As a steady and constant customer at least twice weekly for the last 8 years I can say with complete honesty that this Market Basket is close to my heart I have never had a problem with anything I buy here, fruits and vegetables are always fresh. Meats that I buy are ground chicken and ground turkey along with fish. Always fresh. Eggs are always great never had a problem. I love the huge selection of different ethnic foods they offer from Hispanic to Asian. I am Hispanic so I live the fact they always have a huge selection of plantains. They have the most amazing fresh French bread. Prices are definitely reasonable, especially since they are doing the 4% off so sad it will end soon. So many people come to shop here from all walks of life which is another reason it's great. Cashiers young or old are always friendly. Always helpful. Thank you Market Basket on fletcher for serving our community. read more

The store manager is very unprofessional has no courtesy nor customer service skills he humiliated me in front of all the customers when he could have called me to the side and talk to me he's very rude disrespectful and if I was a crazy lady I could have punched him in my face because he ended up nose to nose with me as me being a woman I didn't do it but Mr Moriarty or whatever the hell you name is there's a police report of harassment on you and I will keep calling corporate because I did pay my $50 and you need to look in the files because I did pay my $50 and you need to look in the files read more

Horrible customer service and the produce and meat is not always fresh. Overcrowded, no parking. Most of the customers are just as bad. Buying 2 carts of food, not being able to steer them and walking into you. It's a mess. One time I went there, I had my 2 little boys with me. We were checking out and the cashier and the bagger were having a conversation about their saturday night. My children do not need to hear who they hooked up with. They also took forever to check me out since they had to stop and talk between items. Appalled, I told the manager that this behavior was not acceptable. He told me he couldn't control what his cashiers did. I was so angry. I left. I only go there now if I'm on my way home from work and need to pick up 1 or 2 things. But thats rare. I prefer the new stop and shop in chelmsford. A little bit more pricier, but they have awesome curbside delivery. Order online and pick it up when you are done. And if I need to go inside, all of their employees are friendly and helpful. read more

I can only assume that the reason this Market Basket doesn't have a review yet is that no one has dared to go there. This place is crazy!! When I lived closer to Boston, I used to shop at the Somerville and Chelsea stores, and in my opinion, this one rivals them in both crowdedness and general tension among shoppers. The parking lot can only be described as a clusterf*ck. Think the Somerville MB with a lot half the size. The lanes are way too narrow and the only exits are along the driveway right next to the building, leaving you no option other than to navigate through the throngs of pedestrians who don't bother to look before running out in front of moving cars. And you've got people who are so desperate to get that coveted front door parking space that they hold up lines of cars behind them waiting to get by. Much of the traffic congestion observed in the parking lot recreates itself inside the store. Cart traffic jams are not uncommon and there are always long lines at the registers. The other day only one express register was open, causing me much rage as I waited in line ten minutes to purchase my three items. I'm a big fan of the MB, so it pains me to give this one two stars, but each time I leave this location, I vow never to go again. Maybe this time I'll listen to myself. read more

I go here often because I don't drive and it's only a 10-minute walk for me. I go a few times per week and buy fewer groceries in more trips. I rely on the red baskets, which have been dwindling in number over the last two years or so. I often must spend 5 minutes hunting down a red basket as soon as I arrive. Both times I complained about this (today and about a year ago), I was told by a manager that people steal the baskets, and that's why they're not buying anymore. It seemed like collective punishment in a way. There must be a better solution than simply refusing to restock these baskets. I hope management reads these reviews occasionally. read more

I think I'll stick to the Wood Street MB, but even then it's not much better. The inside is just like any other Market Basket. Today I ran into some issues with the produce; several pints of cherry tomatoes had visible mold on them. Same with the strawberries; I went through at least eight or nine cartons of discolored strawberries before finding one I felt comfortable purchasing. Other than that, like I said, it's like any other Market Basket; busy! At least the customers here are friendly. I encountered lots of smiling faces as I excused myself through the aisles, and ran into a couple polite, cute kids as well. When I went back outside after buying my groceries, I felt like I was playing for the New England Patriots, trying to dodge cars coming out of every which way. Same thing when I went inside; people peeling into the parking lot, racing through the aisles trying to find a spot, backing out at 100MPH, ect. I know that's not exactly MB's fault...but maybe there's some way to make the parking lot safer for customers? There were also shopping carts everywhere, and I couldn't find a visible cart corral anywhere. As long as no one scratches my car, we're cool, MB. We're cool. read more

