Jason sat us and asked if it's our first time. When we said it was he asked us what kind of food we like. We both said MEAT! He said that the hamburger is fresh ground when you order your burger. How fresh is that? They would cook it anyway we want, even rare if we wanted. The onion rings are hand dipped in beer batter and the fries are soaked in brine. I ordered the Sunrise Burger. It has crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, topped with a fried egg with runny yoke. I needed extra napkins. It was delicious. Can't remember the last time I had such a good burger. Or onion rings. Monday is buy-one-get-one-free burger night at the Wagon Wheel, and on this Monday night we joined a group of friends for the super deal on some pretty good burgers. A small caveat--there are a few unwritten rules to the WW's BOGO burger party: 1. There are no to-go orders allowed on the BOGO burger offer. All burger eaters must be present to participate, no doggie bags, no exceptions. 2. In parties of 6 or more, the entire table has to agree on a single temperature for all burgers ordered at the table (no variations between rare, medium rare, medium, medium well and well--so only bring your palate soul mates). As for the burgers, they are pretty decent, and generously portioned (but not huge). I had the black and bleu burger and, although it was tasty, it was slightly more dry than I would have preferred (probably thanks to the one-size-fits-all table order), and I needed to add a little A1 to make my burger more enjoyable. Also, the bacon was way over done, but I can look the other way on that one--everyone overcooks some bacon now and then. Regarding the sides, I would definitely push you towards the onions rings if a large portion size is important to you (the orders of fries, sweet potato fries and waffle fries served at our table were noticeably smaller than the onion ring orders). My regular fries were pretty pedestrian, but not bad by any means. I would go back to the Wagon Wheel, which is a typical Michigan roadside bar/dining facility, and like most, probably in need of some updating. However, next time, I might opt for the prime rib sandwich ... and the onion rings, please. read more

The kids had a great time coloring while we waited for Santa to arrive... had great food... and the best atmosphere! We got some amazing pictures with Santa who was so patient and kind to both of the kids! The staff and owners thought of so many extras to make the whole experience so festive and special for every child there giving out cupcakes and goodie bags! Was working in West Branch today and always like to try the local stops. Found WWI on yelp and felt like a burger. Pulled up and its your average bar. It's sorta off the main road but worth the hunt to find it. Burger was great and fresh. Not over seasoned and cooked just how I wanted. Waited on by the owner since this time of years slower in WB. Really passionate about what he serves and how his business is perceived by his patrons. Take the time to stop by and get a burger. Took a long time to get all of our fried bar food. Not really what we were looking for. The kid friendly rating should be removed for sure, lots of signs in the bar kids don't need to be reading, no kids menu either. I would highly recommend families especially go elsewhere. We won't be returning, definitely not worth driving out of your way for. Atmosphere is typical dive bar. An important part of a burger and often overlooked is the bun. It can make or break the burger. This one was perfect. Slightly toasted and just the right size. If you are looking for fresh food this is the place to go. I had a delicious half pound Swiss burger and the taste was without a doubt the best in the area. My sweets had the perch dinner which was likely breaded and just as tasty! Our bartender was super nice and sporting a very cute haircut! Speaking with the wagon wheel owner was great and you can easily tell he has pride in what he has to offer. All in all a great find and something we had been looking for but hadn't found until today! My husband and I decided to have a burger and a beer and let me tell ya - we were not disappointed!! The burger was huge with some of the freshest meat I have ever had!! This is a small bar not far from town that my relatives took me to. The atmosphere is not much but the food and service were wonderful. They have dinner specials. This is a hidden gem! My boyfriend has a cottage in the area and his parents told us to try it...now I'm HOOKED, I can't pass through West Branch without stopping in for their wings and potato skins and sometimes even a burger. Their potato skins are made from scratch and baked in the OVEN, the wings get baked for part of it as well and have a majorly addictive dry rub on them, they're the best wings I've ever had...and the owner makes his burgers fresh in house and they're flavorful, juicy and deliiicious. Up north for the Memorial day weekend, and was not in the mood to cook another meal, so myself and 6 others headed to the wagon wheel for dinner. We had been here one time before about 4 years or so ago based on a recommendation from a friend. It did not disapoint then or now. We all ordered burgers except for on chicken bacon and ranch sandwich, there were no issues or complaints from anyone. I felt my burger could have been cooked a bit more, i had asked for medium and it was closer to rare-medium rare. We just enjoyed what I think may be the best hambugers we've ever eaten, and we found them at the Wagon Wheel -- a nondescript bar out in the countryside that I have driven past hundreds of times. We were looking for a good bar burger today, and based on reviews we decided to give this place a try. Wow. Who knew the owner was a foodie who carefully sources his beef, wet ages it in house, grinds/blends his burgers by hand and cooks them to order? Again I say: Wow. He seemed slighty hurt when, before we knew all of this, we asked for ketchup before we tucked in...now we understand. When we return -- and we will -- we will eschew condiments. The burgers, which are a chuck-brisket mix, melt in your mouth; they are juicy, beefy and delicious. You can order about a half dozen variations on the basic, including one with a grilled Pure Muchigan Koegel' s hot dog as a topper. Other favorites on the menu include weekend prime rib and fish fry, wings with house seasoning and stone- oven baked pizzas. The seasonal.beer menu includes several Michigan brews on tap. The bar itself is pretty minimalist, as one would expect from the exterior -- a small patio, a small pool room, a couple of dart boards, and that' s it. But don' t let that fool you. We were hungry after shopping for a few hours and wanted something to eat besides the mediocre chain restaurants near the outlet mall. We found the Wagon Wheel Inn on Yelp. Since it had good reviews and was only a couple miles from the outlets, we decide to try it out. It was outstanding. The cheese ball appetizers were creamy, slightly spicy, and delicious. The burgers were great - 1/2 lb patties ground fresh at the restaurant. Even better was the prime rib sandwich served with au jus. BEST SANDWICH we've had in years.
