Historically, WHS : A Great school in a Great community!…read more If there is any ring of truth to some of the criticisms on here on Yelp about WHS, hopefully the appropriate people in the appropriate positions of authority will investigate and remedy - or else, be replaced. It can't be easy being a teacher or administrator in these modern, challenging times, given all the horror stories of present day teens, and their lack of home 'schooling' /up-bringing / discipline/ child-rearing; nonetheless, if there is a community of folks who can perform a better job than most high schools in this nation, Walnut is such a community! What a great high school, though... in a terrific little city outside LA, within the San Gabriel Valley (with one of the lowest crime rates) - one of the top ranked public school districts in Southern California ("Best School Districts For Your Buck in Southern California"; see https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/cities/best-school-districts-southern-california-2015/). Surrounded by and populated with "[q]uality housing" consisting of nice, clean homes part of a master-planned single family housing community, and a median household income at one of the top-earning percentiles in the country at $101,250 according to available Census data, WHS is almost somewhat idyllic WHS is significant part of Primary Education in Walnut, which is served by the prestigious Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD), which, in turn, has been ranked by numerous sources to be one of the top public school districts in all of Southern California. In addition to Walnut and WHS, WVUSD also serves parts of the city of Diamond Bar. Schools located in and around Walnut include: C.J. Morris Elementary School Collegewood Elementary School Oswalt Academy (Formerly known as Oswalt Elementary School) (Rowland Unified School District) Vejar Elementary School Walnut Elementary School Westhoff Elementary School Suzanne Middle School Southlands Christian Schools South Pointe Middle School[46] Chaparral Middle School Ronald Hockwalt Academies (Formerly known as Del Paso High School)[47] Walnut High School Diamond Bar High School Portions of the western side of Walnut are also served by the Rowland Unified School District. The proof is in the puddin (as the saying goes); Graduates from WHS have gone on to continue their educations at the top levels of world recognized/ nationally ranked colleges and universities, and enjoyed careers across the spectrum of professions and occupations. Students (and their parents) should be grateful (and proud as well) of being part of the Mustang family!

Ms Linda, Ms Teresa and Ms Letty are so friendly. My daughter is always happy about going and says everyone is so nice to her. She's already sad thinking about leaving. We love her experience there. Ms Linda from the being made me feel comfortable when I told her my daughter was shy and I was worried. She assured me that all kids are the same and we would see her fit right in. She was right. So thankful for this school.

I went in to ask when does kindergarten registration start her answer refer to the website. When do I need to sign up for the dual immersion program her answer refer to the website. It's very unprofessional to me it seems like she's been seating in that seat/position for decades. I'm sure there wasn't always a website and these questions I have are simple and happen around the same time every year. Again I came in two years ago to ask her response was the same. And I came last week to ask her response was the same. It's so frustrating to interact w a person like that and it makes my life as a parent trying to get clarification for enrollment harder.

My family's experience at IPoly has been very disappointing. The school relies heavily on group…read moreprojects, but there seems to be little accountability when students do not contribute. Even when one or two students carry the entire workload, everyone receives the same grade. This creates an unfair academic environment and punishes students who are actually trying their best. There also appears to be lack of structured teaching. Much of the learning feels self-directed without enough instructions, guidance, or support from teachers. Students who need clear explanations or traditional teaching methods can easily fall behind. Another serious concern is the classroom climate in upper-grade history classes. My child felt uncomfortable and perceived unequal treatment and insensitive remarks that made the learning environment feel unwelcoming. A particularly troubling issue involved the history teacher, Mr Jon Aguado. Students reported instances where he would physically pull on a student's hoodie to get their attention. Regardless of intent, physical contact of this nature felt inappropriate and unprofessional in a classroom setting. What was most concerning was the perception that this behavior went unaddressed, leaving students feeling uncomfortable and unheard. In addition, students shared that he frequently asked about their personal lives and private matters unrelated to coursework, making students uncomfortable. Teachers should maintain clear professional boundaries so students feel safe and respected. In addition, the 11th grade history classroom environment sometimes included strong political opinions expressed by the teacher, Mr Navaroli. Students felt that openly expressed pro-Trump viewpoints created discomfort and made some students hesitant to participate in discussions. Classrooms should encourage balanced dialogue where students feel safe sharing ideas without feeling pressured or uneasy due to a teacher's personal political stance. Although students have complained about these two history teachers, the counselors and principal did not care. One incident that stood out involved students arriving early to class but still being marked tardy. Despite being physically present before instruction began, attendance was recorded in a way that did not reflect the reality, and concerns raised about the situation were not handled fairly. Situations like this make students feel unheard and discouraged.

Crazy junior year team project ( not all team members work but teachers don't care. One English teacher told my kid's team when they asked for guidance - Are you trying to ask me to pre-grade you ? ) and in addition tons of homework and tests with no guidance. Kids just working long hours into the wee hours in the am; always lack of sleep; another crazy senior individual project plus tons of work with no proper guidance. No AP. Poor college classes to choose from. In a nutshell, do not send your kids there. Your kid(s) is/ are expected to work on his/her own , as if he/ she is own teacher. Then what's the point of sending your kids to school?
