I didn't think he will pick up much mandarin since we do not speak mandarin at home but we are so amazed on how much he knows. The faculty at Tzu Chi are very nurturing and caring. It's great the class is small so the kids get more attention and care. The school is very safe and they also organized a lot of school activities so we are well connected. He had his ups and downs but that's normal for most students. He had a great support group of friends and teachers that did the best of their abilities. Mrs Carter was by far my favorite. She always remembered my name in person and on the phone. His principal Mrs Veneration was so understanding and wA very much into his needs. We already miss CJ Morris "again" because I went there from Kindergarten to 5th grade as well. It's so good to see that it's still a very good school for the local kids.

Great school with HORRIBLE principle!…read more Mary Wendland runs this position like a politician! I have two kids in this school one first grader boy and one older girl. Just like any boys he is active. Whenever there is physical contact, I get a note from the school even if it's as simple as kids joggling for position when they form a line That said when my boy got pushed down from behind by older kids running in school and scraped up his entire left hand plus nose and another wound 1/2" away from his left eye, I didn't even get notice nor call from the school. When I went to see her the next day, she kept saying that it wasn't her but was her staff. Everything was deferred to her staff even though she is is the leader of the school; certainly not the right response from a leader. I left after getting nothing from her so I went to Walnut Valley Unified School District to see the super Intendant and met the Assistant Super Intendant. Right away she expressed concerns and sympathy and was right on top of it to take care of the problem. Within few hours I got the first ever call (despite all the incidences that happened in the past) from Mary Wenland apologizing about the incident and her staff missing the standard protocols. Wow what a difference it makes when I spoke to her superior!! SMH! Multiple protocols were ignored/missed: 1. Didn't bother to ask why a child is injured and why he was injured 2. Didn't notify the parents or guardians 3. When injuries are sustained above the neck, there should have been a protocol to evaluate the student before sending him or her to the bus or home This is sad because she runs the school like a politician acting all tough all in wrong time and places until it was escalated. When a person puts her own before children's safety, She is certainly not fit to run an education institute in my opinion. I also encourage all Asian parents to speak up due to the nature of Asians being more quiet and reserved. When your kids aren't treated fairly at school don't be afraid to speak up!

Walnut resident paid large sum of property tax for a school in Walnut to be in Rowland Dist. It is unfair for Walnut resident kids that fall into this school district. Rowland district would not release Walnut resident kids to attend Walnut school dist, but will release other neighbors cities kids to attend Walnut school dist. How unfair for Walnut resident kids. How screw up and selfish is Rowland school district. The current principle Garcia is doing an excellent job for the school and the kids.

I say this all the time, this school quite literally saved my son Long story short, I originally sent my son to a preschool that was highly recommended by many of my students' parents over the years. However, with staff changes during Covid, my experience there was less than pleasant and it took a hard toll on my son's confidence. He was always afraid to express himself, make eye contact with the teacher, and wasn't himself.. I came to WUMP desperately trying to find another school to switch him out to (which was also highly recommended by some friends). Hearing about my son's current situation Miss Yonni (the director) did everything in her power to get me over to WUMP as soon as possible. My son was greeted here with SO much love and reassurance-- from the first day to graduation he had the most loving teachers ever. He regained his confidence again, felt comfortable to open up, and just blossomed here. I owe so much of who he is today to this wonderful preschool and I'm forever indebted to them My second child is currently finishing her final year here and I'm beyond sad she will be leaving! Between both my kids, they have had the best experience in almost all of the teachers' classes here. They love my children like their own and are so good at what they do! I'm an educator myself for many years, so I can confidently say that the teachers at WUMP are truly top of the line. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! My son went into public school kinder and was well above the level of proficiency expected for a kindergartner! There's a reason why this preschool is always recommended so strongly by word-of-mouth from parent to parent. WUMP is a neighborhood gem that I will continue to recommend to anyone who asks me for a preschool recommendation.

That alone tells me a lot about how comfortable and cared for she feels at school. The class size is small, which allows the teachers to give each child plenty of attention. The teachers are incredibly loving and thoughtful. One thing that always makes me smile is that almost every day when my daughter comes home, she has a different hairstyle -- the teacher braids her hair after nap time. It's such a small gesture, but it shows how much they care about the children. She has stayed healthy, learned many songs, and has also been learning good manners. The school also offers dancing and exercise classes, which helps the kids stay active and engaged. Overall, we are very grateful for the caring environment and would definitely recommend this preschool to other families.
