I went into Wantagh Mazda looking to purchase a new/used vehicle. My current car was 15 years old and having issues that made it immediately unreliable. David Peter Chiari at Wantagh Mazda spent the time to see what I was interested in and showed me the available cars. I loved the 2026 Mazda cx-50 hybrid. While looking on the lot David showed me a 2025 one. I loved it. The brand new 2025 was well within my budget even with the premium trim. Then I spoke to Philip Puleo the sales manager regarding pricing. Phil gave me the lowest out the door price within the first 5 minutes of talking to him. There was 0 back and forth, 0 games, 0 frustration. I did visit other dealerships in the area and what a mistake that was. I wasn't aware how lucky I was with how I was treated at Mazda. I ended up going back to Mazda, thanked both David and Peter endlessly and walked out with my beautiful new car. If I could rate them 10 stars I would. It is rare I leave reviews. I wish I had a better experience, like the many reviews I have read. I walked in and was greeted right away, can't even remember his name and not that I want to remember. I was asked what car I was looking for, gentleman walked to the board looked and said he didn't have any. I asked if he had any in transit as stated on their website. It seemed as if he didn't care to help. When he walked back the first thing he mentioned was the interest at 0% for 36 months, "that many people can't do anyways."Did you sit down with me? Do you know what I do? Or do you have your own biases seeing two hispanic females? I replied I know, and 2.9% for 60 months, and 3.9% for 72 months, I don't think he expected me to know that. Just when I thought kindness and honesty didn't exist in the world of auto sales, I stumbled upon Wantagh Mazda. From the moment my husband and I walked through the doors of Wantagh Mazda we knew we were in the right place. Even with the craziness of Black Friday, were met with warm smiles and immediately handed the keys to test drive the vehicle we were interested in. They didn't press us over finances first to see if they were wasting their time, they just treated us like friends and family who were looking for a new car. When we returned from our test drive we sat down with Victor, Phil, and Kenny. They were funny, kind, friendly, and most importantly, they were transparent and honest. They wrote down all of the fees and were extremely open with us from the very start. There were no surprises, just black and white numbers. I can't say enough how refreshing that was. After reviewing the practical information, we knew we could likely get a little bit more for my trade by selling privately and perhaps save a little bit more on the payments if we went to a 'larger dealer', but that for us was not even an option. We were so happy with every aspect of our experience at Wantagh Mazda that we couldn't even conceive of going anywhere else. Well I wish I could give this place another 5 star review but unfortunately I can't after my last experience on 2/24/18, I went in looking to trade my car in early like last time and I was there a few minutes before opening and there was a sales meeting going on where all the salesman and manager were havin breakfast, as I walked in they greeted me but continued their meeting and enjoyed their breakfast, I had to sit and wait for a good 10 to 15 minutes before anybody paid me any attention, after hearing all their "sales" tactics to make it a "banner" day I walked out feeling extremely disappointed! The monthly payment was considerably more than I pay now for a new a Mazda 6 and they were not willing to budge to accommodate me like last time, I immediately went to Garden City Mazda and was delivered a 2017.5 Mazda 6 touring the very same day @ a price I was comfortable with! Truly a shame that Wantagh Mazda couldn't come through this time but maybe next time around they will work on their bedside manners and make a deal with me that would make me a returning customer. Last time they made me feel like family, now I feel like an in law or the Uncle! Straight up, I hate buying cars! I hate having to put all this time and research into such a major purchase because I'm the type that spends hours upon hours of looking up as much information as possible when I could be doing much better things with my time. Time is valuable - Wantagh Mazda and Joe Bonavita know this that's why I walked in a little after 9am and was driving home around 10:30am with all the papers signed - a great deal in hand. I wouldn't even be here if It wasn't for my 2013 Ford CMax taking a right hook to the chin and getting all its teeth knocked out. The unfortunate event allowed me to focus my attention to my original crush, the CX-5. Back in 2012 when I bought a car she was the hot new girl with many people vying for her with very little availability. Now, although still highly popular a little more accessible, while looking hotter than ever. Zoom Zoom indeed! Mazda is the third most reliable car brand (behind Toyota and their upscale Lexus brand) according to Consumer Reports. Mazda is practically an affordable boutique brand (if a thing can exist), with TOTAL U.S. sales of around 305,801 in 2014. (For comparison Ford sold 306,212 Escapes in the U.S. that year - only one of their models). I like their small volume - I believe that's what helps them focus on quality and reliability. I also like that the CX5 is so highly, universally praised, yet not commonly found (like the ubiquitous Honda CRV). There was no hard sell, ho hidden tricks or costs - In fact Joe Bonavita came up with ways to actually make me pay LESS than I was expecting. If I wanted a particular color with the same build and they didn't have it in stock there was no "in stock" requirement to get the same price. Don't just take my word for it about this dealership. There are other reviewing sites specifically geared towards car dealerships out there, but I am reviewing here because I am a Yelp guy. Have had 2 excellent experiences here with leasing new cars, and I can confidently recommend Wantagh Mazda as an easy, accommodating, bullshit-free car dealership to go to on LI. First, I need to highly, highly recommend David Chiari in sales--he's a super friendly, easygoing guy who will not pressure you, bait and switch you, or try to persuade you into anything you don't want. I say this after working with him to get 2 new cars, both a 2016 Mazda3 and a 2020 CX5. David was great to work with both times, never trying to use any high-pressure crap or "it won't be here for long" nonsense you get from every other dealership around the