I'm not a Walmart basher they do have decent prices & selections. This place is a nightmare at holiday time, long lines and not enough staff. It's a shame that they cannot compete with Amazon when they have so many physical store locations. Walmart you should use your stores as hubs for deliveries as well as retail locations. Poor execution if you're already doing this. Problems are self-created. Drive into the parking lot of the Salem store and on the right side of the building it says 'pick up'. Common sense says if you buy something online this is where you go get your merchandise. Nope. This is where you go to get your online grocery order. Walmart how much of your business is online grocery pick up in comparison with non-grocery items? I know for me personally when I grocery shop I don't think Walmart. Customer Service is dependent on the person waiting on you. I entered my order at the customer service kiosk and waited..waited..waited. The store greeter saw me waiting and when I asked she wouldn't call anyone to help me. Poor attitude. I had to go wait in the Customer Service line (and wait yet again). They called for help. Reward your Associates for good performance; it will pay you back ten-fold. Your website is nothing like Amazon. The 'feel' of your stores are like walking into a 1970's K-mart. read more

I will gladly leave a review I was just at the superstore 2 o'clock Tuesday, September 23. I stood at the sporting goods counter shopping for a pocket knife. I waited a few minutes until I saw a young woman with a Walmart vest coming by. I asked her if she could help me, she says I will try. She walked behind the counter and said I don't have keys to the cabinet. Let me see if I can get them. She walked off came back two minutes later she said I'm sorry no one has the keys. I'll push this button over here and over the loudspeaker they will call for someone to come and help you, I waited a couple of minutes and walked away shaking my head as I looked up a young men maybe 13 on a full-size bicycle flew past me just barely missing me. I was stunned. This used to be a nice store now it's a zoo it's not worth shopping at go. Any place else you can't even get help there. I'm disgusted they get zero stars. read more

I went to the Amherst, NH store... First time in this store and also for grocery shopping . I loved the variety of foods and brands in addition to the low costs in comparison to other markets. There were a few items that were more expensive than what I found such as V8 juice (bottle), $4.00 in comparison to $3.39 I usually pay at other markets. Likewise, I could say the reverse for some items. Chobani Zero sugar smoothies were $1 at Walmart but $2 at other markets. All in all, we really enjoyed our shopping experience and will be returning soon! read more

I've literally cashed a government check, a TAX RETURN check from the IRS in Plaistow NH Walmart, and here they wouldn't cash my PAYROLL check?? I only have my permit, I am underage so I don't have an ID. And who carries their passport on them, either way don't even have one. Ridiculous!!! I had a run in with the rudest manager ever, "Team Leader" Maria of the customer service area. On 8/6/23, between 930-1000 a.m., my wife and I went to return some diapers our son grew out of that were from our baby shower. There's apparently a $50 no receipt limit for returns and one return per customer. So I said my wife wanted to return one and I wanted to return one. Maria the manager said we couldn't do that. I knew she was wrong because I've done this before with other items, the rule is attached to the individual and the license used for the return. She basically implied we could have brought these diapers from somewhere else like target, which was incredibly rude. You'd think she would've known they use different UPCs before she made this rude comment (so a box of diapers from target wouldn't scan in Wal-Mart). She was so arrogant about her statement, so I pulled my phone out and looked it up and I'd also asked her to show me the policy that says we couldn't do what I was trying to do. She said she didn't know it. Really? You just insulted my wife and I with a position of supreme confidence and yet you don't know/can't find the policy? Keep in mind, this whole exchange was done while she was sitting down doing office type work and making no eye contact with us. Call me crazy, but if you are working at the customer service dept., shouldn't interacting with customers be your number one priority? Shouldn't paperwork be secondary? To make matters worse, after I insisted on her showing me the return policy that says what she was saying, she finally just started to ignore me completely and then eventually just walked off without saying anything. I had to have one of her coworkers page her. Upon returning, she tells one of the other customer service girls to process the other box of diapers. She doesn't even say anything to me, no explanation for walking off. Nothing! Another manager who appeared to be her supervisor essentially made some sarcastic sounding remarks about the return policy and threatened to have us flagged. I asked him if it's your policy to have your managers walk off on customers mid sentence while saying absolutely nothing about where they were going and why they were walking off? He said she went back to talk to him. He appeared to be defending this behavior of the manager Maria. So clearly she was wrong on the stores return policy because after she talked to the top manager they processed the return. I'm sure she went back there and spun her little tale of just how unfair I was blah, blah, blah. It was very disappointing to see her manager basically snub me when I brought up how rude she was. Thank god for Amazon! We never shop here anymore, and we only went here to return diapers that were given to us. I'd rather donate them next time rather than ever step foot in another Wal-Mart. No matter where you go these stores are caulked full of rude people that are blazed out of their minds. read more

Did an order for lawn care spreader related item. Placed the order on line and would pick it up the following day. It was for a 20lb bag. I later learned that they didn't have the 20lb bag, so they substituted 2-10lb bags for the 1 20lb bag. There was a small price difference. IF you are going to to substitute something that is equivalent in the weight and the same product, why not give me the original price that I had OKd and paid for vs. charging me slightly more because the 10-lb bag costs slightly more. That is not exactly a 1 to 1 substitution or a good business practice. Sorry I ordered it from walmart as the prices were equivalent approx at homedepot or lowes and I could have gone there for the 20lb bag..... :-( read more

