August 21, 2022, I purchased a pound of peppered chicken from the deli. I made a sandwich later that day, and the meat was slightly off, but I thought it was the pepper mixed in the chicken. The next day I was preparing my second sandwich and felt slime on the meat as I was separating it. I tried to explain about the poor quality of the meat, the customer service agent was slimming saying he can not take it back, then a woman comes out saying cold cuts get bad after three to four days. However, my pound was truly spoiled from the start. All I wanted was for them to recognize and pull this meat from the deli, as this MB is my main shopping site. Beware of elderly woman working at the bread section. Overheard her yelling at someone about the burger bun being in the wrong place. Saw her literally following and chasing the customer down a few feet and snatched the bread from the shelf and said in a really mean and rude manner the bread doesn't belong there. All the burger buns were in that spot so I don't understand why that's a problem? Maybe it's a special burger bun section. Bad experience at Market basket bridge street in lowell. I went there today 5/7/20 and store manager along with the three women that was working at the "customer service" desk was rude. I accidentally forgot my seltzer water that cost $6 in the bottom of my carriage at the carriage return cart parking lot and was told that they couldn't help me. I spent $125 I never been to the "customer service" desk before so it's not like I'm just trying to get free things. But i was treated like I was. All I asked was for them to check if someone turned them in or the carriage man found it. But instead they checked the cameras... over seltzer water? Really? Now what if an elderly told them that she spilled her milk in the parking lot by accident will they just turn her away and tell her that they can't do anything for her? Probably not right? Well atleast I would hope not. Sure this review might not even do anything. But That is not customer service. I shop at market basket because it is the closest grocery store by my house. But I think I will make the extra 20 minutes drive to stop and shop for better service and better food quality next time. I also called corporate and no call back. read more

This store is the worst. So many things are expired and if you forget to check the date you will go home with multiple expired products. There's always like 20 employees standing in the aisles talking, they should be checking dates instead of trying to get dates. I was skeptical about shopping grocery store in Lowell but this location is just over the Dracut line. The store is very clean and the staff is very friendly. It is without a doubt the best value of any grocery store around. Also apparently for the rest of the year they are taking additional 4% off everything in the store. This place has the slowest deli known to man. I'll spend at least 20 minutes standing there for 2 things.

A great store (bright, clean, well-stocked) with a fabulous staff (friendly, knowledgable, quick to offer help). I recall around St. Pat's they had a boombox playing Irish music near the soda bread. It was so charming and small-town feeling. (And I'm not even Irish... and I HATE soda bread.....haha!) Sometimes it's the little things. I always got a warm feeling here, even moreso after MB's triumphant return last summer. Bottom line- good prices and well stocked, but it's really the people that keep me going out of my way even though other stores may be closer. read more

Rounding out my errands today was a trip to Market Basket (MB) to see if THIS one had the cereal we like (I think I have now visited all the MB supermarkets in the Merrimack Valley); no luck in any of the others. Um. No. Not here either. This location, near one of the bridges in Lowell, is a tiny, dirty store. Their cereal aisle consists of perhaps one box each of Raisin Bran, Corn Flakes, and Cheerios, and they don't carry the more gourmet-type cereals by Barbara's Bakery or Nature's Path. The bread section is shoved into a corner, the fruit occupies a 3x3-foot space, the deli counter is ridiculously small, and the dairy area is so much smaller than any I have ever seen. There is no bakery cuz there's no room. However, the place does have a complete ethnic food section and is perhaps the only supermarket in the area that has red lentils. Because of its small size, sounds are exaggerated, so the screaming of a lady yelling at her baby pierced my ears (see my earlier ice cream post). It's difficult to maneuver around the parking lot, and the traffic is horrendous (and the drivers horrible) so I couldn't wait to get out of there. Will never return to this particular MB, but I will frequent the others. read more

I got fed up with the rich peoples store aka Roche Bros. when they wanted me to pay $7.50 a pound for ground turkey, so I went up to Lowell and stopped in at the MB. I paid $3.50 lb for wonderful fresh ground turkey, both white meat and dark meat. Also got Organic Boneless Chicken Breasts for $3.89 lb. And grass fed ground beef for $4.99 lb. I also picked up 2 half gallons of Organic fat free milk for $6.00! So you want to complain about the atmosphere? I love it, and every real unspoiled person who shops and works there. read more

