Glad to see some stores able to survive in these empty malls. I always find good deals on new styles at Wannabe! Thank you

Most wonderful experience buying a beautiful lehnga and shirwani here. A very very large selection…read moreof high quality clothes at very good prices. We've tried shopping at multiple places by now: for the selection and quality that Akarshan offers, you will pay at least 2-3 times as much at other shops. We are very happy. We had their full, undivided attention the entire time, and they were extremely helpful in helping us find exactly what we were looking for. I tried on at least 6 suits, and they brought out so many more based on my requirements, before I finally settled on one. They were extremely kind and patient. I wish them all the best and we'll be back again in the future with all our friends!

Five stars is not enough stars…read more My wife and I walked into Akarshan Designs on San Mateo Ave in San Bruno needing outfits for our close friends' wedding and having absolutely no idea what we were doing. We knew we wanted to look incredible. We knew nothing else. Harminder took one look at us and said "I've got you," and she was not lying. She runs the shop while her father (the founder) is in India right now celebrating his 82nd birthday in Delhi, and she runs it with the kind of warmth and expertise that makes you feel like you wandered into a family's living room where everyone happens to be extraordinarily talented at dressing people. She pulled pieces we never would have found on our own, knew immediately what worked and what didn't, and was honest in a way that made the whole experience feel collaborative rather than transactional. My wife ended up in a lavender and silver lehenga that made her look like she'd been wearing lehengas her entire life. I ended up in a royal blue sherwani that I am now looking for excuses to wear again. Harminder styled both of us with real care, adjusting details until everything sat exactly right. The collection itself is stunning. They work directly with artisans across India and it shows in the quality and the range of what's on the racks. These are not mass-produced pieces you'll see on six other people at the reception. The embroidery on my wife's outfit alone is the kind of detail that stops people mid-conversation. If you are shopping for Indian formalwear in the Bay Area, go to Akarshan Designs, ask for Harminder, and let her work. You will leave looking better than you thought possible and feeling like you made a friend. We cannot recommend this place highly enough.

There are also very few plus size clothes for sale - not sure if they aren't donated much, or just go fast, but I rarely find anything good that will fit (I visit fairly often because my pharmacy is in this shopping center and I can't resist). They recently started a rewards program with your phone number and I signed up, but the guy didn't ask for it next time I was there (I just bought a picture frame) and when I asked about it before paying, told me it was too late. Lame. Donating: They have great hours and it's easy to pull in and donate. When I went yesterday though, they wouldn't take a (fairly large) ottoman I had to donate, saying they didn't have room. They do sell furniture but I guess had an over abundance and recommended I take it to the SF location instead. No bad smells and it's clean, so that's nice! And well lit. I am sure I will keep going since it's near my pharmacy but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Inside this location was a well lit establishment that promotes the buying atmosphere. The service was nice and friendly. The bargains were too many to list; but l did get some good finds in this location.
