If you're looking for a little cafe to work from that prides themselves in their dairy. Look no further. I got the broccoli cheddar and it is SO cheesy. I had to stop a little earlier (not their fault I'm just not used to broccoli cheddar soup with actual cheese!! And I'm a lil lactose intolerant. They do have dairy free milk like almond milk. A swell little cafe about 30 mile southeast of the Twin Cities, located in the quaint downtown of Cannon Falls just a mile from Highway 52. We stopped in route between St. Paul and Dubuque for a mid-morning caffeine fix. I love finding espresso machines in rural America! The double shot was smooth and it did what I needed it to do. The ladies behind the counter at CannonBelles were the epitome of small town hospitality; welcoming, chatty and gosh darnit they even put a little cow sticker on my cup. The coffee and ice cream are very pleasant, but the true highlight for me is the grilled cheese sandwiches made with their own crafted cheese. Literally the best I have ever had. Even the tomato soup was exceptionally gourmet. Cannon Belle's ingredients are fresh and local, and you can definitely tell. Adorable local place from the outside. I love to support local coffee houses so I stopped in. Inside I found a more serious (in a good way) - meaning efficient and recognizing what customers would want and find important. They know their location! It isn't just local coffee. And I don't mean, they happen to brew...they have their own brew. They sell their own beans so you can bring them home and grind it yourself for equal freshness. They also make their own ice cream AND cheese! And offer products with cows on them. The chai was available dirty ... mixed with espresso... and spicy. A taste of original chai from Asia not Minnesota. But it was also available as "chai" which would be what most Minnesotans probably are used to. They span the spectrum of taste pretty seamlessly. If you aren't sure what you like, just ask the incredibly helpful staff! I went in for a single cup of simple coffee and left with a spicy dirty chai, a handmade scrub and a baseball style shirt...and plans to return! read more

I've seen Cannonbells sign on highway 52 and made note. It is 1/2 mile off highway 19. Located in downtown Cannon Falls. I had to park around the corner as parking was full. I finally got to go here yesterday afternoon. I know one of the owners and it's so exciting to know they have a venue to showcase their delectable treats. We came specifically for the ice cream and got some cheese to go, too. I look forward to getting a coffee in the near future. I didn't count how many, but they had multiple ice cream flavors to choose from. I selected the candy bar flavor, one scoop on a cake cone. It was a very generous portion and I loved the candy nougat in my ice cream. I even got to sample my husby's Mackinac Island Fudge - also very tasty! The shop has a great little sofa and seats, and cool coffee table (made with coffee beans visible through the clear lacquer) right inside the entrance. There are other tables scattered throughout and repurposed church pews for seating. And even a window bar seating on the other side of the entrance. With our cheese to go, we enjoyed jalapeño cheese curds on our burgers for dinner! Yum! We will be back. ----stopped here in mid Sept for coffee in the AM then went grape picking at the winery,only to return for dessert after. Stopped into this cute little place after watching my nephew play football. There is something so quaint and charming about downtown Cannon Falls. Out of curiosity, I checked out the ice cream. Nothing homemade but still, a nice place to grab a cone I'm sure.. they had a variety of cheeses, fresh eggs, and some really wonderful looking beef sticks. They also had a nice selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches and soups. I was after coffee so that's what I got. I got a breve with sugar-free flavors and it was delicious! Pricing was a little bit cheaper than Starbucks. The pricing on the beef sticks and the food is significantly cheaper than in the twin city area.. The girls working could have been a little bit more friendly but not bad enough where I need to drop a star. I will definitely be back and next time I am getting some beef sticks, cheese, and a coffee!!! read more

Great ice cream. So-so coffee. Nice atmosphere. Always clean and I appreciate the changing table in the bathroom for my kiddo. Employees should learn their menu. I asked about an item on the food menu and both of them looked at me as if I were making something up. I had to point it out to them and even then they had no idea why the item was written there or if they had any in stock. It wasn't a big deal, except the employees were obviously embarrassed they didn't know what snacks were listed on the menu and kept apologizing. I just said, "It's okay. I'm just going off YOUR menu" several times. The fact that they kept mentioning it DID make it weird. But, otherwise, like I said: GREAT ice cream. read more