LI car strips. He was accommodating and made sure I was happy with what I was getting before even getting into numbers. I will openly admit I am not the easiest customer to work with, because I am extremely specific about the build/features/colors I want. David was very good-natured about giving me the little things I wanted, like installing fog lights after the fact and getting the exact color/package brought into the lot for me. He's also great about test drives--took a copy of my license, and told me to "take my time" to make sure I was happy with it--none of the "I'll need to go with you" or "fill out this paperwork" stupidity I've had at Honda, Subaru, and Toyota dealers in the area. To top it off, when I had concerns about fitting my bike in the hatch, he said "well, you could always drive it home and check it out yourself if you want," but as a fellow cyclist said it would almost certainly fit within the back. As far as price negotiations go, I think Wantagh Mazda is extremely fair. Obviously you have more leverage when buying, but David was willing to accommodate a few knocks down on his initial lease offer, and ultimately all that matters is I'm happy with the number I got (the guy has to make some profit, and really it's all about moving the car for him, anyhow). You'll always get a better deal on last year's model or the current one near year end. He was happy to add on all the promo offers I qualified for and found on the Mazda corporate site. David was also great about returning my emails and phone calls, and made buying a new car in the midst of a pandemic seamless. He was fine with doing all the paperwork and handoff outside, and never once needed me to sit inside the dealership endlessly. Additionally, I only had a brief exchange with the Manager, but he was extremely friendly, and urged me to contact him personally if I had any issues or concerns with the new car whatsoever. For Service, I can only speak to my one time (so far) going there to fix a windshield and mirrors that had some bubbles/distortions in them from the factory--I wouldn't say anything blew me away, but they have decent hours and managed to fix all my issues in a reasonable amount of time. They're respectful and they got the service done. On a car level, I'm a huge Mazda fan, and a main reason I've been converted is because of this dealership. If you're looking for a Mazda and you're anywhere in the area, I would wholeheartedly recommend Wantagh Mazda, and especially working with David Chiari. 5+ stars read more

This is was the first dealership that my mom and I went into that we weren't greeted as soon as we walked in. The showroom honestly didn't look as nice as some other dealerships that we had been at prior. We looked around at 2 cars and walked all the way through the showroom to the bathrooms(near the service station) and no one even noticed us. When we walked back we passed someone's desk and he said that someone else was the only one there and we could look around or just wait. That guy just sat there eating. We thought to ourselves "What about you? What are you doing?" Seemed strange. We took another look at the M3 and my mom decided that it was too big. So, we just walked out someone realizing. I just got my 3rd AWD 2018 CX-5 Touring two weeks ago - this is our 6th car, including other cars that we had - so in a way, I just wanna mention that we have had experiences with other dealerships as well. First time we went to Wantagh Mazda was in Year 2012 .. and we just kept going back .. They became part of our family now. =) Kenny Davis was the one who helped us out from the start dated back in 2012. Everyone was so nice and they were there to help. Loved my CX5 just hated this dealer. my previous car was a Hyundai and the service department there was a thousand times better than Wantagh Mazda. With every service you get a comfortable waiting area, coffee and bagels, here nothing. Hyundai washes you car after each service here never and believe me I asked. Each time I had service I dropped the car off the night before. Final straw was my daytime running light. They fixed it on recall but the fix didn't last leaving me with a $1500 repair bill. They didn't even offer any assistance. My advice if you want a Mazda find a better dealer one that cares about its customers. I couldn't see dumping $1500 for a light repair so I traded the car in for a new vehicle. Will I miss my CX5 yes will I miss Wantagh Mazda absolutely not. Good riddance. Visited Mazda recently to purchase a new vehicle. This supposedly "family-owned" dealership certainly doesn't treat you like family. Due to the car shortage, the absolute best deal that they offered was $1,000 over MSRP. I refused to pay anything over MSRP, and you should too!. I'm happy to see that other automakers (Ford,GM) are not tolerating this price gouging. Hopefully Mazda corporation will not either. Please don't waste your time going to this dealership. read more

My mother-in-law was driving a 15 year old car with 175K miles on it and decided to get something newer before anything expensive happened to it. My wife and I offered to take her around to some dealerships to look at different cars, and we settled on the Mazda CX-3. She loved how it drove and we were glad she'd have some of the newer safety features (blind spot monitoring, heated mirrors, etc). After that, it was a matter of looking around on the internet for a nearby dealer that had a low-mileage CPO on the lot. Wantagh Mazda had one that looked promising, and I contacted the dealership to see if we could work something out. Josh responded immediately and scheduled a test drive - my mother-in-law loved the car, and Josh and I quickly worked out the details over email. I am so grateful that he was even able to take her car as a trade in and agree to a price that she could work with as she's on a fixed income. It couldn't have been easier. Pickup could not have gone more smoothly either. We were in and out in about an hour or less. Old car gone, new car home. They are very apologetic but despite their apologies my car is unusable. I was scheduled for service on my 2016 cx5 today and now my appointment has been cancelled with no reschedule available for weeks. My electronic parking brake has malfunctioned and this means that the car sits in my driveway and has been for 10 days at this point. Mazda of Wantagh did nothing to offer to help us other than tell us to go call other service centers. At least find us another appointment somewhere else as a courtesy. We've purchased three cars from this dealership. We won't be purchasing any others. read more