OMGGG what's up with all you avocadoes not being ready?!?! perhaps I have an obsession with avocadoes and its the #1 item in my fridge and I have to have it everyday, three times a day. But it honestly blows when I have to run to a different little store to grab them. Been here lots of time and not once I have been able to walk out of here with avocadoes in my hands. if they aren't ready to be eaten don't but them out!!! A grocery store should not be going weeks on end without restocking a product that has run out on the shelves, it's crazy how long they go even after you have alerted them that something is lacking on the shelves...I once counted 3 weeks and a day before they brought something I was looking for. Also, employees of all market baskets really need to be courteous with shoppers, when you work at a store it is only polite not be elbowing them away so you can pass first. Kind of funny looking at all of the poor reviews for a grocery store. People that are mad the deli takes a while are the same people who will verbally assault you if their turkey is too thick. If they're out of a product, tell the manager. Sometimes, the manager may be unaware that the store will not carry the product anymore. I shop here and at the Hannaford around the corner in Dracut. The Hannaford is cleaner and offers more choices, the Market Basket is on average 20-23% cheaper on my total bill. Many of the 3-4 dollar items are a full $1+ cheaper at Market Basket. So make your own choice, clean and snobby costs 20% more it is not a matter of 5 cents, my bill on average for 2 weeks is about $190. at MB but at Hannaford it is always about $240. I went in last night around 8:20 to pick up a few items at the Dracut/ Lowell bridge street market basket to pick up a few groceries. As I was cashing out at it was approaching 9 so I hurried and then realized I had forgot peanut butter, the extremely friendly cashier Cheyenne even offered another employee to go grab it for me. I didn't want to inconvenience anyone so I declined and ran to grab it myself, as I was grabbing the peanut butter this very rude young lady in a maroon coat looks directly at me with disgust then turns to her fellow employees and says "ugh she's still here get the fuck out already it's closing". Mind you it had just turned 9 o'clock and I was not over staying my welcome. I do understand everyone wants to go home I work in a similar environment and that's why I hurried along to make sure I was out before 9. I was so taken back by her response I didn't even have enough time to get her name, this young lady was also cleaning up aisles previously and I had heard her bad mouth customers and how messy they are how she hates it here. I completely understand the frustration towards the general public at times but if you absolutely hate what you do that much please find another place of employment, because not only did I feel extremely unwelcome but uncomfortable as well. read more

So I hate to be one of those ppl who only review when I have a complaint BUT I was so shaken up yesterday at the Markets kitchen I couldn't even stick around to speak to a manager. I did go to customer service and left my complaint to be related to a manager. There were two employees behind the counter; a young man and young woman. She was obviously supposed to be in charge of training him (my take on things) but did nothing but verbally berate him from the time I got there to finally when I left in frustration and was mortified for him. He kept his cool but I want him to know that is not the norm on how to be treated at your job (most likely his 1st) and probably didn't want to go home and tell his parents he quit because the girl was being mean. But I want to say that I work as a shopping agent for the elderly (for the past 7 years) and am in various m.b.'s almost every single day and I have NEVER witnessed an employee speak to another employee in anything but a respectful tone of voice. Maybe the 'trainer' needs to have more training on how to work with and guide fellow employees in a helpful and respectful manner. I am giving a 1 star rating on my experience but does not reflect my over all rating on m.b. as a whole. read more

I've been shopping at the market basket on bridge street for close to two years. Never had a single complaint until now. I had a few items to purchase so I went to the express line. An older women standing in front of me decided to skip over to a shorter line, which allowed me to move up. The older woman ended up returning to my line and got behind me. Guess there was no shorter lines. The express line has two register, one in front of the other. The second one was just about freed up so I asked one of the two women in front of me if they were together or if they had separate purchases? Keep in mind that I only asked so that I was not jumping ahead of anyone in front of me. The woman, who appeared to be an off duty market basket employee (she had one of the red jackets around her arm), turned around and told me that she was in line, than pointed at the older women who had been in line before me and said that she was in line, and proceeded to point out that the already grown line began over there. I was shocked that this employee was attempting to reprimand me in line as it did not appear to hold the best method in driving customer service. The older woman behind me spoke up immediately and explained to the off duty employee that I was the next person in line and also tried pointing out that I was only asking them if they were both together in line because it appeared from afar that they were. The off duty employee ended up turning around after this was said to her without even uttering a single apology for her behavior. I get that for most employees at any company, what you do on the clock matters the most in regards to anything work related, but I think this employee failed to realize that whether your off duty or not, you still reflect the company name in my eyes as a consumer. I do not appreciate behavior like this especially when I was not in the wrong. read more

Since the new Market Basket has opened on Bridge St., selection has increased tremendously. I have shopped the Bridge St. store for well over 12 years as it is the most convenient location for me. The parking lot has always been a problem, and unfortunately that has not yet been much improved, but I'm hoping once the old store is removed and the final building project in the plaza is completed, the parking situation will improve. You can't beat the prices at MB, and now, with the new store, selection, availability, and convenience are great! And I like their instore made pizza better than the local pizzerias. read more

My husband and I went on Saturday 9/24/11, approximately 3pm, had cashier 182KR on register three. What a major unpleasant experience she is. We thought we must have done something wrong to tick her off. She is void of any personality and if she does not like her job then she does not belong there. Zero, zero, zero personality. That is not customer service! Maybe she needs to be retrained to at least say hello and let her know that the customer is not a bad thing to have at her register. I have been shopping at Delmoulas/Market Basket since I was just a little kid. I have been there when they were upgrading the store on Bridge St. We need to get everyone back together and stop the garbage of firing people and thewing CEO out. This great store is the nicest in the chain of what seems to me to be America's and perhaps the world's best supermarkets. It is new, clean, well situated and attractive. The prices are unsurpassed anywhere, including the Costco type places. They average over 20% below the competition. The fresh produce is excellent, especially the sweet corn which they bring in from May to October. Great variety and excellent service. They stock during the day, meaning people are in the aisles to help. The managers are on the floor constantly. Market Basket is crowded because it is GOOD. But waiting at the cashier is always less than 2-3 minutes. And the very fact that this beautiful Market Basket is where it is, right in urban, in town neighborhood of Lowell is Market Basket chain's crowning achievement - they are in the same neighborhoods all around New England.