The aisles were tight, and there seemed to be saw dust on the floors. I came in to buy some lobsters and even though the prices were good, I didn't like that i couldn't see the quality of the lobsters before they were bagged. There were no tanks in the front counter. What disappointed me was that the lobster I had them cook were all different sizes and weight and were cooked at the same time all at once. Some lobsters ended up tasting overcooked. Overall, I might return but not right away. read more

Store is busy but very clean and the staff is always friendly. Only negative is that during the afternoons when it is a little bit slower there are generally not enough cashiers. read more

Whoa, hey! Why all the hate? Aint nothing wrong with Market Basket, even if it does resemble, kind of, a creepshow nightmare crazy tension-fraught congested scary dirty narrow Vietnamese (I think actually Cambodian) street full of physically-deformed throngs. That's just the local flair. Of course walking into a Market Basket isn't going to be the same as walking into a Whole Foods, but, honestly, I've seen worse Market Baskets. Once you get past the unappetizing industrial pastries that are continuously on sale in front of the entrance (which are actually cheap enough that I've been tempted to put one in my cart more than a few times, despite knowing they couldn't possibly mark much higher than "edible"), the food is pretty solid. I've never struck out with meat, which is always cheaper than the Shaw's I'm used to shopping at, and I've actually been remarkably impressed by the produce, in terms of both quality and selection, especially if you're interested in some ethnic (Latin/Asian) cuisines you might have difficulty outfitting elsewhere. Crowds = turnover = fresh. The only dingy produce I've seen is the stuff that gets put on the 1/2 off "Manager's special" "This stuff is about to expire" shelf. And who can argue with cash savings like that? I usually get there just before rush hour, so maybe I miss the huge terrible crowds, but I, for one, approve. If I had a complaint, it might be that they seem to be perpetually understaffed of baggers, which can slow down a line, but I usually just pitch in and bag a few groceries myself, and everything works out (a three-star worthy) A-OK. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service from a grocery store. This store in particular always has food go bad soon after you buy it. They yell at you when you're right. There was a price tag that was clearly marked incorrectly and the diary food manager yelled at me saying " you don't understand what you're reading". Where is the customer service? read more

Market Basket on Fletcher Street doesn't mark their aisle prices correctly if at all... I bought 1 loaf of white bread at $1.29 which I found out price at register.... When I looked at my sales receipt I could have purchased 2 loaves for $1.29!! This WAS NOT posted!!!! Unacceptable... other aisle items sldi were not priced so I didn't buy!!!!! read more

Several of the previous reviews of this grocery store reveal only the racist and otherwise prejudiced view of the authors. Apparently some people would prefer that people who are physically deformed have to attend a separate grocery store to their own? Perhaps we should make signs that say "normals only" and have separate water fountains also. Regardless of these ridiculous asinine comments, I haven't noticed that there is anything bizarre about the population that shops at the Fletcher St. Market Basket. In fact, I always find it heartwarming that, unlike the (self?-) segregation that we see in some other areas of Lowell, Market Basket attracts customers from every ethnic and economic group in the city. For example, professionals who work downtown and professors from UMass Lowell shop alongside single moms receiving food assistance...This is a positive part of the city and Market Basket should commended for the role they play in this, partly by offering a extremely diverse array of foods including ethnic foods of every kind as well as the slightly pricier health foods familiar to customers of Whole Foods or Trader Joes. There is something at Market Basket for everyone. I do agree that it can get very crowded but frustratingly, this is also true of the Whole Foods (whole paycheck) that I sometimes visit in Boston and of many other grocery stores...this isn't any great fault of Market Basket and neither does it prevent me from getting my grocery shopping done there. People are generally polite and willing to move out of the way when needed and even have a sense of humor about it (like when I had headphones on and I didn't notice that someone was trying to get by me). I especially like to pick up a discount item from the bakery whenever I go... read more

I like this place only because the meat here is fresh and usually cheap. Everything here is relatively cheaper than the stuff in Boston or other super markets like shaws or stop n shop. The customer service can be kinda.... average i guess. Usually i have to find the stuff myself or look for the stuff myself. If i cant find it, the employees usually cant find it either. However, if you do find it, it will usually be on sale or cheaper than other super markets you find elsewhere. I like coming here, but i need a car just to come here and ... walking here is takes a long long time... read more