Do not use their bakery for custom orders! Took me FOUR visits to get someone to speak to - even though their hours said they were open - and the last time I had to speak to three managers and have someone paged before I could even put in a cake order. And then after all that they couldn't even do a simple design so I had to scramble last minute to bake my own (since I bake 1,000x better than them, just not a cake decorator). Just not worth it. I've read a mix of reviews good and bad for this Walmart Supercenter in Salem. I've had pretty good experiences at this store since I shop here during off peak times. I buy a lot of stuff at this store including groceries, produce, home essentials, toys, automotive supplies, and garden supplies. I also frequent the auto care center at the Salem Walmart for my standard oil changes ($29.88) or pit crew service ($19.88) since the Derry Walmart Supercenter and the Hudson Walmart both close to my home, do not offer onsite auto care services. I try to arrive here very early when they open at 7 AM or later in the day on a weekday when the place is not too crazy busy. Park on the north side of the building near the auto service center and enter through the side door near the service bays. The wait for an oil change to be completed can vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on demand. They also give you a barcode tag receipt after writing up the paperwork and taking the vehicle keys, which you can check the status of your vehicle at any scanner in the store. I have been satisfied with the pit crew service (basic oil change) here for my old car (they have 5W20 oil) and will keep coming here since the price is very competitive. read more

SO pissed off right now. This place SUCKS! Waited 25 minutes in line. Yes 25 minutes. The place has 34 registers and only had 2 open, along with the stupid self checkouts. Had trouble finding a carriage as the bay was nearly empty. Guess where they were? Outside in the parking lot. There were so many out there that they nearly blocked the isle. Many carriages had trash and garbage in them. I did my shopping (for work) and many things were out of stock. I think they must be getting ready for inventory or some BS- Anyways. 25 minutes. The checkout woman was upset and trying the best she could do. I do not blame her. The (A) Manager came by and did NOTHING. Just looked at the situation and ignored it. If I was the manager I would open myself. The woman customer behind me had to sit on the bagging counter as she was so tired and in pain from so much standing and waiting. So it looks like Wally World is cutting back on staff. Too bad as there are so many out there looking for work, AND this company has freekin BILLIONS. So now from now on, My monthly work shopping, well over $300 will be spent at Target. Bleepin Walfart. read more

I signed up for grocery home delivery over 2 years ago and had no problem. Now all of a sudden for the past week there are no slots open for home delivery. they are all filled for an entire week. I never had this problem even when covid was around. I call the store, no one answers, I go to Help on their web site and get told hundreds of stupid stories like the store is busy, etc. If I want curbside pick up there are loads and loads of slots open but not a one open for home delivery, for an entire week. I have said something is wrong with their web site and the now tell me they are going to look at my account, its not my account, its the store site and I am getting no where with them. read more

DO NOT USE THEM FOR PROPANE EXCHANGE!!! The guy that works this area is abrasive and just destructive. Tosses the tanks into the cage naming them into other tanks. When you try to ask him a question you get nothing but a condescending answer or nothing at all since he likes to walk away from customers. He is a risk to this store and yourself as I am certain the propane tanks are not 100% empty when you exchange them so tossing them around is not what I would deem as safe. The assistant manager could not follow they there was an issue with this. She also could not understand that when I drove up the guy told me one of the tanks was full. I told him it was not pulling propane so I thought it was empty. Nope, defective. So they took two back; one empty and one full defective but would not refund me the money for one of the tanks. read more

I love Wal-Mart and consider myself a Wal-Mart snob. Oxymoron you thought? Nope. Not all Wal-Mart's are created equal. The dump in Lynn, MA isn't a supercenter (last time I checked) but this one is. I take the nice 40 min drive to this Wal-Mart in New Hampshire because this state is tax free, they have the best tattoo parlors close by and the stores don't seem as crowded. My laptop got all jacked up and I had to buy a new one, so I drove on up and got a candy apple red HP for a great price. I'm so in love with it. I also ended up buying a plethora of brightly colored sports bras, workout clothes and groceries/ wine for a Father's Day gathering. Driving up to NH is so worth it if you need to shop at a decent Wal-Mart. Other notes: -Wendy's drive thru next door. -Located down the street from a bunch of stores and the Rockingham Park Mall. -Staff seems burned out, but I think all staff at Wal-Mart's from across the nation just want a break. -A lot of beer/wine. I highly suggest stocking up here if you need to supply alcohol for a party, cookout or your own house. read more

