On driving up to Chapel Brewing, my forest reaction was, 'this looks like something out of a Steven King Novel". My wife's reaction, "ooh! How quaint and cute is this!?" I think I'm right, I mean, it's built in a little ole country CHURCH! Being Catholic, I figured what the heck (the Pope says we can boogie!). Turns out, this place is great! Good solid beers with a great selection. My wife had a nut brown that was really solid (I'm her taster) and I tried a couple of their IPA's. Both were as good as any I've had. The interior is tiny with only a few tables. They have an attached shaded deck and some garden tables out on a low maintenance garden style lawn so there is plenty of seating. The clientele seemed laid back and friendly. The bartender (or Pastor?) was knowledgeable and friendly. If you're in Dundas and in need of a hoppy blessing, give Chapel Brewing a try. We have been coming to Chapel for about 6 months now consistently. We first stopped in on a whim and were greeted by the brew master himself. He discussed his training and experience and it was rather amazing. We also happened to stop in on one of the Thursday evening that they had an "experimental" night where they showcased an experimental brew. One of my favorites so far was "Almond Joy"... where the beer tasted like an Almond Joy. It was awesome! This place is such a cute little place, quaint, and just such a cozy relaxing place to come, chill, and enjoy an amazing brew. Tracy is one of the owners and is such a nice person who is forever grateful to all patrons who stop by and support her business. Her personality and conversational attributes have made me spend many more hours in the Chapel than I ever would have imagined. We decided to day trip from Minneapolis to Northfield and after a full day of adventuring, coffee, antiquing, hiking, and eating we decided to swing by this brewery to end the evening. The chapel was small and charming, the bartender was friendly, and the outdoor seating in a wooded area by the water was peaceful. The brews went down smooth and the conversation was good. As we were departing, a bluegrass band was setting up on their outdoor deck. Easy residential street parking. read more

Stopped in for the third time ever yesterday. Every visit has had a different fellow slanging beer, everyone just as the lovely as the other! My second time in a few months ago ended up being brewer Dave behind the bar. We had great discussions about beers and breweries as I told him I was headed to neighboring Northfield breweries. He gave me the story how he came to be their brewer. It's a smaller tap room but that's what gives it that humble appeal. I was the only one that stayed inside....to chat up owner Steve. Everyone else took advantage of the shaded deck for drinking. I started out w Dukes Pils for the hot day. Once I saw Mango Sour I decided I should have one more before I left. First sip? Slapped he bar in a "that's it" fashion!!! I told Steve to let Dave know "this is the BEST mango sour I've ever had!!" There is only a few parking spots in the gravel lot, but plenty of room to park on the street! What a cute and quaint brewery!! Cheers! We visited this brewery after a 5K race. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We loved the option to sit inside or outside and the tunes playing were epic! In addition to a variety of beers and seltzer's they also offer snack items like nuts and cheese curds. Outside there was a food vendor offering warm food options. I'm not a big beer person but I loved the root beer hard seltzer!! Sooooo good! Drinking this just brought me back to childhood as root beer was my favorite soda. I had some flavored pretzels along with my hard seltzer. I was satisfied. I recommend checking this place out! We happened upon Chapel Brewing by accident...sort of. It's hard to say us finding a brewery is ever really an accident. However, we were not expecting to find one in the area. The spot is pretty small in terms of seating (there's much more when it's warm and you can sit outside where they had jazz playing once and an acoustic duo another time I was there. I also like that they have half alc drinks. Not necessarily a full beer but half lemonade and half beer. I'm a short person and it's nice to have that option in case I'm driving or something. We first heard of Chapel Brewing when we signed up for the MN Brewery Running series last year. They were one of the featured breweries giving out tastings at the sign up event. I was really impressed with the quality of their beer given how new their brewery was. Sadly we missed their run, but we signed up again this year. On our way back on a road trip, this happened to be on the way. We decided to stop in. To start the space itself is really interesting. It is literally an old chapel (that has also been many other things, and it is worth reading up about). The space is small and the parking lot is even smaller. That being said they have a patio space that overlooks a the Canon river. Gorgeous! The vibe is small town friendly and welcoming. The bar tender talked to us about beer he likes, and recommended a few other breweries in the area. I guess there is a bike trail or something that links them all. So much fun to see community spirit like that. Now on to the important stuff. The beer. I generally rate a brewery on one of two things. Either they make classic styles but do it really well, or they swing for the fences with big flavors. This is a classic styles place. They do it very well though. Their stout is a standout to me. I love a good stout in the colder weather. Their stout has everything you want; rich chocolate/coffee flavor, slightly bitter, big mouth feel, and just enough alcohol to give you some warmth. I wish they were closer because I would have their beer more often. This is totally worth visiting if you are in the area. 13/100 read more

