. He rudely said "I was on time!" "my window is between 1-2pm, it's now 1:58pm, I'm on time". It is very rude, unprofessional and dis-respect of client's time. You could imaging hiring this company for actual repair work, how much time and frustration you would go through with disrespectful people like Kerry. I'm glad we found out at the initial appointment, save yourself some trouble and stress, stay away from this firm! read more

State Farm routed me to them after a fire damage as they are a preferred vendor with them. They have been so slow and unreliable with the estimates that they put together, the adjustor recommended me to not go ahead with them and we ended up starting the process from scratch with some other company. Being have to deal with them cost me 7 weeks of wasted time. Lying to people is not a good thing. I don't have the time (neither the interest) to explain all the details but as far as I could tell Bob seemed very comfortable (but not good) at lying. Also with regards to reliability, let me tell you that when I saw the first estimate they prepared, I thought nobody in the right mind would pay so much for this much of work. (otherwise all the software people would quit immediately and go to construction business...) So I was not surprised at all that the adjustor wanted to go over this estimate on-site. I was present at that meeting. It was going like the adjustor saying, so your estimate here says 9 feet of XYZ to be replaced, even if you want to replace it entirely I only see 6 feets of it, where is the rest, and Bob responding OK let's fix that. Your estimate says this needs to be replaced but this seems perfectly fine why do you think it needs to be replaced, OK cross that as well... and really, it wasn't like the adjustor was trying to get the estimate down by getting rid of some necessary items in the list in any way. Also, if you really put in a replacement into your estimate, that costs more than $10K I would expect you to be able to have at least a supporting argument, maybe not a great supporting argument but surely something better than just staring silently. Eventually they prepared another estimate that was less than two third of the first one. Based on the time it took them to prepare these estimates and how unreliable they have been with the numbers they came up with, the adjustor said I am sorry for the lost time with them so far I think starting this process from scratch with another company would be the best both for you and for State Farm. So we did. --- After writing all this, I got a call from the owner of the company telling me he understands and cares about the these problems, and he didn't know about these at the time, and now after seeing this he followed up with my estimator and decided to call me to apologize. From talking to the owner of the company, for example the way he asks some detailed questions about how something happened and so on, it is obvious that he does care sincerely and he is not faking it. I was never a paid customer of this company and honestly I really appreciate this kind of follow up. Above is my experience my Ward-Tek, and it is entirely true story, therefore I am not going to remove this review. However, I felt the need to add on top of the review because after talking to the owner of the company, because I don't think anymore that my experience above is a fair review of Ward-Tek entirely. I think it was a fair review of the estimator I had on my case, Bob. My advice to everyone working with Ward-Tek and get Bob assigned to their case is to ask for somebody else. And if you can't get somebody else on your case, ask until you do. read more

If you have a disaster that requires a restoration contractor, these people will only add insult (maybe even literally) to injury and cost you a lot more money in the end. They take advantage of people in trouble, do little to help, then charge whatever they want in the end. It's a great racket for making money and driving insurance rates up. On a personal level, they are rudest, most dishonest, inconsiderate bullies you could ever deal with. If you have to call a restoration contractor, take a chance with somebody else. .......... Unfortunately for me, I WAS a contracted client, and even more unfortunate, I had the displeasure of speaking with the author of Ward Tek's response to this review too many times. Neighbors shut off the water to my home after noticing water pouring out of my garage and front door. Major damage to upper floor and devastating damage to the lower floor. After interviewing a few local contractors I settled on Ward-Tek. Kerry LeVan of Ward-Tek. Instilled full confidence in me that he and his company knew their stuff, and would restore my home. Kerry spent a full day with my State Farm adjuster, they covered everything down to the last nail. Trust me it takes someone like Kerry to know all the in's and out's as to getting a fair settlement for proper repairs. The first adjuster that State Farm sent out also spent a day at the residence skipped 80% of what was needed to restore my home. Thanks to Kerry a second adjuster was sent out. All of the people I dealt with at Ward-Tek could not have been more professional, talented and pleasant. The work was done in a timely fashion. Ward-Tek, namely Karen took control and came to our rescue. In February of 2016, a gravel truck literally crashed and destroyed a third of our home. Karen was there from the beginning, coordinating the debris removal, clean-up, and especially working through the details with our insurance adjuster. I was assigned to have Ward-Tek td repair work from AAA insurance after we had massive water damage in our condo. Kerry was responsive and nice to work with, and I liked Manny the foreman too. They get 3 stars because communication with their office staff was pretty bad. They dropped the ball several times regarding HOA Architectural Review documents, and not communication well with sub- contractors (which in all fairness I picked out and maybe I should have gone with one of their normal subs) which resulted in several weeks of delay. They are probably great if you are more organized than I am and can stay on top of your own project's progress. read more

Words cannot express the fabulous service we received from Ward-Tek who completed a total rebuild of our house after a fire. From the beginning owner Kerry was at our service, meeting with us, answering our copious questions, always available. I can't imagine how this rebuild would have ever been completed without the help of comptroller Karen who does everything from providing detailed invoices, to installing doorknobs, to being available to answer our many questions 24/7. I was given their name through my insurance co after my dishwasher had a leak and I needed my floors replaced. From the get go they were amazing and so easy to deal with. Additionally they got things done on time and when they said they would be done which is something you cannot say about all contractors. Also, towards the end there was one additional detail that was left out that was going to add $200 to my total overall charge and I had no problem paying, but Kerry was nice enough to take care of it for me and that really was appreciated and went a very long way. After hearing about loosing my contract, and i'm guessing seeing my previous review, the Owner of Ward-tek called me directly to express his sincere apologies for the treatment committed by two of his staff members. I was honest with him and he was honest with me. I beleive that this owner genuinely cares about his business and his clients. And I hope that his staff will live up to the reputation he is trying to build and maintain. If i had dealt with someone else in Ward-Teks company maybe things would have been different. A cracked toilet tank flooded our downstairs while we were away over Thanksgiving necessitating major demolition and reconstruction of multiple rooms. Our insurance gave us a list of four recommended companies and after interviewing two we selected Ward-Tek are are happy we did. The initial estimate of damage was precise and complete as to the scope of the work. Every Ward-Tek workman was professional, efficient and neat. Scott, our foreman, was easy to work with, responsive to our needs, and gave us great advice. Although the work took longer than we expected due to scheduling of the various crews we needed, we are happy with the results. The only thing that Wark-Tek could do to improve the overall experience is to increase the communication between the front office and the client. But, having said that, we would choose Ward-Tek again if a similar need arose. read more

Our insurance company, referred us to Ward-Tec to get a hole in our bathroom ceiling and back wall of our bathroom repaired and painted from water damage caused by our neighbor's washer hose coming undone. The estimater, Bob Smith was wonderful; very kind and knowledgeable. Scott was very good, thoroughly looking over and confirming what needed to be done once before the work began and on the day of the work with his guys. He honored my request to use low voc paint (with very little odor.) The techs, Neil and Vario were wonderful and very thorough, Neil making the drywall repairs and Vario painting. For the two days they were here, they worked their butts off and answered any questions and kept us updated on everything and a day ahead for that matter. I am taking off two stars because of the poor communication with their office staff and the lapse in time to get everything fixed; it should not have taken a month-in-a-half to get this taken care of. We should not have been inconvenienced because the scheduler was out; they should have had someone else schedule us. Our insurance company and Service Masters were faster at getting everything reviewed and cleaned up (see my reviews.) I would never wish this on my worst enemy, but these are the guys to call if you need damage restoration. read more
