    One awesome flight (board)!

Wow! As a self proclaimed connoisseur of craft beer and experienced taproom traveler in Minnesota with 152 taprooms visited I like to think I know a thing or two about local craft brew and the word is WOW! This former barber shop turned brewery is tiny in size but full of character, live music (player but owner and brewmaster himself, John Mansfield), and unbelievably good brews. As you approach the taproom you will notice 2 larger picture windows on both sides of the front door, one proudly hanging the American flag as John is former military. Upon entering be prepared to promptly be greeted and take notice of the popcorn machine for your enjoyment with you beers. Ward House currently operates on a 1.5 barrel brewing system and cranks out 8 beers ranging from Kolsch to Cream Ale to IPA to Stout as well as beer combinations like my personal favorite, a mixture of the Cremebrulee Cream Ale and Blackrobe Chocolate Vanilla Stout appropriately named "Black and Brûlée." This beer is simply OUTSTANDING with strong notes of chocolate, cinnamon and toasted vanilla with a silky, full bodied mouth feel and clean finish. Every now and again you come across a hidden gem or a diamond in the rough so to speak. This small but lovable taproom is one of them. And please take note 1 barrel, 8 beers. This guy brews every freaking day or close to it. There is true passion here. While Ward House has been open for about 2 years, growing strong and ready to move into a bigger, more appropriate space with a 5 barrel system I would suggest trying to get in there soon to experience the roots of something amazing.

Friendly neighborhood brew house. Good selection of brews. Solid service. Added benefit, pepitos pizza in the back.

Good, cold beer! Many selections. Order your pizza from an app, but is easy. Will come back when in the area again.

He discussed his training and experience and it was rather amazing. We also happened to stop in on one of the Thursday evening that they had an "experimental" night where they showcased an experimental brew. One of my favorites so far was "Almond Joy"... where the beer tasted like an Almond Joy. It was awesome! This place is such a cute little place, quaint, and just such a cozy relaxing place to come, chill, and enjoy an amazing brew. Tracy is one of the owners and is such a nice person who is forever grateful to all patrons who stop by and support her business. Her personality and conversational attributes have made me spend many more hours in the Chapel than I ever would have imagined. Because of her and her amazing staff, they are the reason I return weekly, if not a couple times per week to support and enjoy!

I think I'm right, I mean, it's built in a little ole country CHURCH! Being Catholic, I figured what the heck (the Pope says we can boogie!). Turns out, this place is great! Good solid beers with a great selection. My wife had a nut brown that was really solid (I'm her taster) and I tried a couple of their IPA's. Both were as good as any I've had. The interior is tiny with only a few tables. They have an attached shaded deck and some garden tables out on a low maintenance garden style lawn so there is plenty of seating. The clientele seemed laid back and friendly. The bartender (or Pastor?) was knowledgeable and friendly. If you're in Dundas and in need of a hoppy blessing, give Chapel Brewing a try. You'll be a better person.

On this visit, I tried the strawberry cream ale and the hard selzer. Both were perfect for the warm day. The strawberry was just lightly sweet and very refreshing. Saturday i finally made the Half Pint stop, my 385th brewery....so i consider myself seasoned…read more... talking to brewers and owners is my JAM. I arrived a little before noon open, an empty truck was already parked so I headed in w the thought; maybe unlocked early? As I approached the set of double doors in front of the non-opening one was the cutest little gray cat...who as I approached got up to meow greet me... I talked back as I opened the door asking "are you going to come in w me?" When I saw a man inside say "she stays outside" so I entered. There was a fella on the corner of the bar that I started talking to about which beer he was drinking? As we talked and the beertender commented, I quickly realized he was the brewer and co-owner Mike. Perfect... just who I love to have behind the bar!! I was @ Half Pint for just over two hours....for which....i rarely stopped talking. As brewer/co-ownet Mike was slanging....and without a wince my whole visit he endured my yammering about beer & brewing!! Mike is not nice, not even lovely. He is...downright....DELIGHTFUL!!! He effortlessly....climbed my Top Owner.... Brewer Ranks!! He was so kind and knowledgeable! Shortly after I arrived a group of four guys, regulars came in...said they were bachelor party brewery hopping. Mike immediately rattled off four breweries they could head to in the area. How knowledgeable and kind! Party Captain Dave had a pint of the Cerveza and couldn't stop raving about it. Mike and I had built a four pour flight to which when I finished I was trying to decide on a pint.... despite Dave's raving I kept shrugging it off as I thought: mehhh I've had plenty of lagers... it's likely not anything special. Shame on me! I cant put my palate on it....but ....just something about Mike's Cerveza was so.....refreshing! It was a solid choice for my only pint. I appreciated as we discussed my next beer.... he asked: any you had to choke down? I replied w a hearty no, they were all delicious, even the two IPA's as that's not a style I particularly care for. We also discussed the tap beer he brews but doesn't even like. Again, i appreciate his honesty. Without a doubt.... already looking FORWARD to my next Saturday stop.... after a grad party in town! If you havent already been.... i HIGHLY recommend Half Pint Brewing! They also have a little popcorn machine when you come in, aww thanks. They're starting bingo one night a week, Pleasant Grove Pizza Farm can be delivered on certain days. The brewery has a county agreement that there will only be five live music performances a year so if you see one advertised and think: ahh I'll catch them the next time? No, no you won't, go on and make plans to attend. Two hours wasn't even long enough for my visit. I wanted to stay but... I wanted to try another brewery and I still had the back to the city drive to make so I cut myself off. Besides by the time I left the place was pretty busy so. For nine beers on tap; I tasted my way through six of them. All lower ABV's, thanks for that! My flight was 1 Pa's Vanilla Bean Porter, 5 Krushin Chovy's Hazy, 6 Norway IPA, & 7 Strawberry Cream Ale. I asked for a taste of the Dusseldorf Alt as that's a style I tend to like & Mike said he didn't like t. We were in agreement that the initial taste was... but the back end hit better. Then I had the pint of 8 Cerveza w Lime. Mike talked about Hannah's Honey & showed me the honey bottles they had for sale. You may have to take gravel roads to get to Half Pint but off the beaten track is well worth the drive....for the delicious beers, the fantabulous hospitality and the townfolk comradery!! Thanks and cheers Half Pint & Mike for making my inaugural stop so fun and memorable!

I arrived to a full patio and a few patrons inside @ tables so I was fortunate enough to snag my preferred bar stool so I could chat up the beertender. I had a can of Shut Up Kevin gifted to me a couple years ago and was told it was in reference to the brewer. As we rambled on about beers and styles, together we built my flight. Everything was wonderful and delicious! Angry Hog hits all the marks!! Delicious beer, comfortable and spacious tap room, great patio, easy parking and one rad brewer/owner who is a delight! This brewery was nowhere near me, it was a destination and totally worth the trip! I knew it was good when I headed to my other Austin destination, no parking to be found.