Started my Sunday at a brewery in Lakeville that wouldn't fill my growler. I called Chapel and they will fill, but not exchange a growler. It was 22 miles away and decent driving weather. I was only customer for about an hour. Beertender Haven was so nice and engaging. Ordered Kolasch, Blonde Ale and Brown Ale flights. I enjoyed Kolasch and bought a growler. Blonde Ale was also good. Oatmeal Stout and Brown Ale samples were ok. They just brewed Imperial Stout and wow, I was not expecting to like this one. Smooth body, dark beer with good finish and not hoppy or bitter. Was almost going to get a growler but these are $35.00. They will be bottling Imperial Stout and sending to liquor stores for distribution. Ambiance: very cozy and small. Bathrooms: 2 unisex bathrooms were very clean. Service: Very attentive as was only one there. Location: In Dundas. Small town by Northfield and Fairbault. Outdoor patio overlooks a river and mill park. Would be better enjoyed in spring, summer or fall. Dogs allowed on patio. They have trivia night and board games and a tv. Kids are allowed. I hope they have a good marketing plan and promos to attract business and be profitable. Will definitely recommend to stop by if you are in Dundas or Northfield area. read more

This place was really cool. We went all the way to Dundas for an event that was cancelled. I bought a Groupon for Castle due to being in the area. I got a flight of four. Some breweries don't even have four beers that don't include an IPA but my samples were very good. I was able to bring home two crowlers that I hope to have soon. It was such a cool small place that actually was a chapel before. We plan on going back in warmer weather as there are bike trails in the area. read more

Wow! Totally innocuous tiny building near the Cannon River & bike route, it delivers a great punch! We bought the Groupon for this brewery since we were going to be in the area. Fantastic deal: Flight of four (all were good), a Chapel Brewing glass, and a couple of crawler cans. Even better was the total experience itself: friendly service, friendly clientele, scenic area, great tunes, a warm spot to enjoy some cool brews & a good kombucha (for a very reasonable price)! I've drank in a lot of unusual spots but never in a chapel, until now. The building is very cool, and while it was never a church it was a place where people would get together and worship. The windows and wood floors remind me of exactly that. The space is fairly small and cozy. They have a few parking spots by the building and road parking is allowed. There is also a public lot on the other side of the river where I parked. Check their website for details. The beer was good. I had a Black IPA and a Belgian Blonde on my visit. The Belgian was my favorite, very well done. Looking forward to my next visit down to the taproom! read more

Looking for a unique, comfortable, quiet, fun, place to relax and enjoy some very very good craft beer this is it! If your lucky they will still have some Imperial Stout to offer you. My wife and I have been here a couple of times and enjoyed each visit. And yes it's kid friendly. There isn't any food available but in the summer you may have a food truck parked outside. Stumbled onto this place on a Monday night while driving from Omaha to Duluth and there were no other breweries open between Ames and the twin cities. Its just a few miles off the interstate and super simple to find. The taproom is an old chapel, hence the name, and t he brewery is in a garage next to it. The bartender was very friendly and let sample anything I wanted to try. I had an ipa and a stout but they were just okay. It was worth the stop but I probably wont go back. read more

A train was blocking the tracks on our way south out of Northfield so we took a detour through Dundas. Thank you train! We saw a little building on a bend in the street, nestled in some woods, right on the river. There were people sitting on an outdoor deck and others seated at tables down near the river. We decided to check it out. FANTASTIC local beer. Lots of choices. Great prices. No real food. The pretzels on sale are full of non-pretzel ingredients, avoid. The curds we got were very fresh and also local. Outside food is allowed and encouraged. This is a great, friendly, easy spot with excellent beer. read more

There's nothing not to love about this place! Wonderfully friendly proprietors, sunny patio, great beer (especially the imperial honey sour- beware the abv).