I went in because I seen online that They had the Barbie airplane available. I called and they told me they had it in stock. I arrived could not find it on the shelf anywhere stood around for 10 minutes to try to find an employee finally found one they basically called me a liar saying that no one told me it was in stock. I have had two incidents where Walmart left a bad taste. I was an avid Walmart visitor, I would go to my local Walmart and window shop or just walk around to kill time and I was very happy with it. I checked out this Walmart a couple times... The first time I went to get a bathroom scale. I knew where I would find them since I was familiar with isles due to walking but they were not there, the sign for them was but they were not. I checked several other isles where they could possibly be and nothing. I decided to ask for help. I spent a good 15 minutes looking for an employee to help me. NO ONE! There was one employee I found but she was new and knew nothing. I continued looking and finally went to the front desk and put in a complaint. They had almost 20 employees up front near the registers and NO ONE on the floor. The excuse was "We are busy up front". There were more employees at the registers than people in the store. The manager tried to help me find them...she said they were moved but not yet put out. I got a "I'm sorry we don't have them out", then gone. The second time was a bathing suit. I went to look for a bathing suit and wanted to try it on. I made my way to the fitting rooms. No one there. I waited...waited...waited...looked around the clothing and surrounding area but there was no one to be found. I called the store three times asking for them to send someone. Nothing...went to the service desk, "Does anyone actually work here and if they do I have been waiting and calling the store at the fitting rooms and no one is there." the MANAGER turns around and tells me..."I have been here at the phones this whole time and there was no calls. First I was surprised that she was calling me a liar so I showed her my phone and the number and her store. She said with the worst attitude, "Well I don't think you called because I was answering phones and you didn't call. I spoke to someone on the phone. So we get to the fitting rooms where she runs into two employees, both who work the fitting room, but they were off shift. That manager looked like she was so frustrated that I made her do her JOB that wanted to go off and right there and tell her if she doesn't want to help people she go be homeless because that's all jobs are...clearly she is not meant to be a manager. read more

REVIEW OF WALMART AUTO "SERVICE" Walmart sells an inexpensive Car Battery at a reasonable price with free installation. Time will tell if the battery is good quality. What I did not bargain for was paint damage because the Battery "Technician" apparently closed the hood with a greasy hand and then tried to remove the evidence by wiping it away with what appears to have been an equally greasy cloth. 20 minutes spent at home, polishing and waxing the hood and I was able to remove the many surface scratches created by the careless Walmart Automotive Employee. The damage is gone but the fact remains. A poorly trained employee damaged the customer's property. Oh well. Sometimes you get more than you paid for. Although it may be something extra that you didn't want. read more

This review would have been a 1 star had I not filled out a survey with my issues purchasing tires. I received a call today from the automotive manager (Timra) who wanted to rectify the issue. Timra was wonderful to talk to and came up with the solution to train store leads on how to get tires after the service dept closes. I was impressed that she brought a solution so other customers won't have the same problems. This is exactly how customer complaints should be handled. She took the initiative herself to want to make a change for the store and to help costumers get the products they want. If you need tires ask for Timra!!! read more

I used to make a weekly trip to Walmart. Then something happened. Walmart changed. They decided to reduce the number of products they sell. That somehow managed to affect the products that *should* still be offered. Now when I go in search of some basic everyday item, what do I find? Empty shelves. C'mon people, this is Walmart! Someone forgot to tell the bosses that we come here for the variety of cheap everyday products. So now I shop at Target. I stopped off at Walmart to get a few items. They have 27 lanes, and only one if them is open!? Unbelievable incompetence. Looking for clothes? No one is there to help you in the men's section, or shoe section, or pretty much any section. Looking for a computer? Most staff are not knowledgeable about the products. Problem is, they treat their customers as bad as their employees. This huge corporation makes billions of dollars in profits, but shunts all of the oney away from the workers, so much so that most Walmart employees literally eed food stamps to get by. That's shameful. Perhaps if they finally paid their employees more than $9 an hour, they would have more employees on hand, and more competent ones at that. Costco pays its workers more than twice as much as Walmart, and they have even better sales, because it has better service and more competent employees read more

I have never experience such a chaos in my life before tonight. Okay I agree it was Black Friday, places should be expected to be busy, but not this! To start with the parking lot, spaces were all taken. Then to find a shopping cart was another challenge. I had to walk all over the parking lot looking and asking other shoppers if they were done with theirs. I had come in to get a deal on a laptop. Asking where it might be is where all the problems began. I was told by too many workers that they were keeping the laptops in the produce section. (Really? That makes a lot of sense, right?) After being pushed and shoved by so many other shoppers, I made my way to where I was told to go to find out they had none. Then I pushed my way to opposite side to get a different one from the electronics section. My total wait was over two hours. The store was a total mess, there was no happy faces, no organization with lines. I'm not sure what type of savings this was, but it was absolutely not worth it! read more

This is a great Wal-Mart for a variety of reasons some of which include the people watching, the Subway here is by far one of the best kept I have ever seen in this area and when you really need something like sneakers but don't have the money to buy a pair of $60 Nikes this is where we go. This is no longer 24 hours but is still open until Midnight which is still super convenient. They have a great Tire and car servicing center and in general this Wal-Mart has a lot more to offer then other similar ones in the area. Definitely 4 star worthy. read more

The only thing I love is that it seems like it is open ALL the time. It could stil be 24 hrs but I am not sure. The food section is pretty big and I would buy stuff from here if I had to, but I always find the prices to be slightly higher than say Market Basket (they really need to hire me for marketing).
