I typically only end up here with gift cards because besides the random ten or so favorites like strawberry mushroom smoothies, produce is below average. Aldi gives better value and quality on all items. There's no b-grade produce here which is disturbing to see corporations happy to price gouge consumers and ruin farmers excess. So tragic this country has no curb or control on waste or efficiency, the same goes for business policies. Employee treatment remains too low for the massive income generated each year. Walmart selection and brand options are overwhelming without being that well priced. Ice cream is especially obnoxious to see how little five bucks gets now. Night/closing staff is SO RUDE! I understand closing times are near, but you should not be yelling at people for shopping when it's clearly 30 minutes to closing. Absolute worst Walmart. I like to do curbside pickup on my way home because it's close but always have to wait past my pick up time frame. I scheduled ahead of time for anywhere between 3-4pm and didn't get them until 5:23pm after I went inside to the customer service desk. After I got them I was missing items from my order. I ordered a cake for my daughters graduation. I didn't like how much I was told the cake would cost after I picked it up because I didn't have any filling inside cake.. it was quoted the price he charged me for as if I did have filling inside the cake. The cake was higher than Sams Club.. next year I will definitely order early for my daughters graduation. The cake decorator was kinda nasty, and he made it like I was a bother to him ...he made you feel as tho you shouldn't question him or ask could he add more things to the cake. Your typical Wal-Mart..weekends and around certain holidays it's always gonna be a bit more crowded. One huge positive to this store is a long-time employee named "Sonu". She has told us she has been here almost 20 years and she is always so friendly, talkative, helpful, and just very jovial. She says she loves her job and we always go to her line when we see her here and have many times just engaged in small talk with her. Employees like this are rare, so thank you to Sonu and I am sure various other great employees we just simply may not be aware of. read more

I usually find what I need in this store - and it always costs less than grocery shopping at Target or Jewel. Employees are friendly and helpful, especially the pharmacy folks. Plus, the store is clean. FYI, they recently switched from a 24-hour store to 6:00 AM - 1:00 AM. They also have an order pickup option. The everyday price on a fresh loaf of French bread is $1. If you don't have a receipt don't worry they can give you store credit. Not unlike target at target you lost your receipt they will issue maybe not always refund but only at a lower or lowest price. I finally placed an order online for pickup, and I love it! How did I not try this before!?! I have a feeling it's going to be very popular in my household. I needed a ton of apartment necessities for my son who is getting his first college apartment with roommates on campus. It was my little gift to him as a sort of "send off." I placed my order (and wow, I didn't realize how cheap their stuff is), and chose a pickup date and time that worked for me. They emailed me when it was ready, and I showed up within the 1 hour window I chose. That's it. So easy! Leslie, a sweet, young lady came out with a cart, and crates filled with my grocery bags. I wasn't sure whether to help her load them into my car, or if she was supposed to do it, so I got out and helped. She said that people sometimes help, and sometimes don't. It's your preference. It would be great for families with tons of kids, who hate dragging them all inside to grocery shop. I soooo wish they had this when my son was young! read more

I had started feeling a little bit better about Walmart, St. Charles, and had begun shopping there again a little bit over the last month. Things were looking up with employees at the self-check out and front end being friendlier than they had been in many months. But last night, I went to Walmart St. Charles to shop for protein drinks and protein bars. While there, I was checking out product reviews on my phone. I finally gave up and didn't buy anything, because all of the products had too many artificial ingredients. As I walked away, I saw that I was being staked out by employee stocking shelves who had been pretty mean to me in the past. I can't believe the level of suspicion that is displayed if you want to read the labels, look at markdown products, or sometimes when you use self-check out in this store. In addition, if you have to type in a produce code at the self check out lines, the register enters the charge twice. I still find that if you ask an employee for help, especially in electronics, they may not have any idea about the things you need help with or may not care. In general, the St. Charles store often doesn't have the products that I want to buy, and the way they treat you can sometimes be very offensive. Starting to feel that I just go there out of habit, rather than in any hopes of having any positive shopping experience. As I've said before, I really wish this could be different. read more

