Historically, WHS : A Great school in a Great community!…read more If there is any ring of truth to some of the criticisms on here on Yelp about WHS, hopefully the appropriate people in the appropriate positions of authority will investigate and remedy - or else, be replaced. It can't be easy being a teacher or administrator in these modern, challenging times, given all the horror stories of present day teens, and their lack of home 'schooling' /up-bringing / discipline/ child-rearing; nonetheless, if there is a community of folks who can perform a better job than most high schools in this nation, Walnut is such a community! What a great high school, though... in a terrific little city outside LA, within the San Gabriel Valley (with one of the lowest crime rates) - one of the top ranked public school districts in Southern California ("Best School Districts For Your Buck in Southern California"; see https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/cities/best-school-districts-southern-california-2015/). Surrounded by and populated with "[q]uality housing" consisting of nice, clean homes part of a master-planned single family housing community, and a median household income at one of the top-earning percentiles in the country at $101,250 according to available Census data, WHS is almost somewhat idyllic WHS is significant part of Primary Education in Walnut, which is served by the prestigious Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD), which, in turn, has been ranked by numerous sources to be one of the top public school districts in all of Southern California. In addition to Walnut and WHS, WVUSD also serves parts of the city of Diamond Bar. Schools located in and around Walnut include: C.J. Morris Elementary School Collegewood Elementary School Oswalt Academy (Formerly known as Oswalt Elementary School) (Rowland Unified School District) Vejar Elementary School Walnut Elementary School Westhoff Elementary School Suzanne Middle School Southlands Christian Schools South Pointe Middle School[46] Chaparral Middle School Ronald Hockwalt Academies (Formerly known as Del Paso High School)[47] Walnut High School Diamond Bar High School Portions of the western side of Walnut are also served by the Rowland Unified School District. The proof is in the puddin (as the saying goes); Graduates from WHS have gone on to continue their educations at the top levels of world recognized/ nationally ranked colleges and universities, and enjoyed careers across the spectrum of professions and occupations. Students (and their parents) should be grateful (and proud as well) of being part of the Mustang family!

So. My Review of LMS…read more I'm Now Attending DRHS, But I figured I would leave a quick post for some of the newbie's :) 1. Teachers. I wont name any names, however The Science Department, and the Math Department have some issues. 8th Grade Intro to Physical Science. Worst Teacher Ever. I had so many problems and The counselors couldn't help me out. Academically Speaking, She prepared me for High School Well. I am well Above my Class, With the Ability to Use and Recognize Chemistry Level material. The Math Department was OK. I felt "Blown Off" By some of the teachers, but again, I was prepared well for High School. The Administration was always extremely courteous, and helped me solve many of my problems that I faced while Attending. Counselors worked with me, and I enjoyed my Enrollment here. Library: Extremely Clean, Neat, and Nice place to relax! The Campus is outdoors, and if its hot, the Library is the Only escape! Nice Media Tech, and Nice Selection! Security: Extremely Friendly! Always felt Safe and Secure, and Security was NEVER an issue. Cafeteria: The cafeteria is Indoor, But is surrounded with chain link openings. There is No A/C. ***Note My remark about the library*** Gymnasium: Could receive some TLC. Needs A/C. Gets Really hot, and they have really big fans that they use, that dont really do anything. Features Basketball Courts, Volleyball Courts, and is also Really good for DodgeBall :) Portables: Typical. Athletic Fields: Football, Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Track. Thats About it. Track is dirt, and Gets muddy when wet, but belongs to Diamond Bar, not PUSD. Parking: READ THE WEBSITE! It clearly states that it is extremely busy. However i would recommend walking to nearby business and getting a ride there. Locker Rooms: Typical, Large lockers. Recent Upgrade :) Restrooms: located in the Gym, Upstairs, Downstairs, and in the Portables. Normally Clean! Thats My Review! Hope you Enjoyed It :)

Also if you dont know what that means, it translates to "feeling/spirit of place"). All of the teachers are highly trained and able to do their job well. I am currently in the Design Based Learning core, and it really helps you exercise your brain and they are very strict about not settling for "good enough" for the landforms. Every one of the projects have a criteria that has to be followed. Mr. Lew and Mrs. Robertson are great at getting the 6th graders into the hang of DBL. I am not sure about any of the traditional or tech teachers (the teachers from other cores). Mrs. Hildebrandt and Mrs. Najera are the most lenient out of all the DBL teachers, and they are also great club advisors for Dance Crew and Musical. And then the 8th grade DBL teachers. Mrs. Haro and Mr. Garcia are very good teachers as well. Mrs. Haro is a great science teacher. She has the ability to get the information she is teaching to get inside your head, specifically from the metric system song. Mr. Garcia is the strictest teacher out of all Chaparral. He is completely honest with his constructive feedback. But that is a good thing because he forces you to do well until all of the criteria is met. Chaparral also has a wide variety of electives from DVP (Digital Video Production) to Orchestra. I never had DVP, but I am in orchestra as a viola player, and Mr. Rochford is also a great teacher. He makes the all of the sections of the orchestra to play well. The only issue with him is that he gets angry at the orchestra a lot, but that is just because a few of us don't listen to the group, and therefore not playing together. The clubs that are at Chaparral are also plentiful. I am sure that there will always be something of interest for you, whether it is anime all the way to Christianity. They have it all. And then there are the types of groups at Chaparral. The jocks, who get into almost every school athletic sport they try out for. The people who are just friends. The people who are alone too much. The people who talk about anime too much. And the cubers, the people who cannot go one second without holding any type of speed cube (most of these people are also weebs) Overall, I would just like to say that Chaparral is a really good junior high school in Diamond Bar because of its teachers, choices of electives, and the diversity of interests the students have on certain topics. P.S. What is up with the business photos?

They also feel very violated every time they have history and they always come home complaining about their history teacher, Mrs. Miles. She is an extremely racist and biased teacher. I am highly considering taking my child out of this horrible and discriminative school. 0/10 do not recommend.Trash serves

They all know my son and always greeting to him on the hallway, even after he graduated almost one year ago. The younger age room 2 teachers took so good care of my son. Ms. Griselda was always reading and playing with the kids when I picked up my son in the late afternoon. she always shared with me how my son was eating that specific day and other fun facts about him, before I ask. Still also remember how nice and warm Ms. Cecilia was when I didn't make it for Mother's Day activity. They took a lot of pictures and greeted to me with so much love that day when I picked my son up. All the way up to room 6, Ms. G focus more on good behavior and learning. While strict, she is also a fun teacher. My son likes her so much and came back everyday telling me things that Ms. G shared. He also learned so much things, art, math, geology, etc. The school also host many activities and kids performance through the year, my husband enjoyed this a lot. Walnut International Montessori has been super LIFE CHANGING not just for our child, but also for us parents + the loves ones around us. Our child has learned skills, habits, and attitudes for life. We'll forever be grateful to Ms. Noelle, Carolina, Gie, Sabina, Hailey, Anna, Katie, Sam, Reina, Rabia, Connie, Andrea, Dima, etc. for their patience, dedication, expertise, and wholistic LOVE for the kids, parents, and the community. The staff has ALWAYS been sincere, selfless, and deeply passionate about kids' development. We wish we could stay forever with WIM-"--8 stars, if possible! Stay steadfast & patient to the other parents waiting out there! PS: Naysayers here aka "negatrons" get what they deserve for their lack of deep love, care, involvement, and sense of accountability & ownership to their child's welfare. 99% would stand on a hill about this.
