Did you know cheese curds squeak? They do when they are fresher than fresh and this is the mother ship of freshness. The facility had a large parking lot out front for plenty of parking. The establishment entrance is without steps, and very cozy. They offer wine, chocolate, ice cream, snacks, trinkets and CHEESE! Today we picked up cheese curdsade and was given a great tip; DO NOT put them in the fridge for two days. When you do need to put them in th fridge when you are ready to eat let them sit out for an hour but if you can't wait put them in the microwave for a minute to warm them up for the squeak. Staff was super friendly, prices were completely reasonable and products top notch. Definitely a must see if your in the area. Package fresh and ready for sale. read more

This was my first visit to Cady's. This is a wonderful place for locally produced cheese. There was plenty to sample and the woman behind the counter was so incredibly nice and accommodating. Among the samples was Colby that had been made that morning. Sold! They also carry cheese products and sausages from around the area. All you need to do is buy the fresh cheese curds. Trust me on this one. It's the best I have ever had in my life. If you like smokiness, I highly recommend adding that flavor to it. The cheese squeaks on your teeth like you've never experienced before, due to how freshly made it is. It's like the cheese was talking to me through some secret language. Growing up this spot was close to home and took it for granted. Now being older and having moved away, this is the spot to stop when visiting home. They not only have a gift shop if you need to bring a piece of Wisconsin back with you but they make cheese daily! My favorite is the fresh curds or getting a slice of the Colby. I went to two cheese factories while driving through WI and this was by far the better of the two. It's more spacious so even though it had a similar amount of customers it didn't feel as congested and there was more staff to attend to people. We did a cheese tasting and I ended taking home everything we tasted. LOVED the cheese curds, and also got a cranberry jalapeño cheese and rosemary Gouda. Super tasty. Very friendly service, wide array of cheeses, and good selection of other products. They also sell cooler bags and ice packs so you can take it a ways. This stop is worth it if you're road tripping (or even are just a local who wants cheese). read more

I was driving through Wisconsin on a cross country trip when I saw the sign on the highway for Cady cheese factory so I decided to take a break and visit their shop and I'm so glad I did! I have never had cheese curds before. The ladies in the shop or so friendly and explained cheese curds to me. They were fresh made that morning! I was really surprised how long they lasted on my trip without refrigeration, though I did put them in the fridge each day at the hotel. I was bringing them to my friends in Montana. About five days into the trip I arrived to Montana and friends traveled with me to Yellowstone. They never had curds before I heated some in the microwave to demonstrate the melty squeaky experience. Brought the bag with us, Snacking on them, they ate the whole bag while I was in the gift shop. my one friend said the cheese curds were so delicious. She ate them cold right out of the bag! Now I'm driving back and I'll have to go out of my route to find some cheese curds to bring home. But nothing will compare to the fresh made curds at this place I'm sure! Thank you again! read more

I've grown up coming here for cheese curds and they are some of the best. They are fresh, the squeakiest and the most tasty cheese curds I've ever had (coming from a cheese lover). Growing up I remember coming here and eating samples and watching them make cheese curds. I came here during Covid so there weren't doing samples and I didn't ask about touring their facilities. But the cheese curds taste as good as I remember them. It's a great quick stop just for some quality cheese curds. I was hoping for a little bit more variety in flavors, but there were still some great selections. We for sure got the cheese curds and string cheese which are both excellent! Also grabbed some garlic and chive jack cheese, some mustard, apple butter, and cheddar gruyere that we haven't tried yet. Cute little spot a few miles off from the interstate, which gives you a good feel for Wisconsin diary country. The shop is fairly small and compact, and they should provide more samples. However, they will give you samples of anything you ask for. We tried the cheese curds, pepper jack, Colby jack, 3 gold pepper, rosemary Gouda, and smoked Gouda. The Goudas were a bit underwhelming - too mild. Not enough smoke on the smoked one. Perhaps they cater to more mild and/or subtler palates, as I'm used to and prefer strong, smelly, and moldy French cheeses. Anyway, our favorites were the cheese curds which are nice and salty, and yes! They squeak when you chew them! And the 3 gold pepper. They also offer a variety of other items for sale such as coffee, ice cream, and little gifts/souvenirs. There's plenty of parking out front. read more

Here I sit in Menomonee wait for a few more minutes to head to Cady Cheese. I have lived in Wisconsin most of my life 43 of 53 year till I had to move to illinois(insert boo and hissing noises) for work. Other wise I lived in Polk county the rest of the time and grew up on a dairy farm. I have been going to Cady scince I was a very small child we use to go pick Apple's at Connorsville. There is NOTHING better than the fresh cheese curds here. Yes they run out occasionally b4 the end of the day. I've called from the road knowing I was coming by late in day and they put some aside for me. LOVE IT. I have traveled the US from coast to coast and NEVER have had better cheese ANYWHERE! My second favorite thing here is the Colby it is SO freaking good. As for costomer service...well some times it can be a little meh. But some of their people work a long day. Plus treat them well and they always will do the same. Come in with a attitude and you might get on back...so basically don't be a FIB.( F:=÷!,;=G Illinois Bastard) and smile! Cady Cheese has run away with my cheesy heart. It's true. My family has been stopping at Cady for years on our many jaunts between Milwaukee and the Twin Cities. We actually schedule our routes to make sure we'll go through when they're open. If you're under the impression that you've had Wisconsin cheese simply because something says it's from WI on the label or (god forbid!) it's shaped like the state of WI or a cow, you are wrong. If you are under the impression you've had cheese curds, because you ordered some deep fried in a bar once, you are severely wrong. You need to have chees that is wet and squeaky. I know that sounds weird, but it's not. If it wasn't made in the last 48 hours, it's just not the same. Cady Cheese has cheeses by the cheesy handful. When you walk in there's a case of pre-packaged chunks, as well as some ends and pieces. The ends and pieces are a great way to jump in on some wacky flavor. But, if you want the really really good stuff, walk to either side of the counter and wait your turn. When it's your turn, ask any and every question you like. They will most likely give you a sample of everything you show a mild interest in, but if they don't, just ask. The only reason they might not is if it's not something they do fresh cuts of. Once you've decided if you'd rather have aged cheddar or baby swiss or Colby made yesterday (my favorite), tell them some weight, they'll lop off a hunk and wrap it up for you. Is it the cheapest cheese on the planet? No. Is it the best? Possibly. Don't forget to get a bag of curds...they will be squeaky and you will love them. They sell other things in the store, but I go for the cheese. Take the time to stop if you're driving through, you're cheesebuds will thank you. read more

