My husband was working in the area for a week, so we booked at Walnut RV Park in Vega, TX. It's a small RV park but the spots are level and clean. it is not fenced in so there is traffic driving by your camper all hours of the day and night. We spent a day not being able to dump our tanks because something was busted or clogged in our spot and it just bubbled up from the ground. They called a plumber, but no one ever showed up so they were very accommodating and had us move to another spot. However, I did notice they put someone else in the exact spot, and I know a plumber has not been here. However, they don't have their septic hooked up so maybe they asked if they were going to use it before putting them there. Everything was good at the new spot. They advertise a laundry room, but it is actually a public laundry mat, and all of the dryers are out of order except for one. I walked in the lady's bath house. It had a sink and 3 stalls and a shower. I couldn't look at the shower though because someone was in it. From what I seen it wasn't in too bad of shape. Now I will say the lady in the office is super friendly and fun to talk to. She is always available. She even came out and parked us at almost 11:00 pm. So, all in all, if you are just looking for a place to swing in on your trip down Route 66 and not have to unplug this is a perfect spot. But if you intend to stay here awhile, use the facilities, and enjoy your vacation I would look elsewhere. Because it's a place to park. Oh and after reading all the old reviews there was definitely no sweet treats offered. read more

They are extremely accommodating! The RV resort is small but very level and quiet. We were only stopping for the night. They texted us ahead of time with great directions during construction. And to top it off there was home made chocolate cake. We will definitely stop here again if we are passing through. read more

These were the nicest check in women we've ever met. Started out with a choice of treats. I picked Pecan bites and they were the best. Peggy helped us park. Small park, gravel and grass spots but plenty of room very level spots. Bathrooms were old and dated but very clean and cutely decorated! On our way back from our trek to see the eclipse we found ourselves in Amarillo and every RV park we could find was closed, didn't take day of reservations online, and/or wasn't answering the phone. We had the most pleasant experience staying the night here at Walnut RV! We were exhausted from our road trip from California and was calling around trying to find a RV park to stay, it was already after hours so was worried we wouldn't find a place. Thankfully Misty answered my call and accommodated us for the last minute night's stay. She was really so sweet and very hospitable! First RV park we stayed at that offers complimentary breakfast! She also gave us some very delicious cowboy cookies! Will definitely come back on our next road trip! read more

Did an over night stay here in our 35' rv. The park was clean, but I can't speak about the bathrooms as I did not use them. The owner and staff were welcoming and very helpfull. Most of the spaces were good sized, but some were pretty narrow. there's grocery store nearby which was convenient. I would have given a better rating if not for all the road noise. read more

Was probably nice in its day but seems pretty run down. Sites are pretty level dirt and gravel. Our View is of a ran down mobil home. No breakfast because someone had surgery but gave us two little personal pies. Wouldn't have stayed but made reservations 8 mo ago and paid upfront. Lady up front was very nice. The picnic table is wooden and seen their better days too but we had one almost no one else did. Only in public areas. If we had a camper by us their sewer hook up is right at our picnic table Didn't use the bathhouse so can't comment on it. It's an old block house building You do get 5 G here and there is a public laundry on site. Nothing to brag about accept nice person at office area. Beware of office steps (very unstable). No view almost no trees. I felt it was VERY overpriced for what it is but we are here and will try to make the best of it for one night. There was a Loves not too far away that would have been much nicer but probably louder. This place could be nice again with quite a bit of TLC and updates. Needed to come back on and add what happened last night. We were walking our two 9lb and 12lb dogs by our campsite and the trailer home across the street (see pictures) suddenly a very large black and white Great Dane looking dog jumped his fence and ran up on my husband and one of our dogs. My husband grabbed our dog and yelled loud and mean to get back. The dog did back off but it was a Very frightening situation. Dog owners beware. That house does have a beware of dogs sign on their front the home but their dog easily jumped the short broken down back yard fence. In picture I'm sitting in our truck. This might be a long review but Misty and this RV Park deserves it. We came here for a night on our way home. I called Misty, the manager here, and she texted me right back. She gave me so many details that we were so excited about meeting her and staying at Walnut RV park. Then she said she was making a cake for our arrival and wanted to know if we had any dietary restrictions . Once we checked in she recommended the Mexican Restaurant across the street that was really great! She also told me if we have any trouble or concerns she answers her phone 24/7! This place is clean and a bit dated but everything is very clean. Everything works and it is definitely a RV park you don't want to miss! By the way the cake was amazing!! read more

Y'all have got to stay here!!! What a delight. We stopped here on our way back home to California; on the phone they were extremely accommodating. When we got here they welcomed us into their home, explained about the park and what was being made for breakfast in the morning. Let me tell you, these ladies are absolutely wonderful. When a local stray cat snuck into our motorhome, my husband decided just to keep it, and they actually went to the store for us at 9 o'clock on a Sunday night and bought cat food, kitty litter, and a cat box! The following morning they hand-delivered biscuits and gravy to our RV. My husband swears it's the best this side of the Mississippi! They are great fun and are not lacking an ounce of southern charm! I wish every night could be like a night at the Walnut RV park! read more

Right from the start you can tell that the Managers are service oriented. Only the second time in almost 7 years of full-timing that we checked in from inside a residence - immediately gave you the homey vibe. That was followed up by delicious cookies upon check in!! The site itself was long and wide, plenty of room for everything. FHU and everything worked great. There was some highway noise, but our fans drowned it out. The bathroom/showers could us some updating, but were functional enough. $45/night was a bit pricey, but we would definitely stay here again next time through. read more

The ladies who manage the park are very friendly hosts and show great hospitality to their guests. They had fresh coffee and homemade cinnamon rolls in the morning for breakfast, complimentary to their guests. They also had milk, juice, yogurt, oatmeal and fruit to offer. If you have severe cigarette smoke and/or cat allergies, be aware if you go into the house/office. They will come outside to accommodate you for billing if this is a concern for you. We only spent 1 night as we were just passing through and since our RV is self-contained, did not use the restrooms/shower facilities. The spot we were parked in was long enough to park our 38' motorhome with our truck attached and we never had to detach our tow vehicle. The cost was usual for the area with a discount for military, Good Sam and some other memberships. When we come back through the area, we will stay there again. read more

I stayed at this RV park during a trip across the US on Route 66. Misty and Peggy were not just super accommodating but treated me like family. They really went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed, and even make their guests a delicious hot breakfast in the morning! The facilities are clean, and if you forget anything, Misty and Peggy are happy to provide. I was tempted to stay at the park longer because it was favorite campsite of my trip! read more