This place rocks. It is filled with cheese, how could it not. It's also filled with a bunch of kitschy shit like porcelain wedding anniversary bells and themed mini license plates which is strange yet highly entertaining. We stopped in on a Sunday and Cady's was pretty jumpin'. The woman that helped feed us ridiculous amounts of free samples was really sweet and focused her attention on just us for at least 10 minutes while we made our choices: 5, 8, 11 year cheddars Colby Smoked Gouda Green Onion Garlic Jack Hot Pepper Holy cheese gods. The garlic and hot pepper are outstanding, the 11 year cheddar just crumbles into your mouth and the smoked gouda is fantastic. Do you like cheese? If you like cheese at all, you have to have to try cheese from Cady Cheese Factory. Cheese from Cady is like eating a frozen meal or a fresh meal. Ok maybe its not quite that extreme, but I think you get the point. I love cheese. Cheese is so flexible. You can add it endless meals. Our favorite cheese to get at Cady bar none is their colby. Its soo good. We also love the baby swiss, sharp cheddar and everyone loves cheese curds. Everything is fresh and those cheese curds squeek when you chew them. They also carry Parmesan and endless options of jack cheeses. We always get a couple of pounds of their colby, some sharp cheddar, cheese curds and then a few others to try. On our way home we eat a few slices of the colby and some cheese curds. I think their prices are very reasonable compared to cheese costs in the grocery store. The other factor and it really doesn't matter in our house because we will eat it all, their fresh cheese seems to last longer and stay fresher than store bought cheese. Although when we come home with a bag of cheese for Cady, seems like we make more grilled cheese sandwiches during that time. We really love Cady and the ladies in the shop are always friendly. Cady is a short drive from the metro area but well worth it. There is also a great bison ranch just down the road so you could pick up some cheese and some bison on the same trip. This is the cheese factory of my Sconnie youth~ we used to come here at least twice a month to get our squeaky curds, our giant blocks of colby jack, and indulge in all sorts of dairy binging. They have every type of general cheese you could possibly want, with huge varieties of cheddar, swiss, and all the rest. They also have dill, bacon, and garlic cheese, along with many flavors of curds. And they let you try every one! The gift shoppe has always been very Sconnie, with Packers stuff, Cow Pies, and all the classic candies that you see in that kind of place. You can also find cutesy wind chimes and other doodads that would be welcome gifts for any WIsconsin housewife. Sometimes they come up trumps and have local made soaps and maybe the rogue beeswax candle... Definitely worth the drive. Make a day of it by stopping at Maple Leaf Orchard/Stockman's... trust me. We have been many times as there is nothing like fresh cheese curds. Salty, creamy, squeaky perfection. They employees are not overly friendly, but they are nice they will answer any questions you ask them. Perhaps they would sell more is they initiated the conversation, asking if you wanted to taste something and offering to explain how different cheese are made. It would feel less like a shopping trip and more like a tourist stop. That is how I recommend you take it. if you want the fun of all that go to one of the other dairies. If you want a place right off the freeway to get some great cheese go here. It is small, but you wont be spending a ton of time. If I could give Cady 6 stars, I totally would! We literally get ALL of our cheese from here. Once a month or so we make a little trip to Cady and stock up on Sharp Cheddar, Parmesan, Gorganzola, Baby Swiss and maybe a couple of the random varieties of Jack. The Onion-Garlic Jack, Cranberry-Chipotle Jack and BBQ Jack are a few of our favorites. (I know, I sound like a cheese glutton here... but seriously, think about how much cheese you buy for a whole month!) The cheese is extremely well-priced for the high quality and variety. If you're really looking for a bargain, check out the "ends and pieces" bin, which is basically the cheese at the end of a batch that doesn't come out in the perfect square or circle mold. Why buy cheese from the grocery store, when this amazing cheese factory is within driving distance?! If you're coming from the cities, make a day out of it and go down to Sailer's Meats in Elmwood - it's a beautiful drive and they have an excellent selection of meat from local farmers. Just a response to the negative reviews. I know they don't have a lot of samples out, but if you ask they gladly give you a sample. I stop in quite often and I get a sample when I buy something even if I don't ask for it. As for the ladies being crabby, I've never had that problem. They are always friendly and helpful. I'm not saying it isn't true, just that it isn't my experience. Maybe it was very busy when you were there? I know it can get hectic on Sundays. The cheese curds are excellent when they are available, and I also recommend the aged cheddar, especially the 3 and 4 year varieties. read more