You gave me a completely RANCID package of ground chicken. When I opened my trunk it smelled like someone took a dead barnyard animal and marinated in dumpster juice then coated it in feces. There is no way that not one of your employees didn't smell that and they gave it to me anyway. Then when I tried to call the store there's no answer at "customer service". I am not a big fan of this Walmart, and don't shop there often. When I do go in, it's usually for photos. You may not know this, but the Walmart photo department prints some of the sharpest, most colorful prints I've ever seen - they are significantly better than Walgreens' or Target's prints. You can upload your prints online and then pick them up in the store an hour later. Plus, they have the cheapest prices on 5x7s and 8x10s. If I was reviewing the prints alone, it would be a solid five stars. However, EVERY time I go to pick up prints, I can't find anybody working the photo counter. I usually have to wander the electronics department in search of an employee, who is inevitably trying to sell a laptop, Nubi or television to some other customer. I have to stand around, waiting for them to finish ringing up the other customer, before I can walk them back over to the prints counter to collect what I've ordered. How I wish they would just put the prints in some kind of cubbies or something where I could grab them myself! Or, simply put a bell at the photo counter so I don't have to walk up and down the aisles looking for an employee! The rest of the store is alright. As many people have stated, it's not as pleasant or bright as Target, and the layout is a bit strange. Still, it's now the only supermarket in the area that sells Stash Lemon & Ginger tea, a staple in our house! read more

I was looking for some earthworms with which to fish today. The website said this walmart had them. I asked two employees where they were located in the store. Both said "I don't know" and made no effort to find out. They were very apathetic. Not good customer service at all. I did find red worms after about 10 minutes of walking around. This is the wal-mart I go to for just about everything. I'm familiar with a lot of the team and everyone is usually very friendly. Today I went in with hopes of getting a money order as I have the past few months in an effort to pay my rent today. I had an expired ID, which to an extent is understandable when not accepting them, however, the state of illinois has extended expirations on IDs until October 1st due to covid and the difficulty in getting a new ID. I was ready to accept that it couldn't be done due to not physically having my ID with me (I just lost it at the airport) but I was not happy to hear a team leader tell me that it's not possible at all with an expired ID when I had another employee last month tell me the same thing but a supervisor stepped in to explain a procedure and get me the money order I needed. I attempted to ask about if maybe there was something else that could be done as I had just come to the same location the past 2 months for the same money order. I was met with no "our system can't do that". At this point I'm getting a bit annoyed but still fairly calm. I asked if maybe there was another supervisor I could speak to, to which I was told "I am the team leader over here". I manage a retail business myself and I understand unruly or disgruntled guests... I was not that and just wanted to be heard and not be met with "no it's not possible, our system can't do that". Clearly there is some procedure that the team leader was unfamiliar with. I would have accepted "I don't know that procedure" but telling me your system can't do something that it has done twice over the last 2 months is ridiculous and an insult to my intelligence. I don't have to work at Walmart to know an important part of dealing with an upset or concerned customer is showing empathy and ACTUALLY TRYING to help with the problem instead of brushing them off and essentially calling them a liar. Even if there truly is nothing you can do, customers appreciate genuine effort... especially when the team leader seems to be in a hurry to get back to chatting with other employees. I'm changing the review to 2 stars because at least the 1st employee showed she genuinely wanted to help with my issue read more

This store used to be much better only a few years ago. I go every Saturday to stock up. Not only are there shortages on many of shelf items but they are blocking the aisles with stockers on the busiest time of the week. What happened to stocking at night?! Friday August 2nd I bought a gallon of milk in Walmart - St. Charles location. I put the bottle on the floor in my car and I drove home for 26 miles. When I opened my car I saw the bottle with all the milk spilled out in my car, because of a I a big cut in the bottle. I think that the bottle was already damaged. I cleaned up my car and used several different products to remove the horrible smell inside. But the smell is still there, I talked with a car wash and they said my car needs a soap wash and the cost is about $80. I opened a claim and I only asked to Walmart to refund the internal car wash because I think that the quality of their milk gallon container is not good enough. They refused and they said there is not any damage to my car, but I think if I can't remove the smell can be considered a damage for asking a refund of the car wash to the store. I will never buy again something to the Walmart grocery in this store. read more

I LOVE WALMART. Especially this walmart. If you ask me where the milk is, duct tape, anything I can direct you right there. I am here at least twice a week. No joke I have so many memories. My friend and I will sit in the parking lot and have deep emotional talks. The cart pushers come by and I think the majority of them know us and they wave. I hated when they converted it into a super walmart. The place is so big now and sometimes its overwhelming. I don't know anything bad to say about this place. Bathrooms are always clean and well stocked. Every time I look around there is an employee willing to help. I miss the old blue bags with the smiley face wish they would bring them back. I am very particular about how I pack my groceries so having self checkout is a blessing. Weither I run in for just one thing or I make a whole trip I never leave disappointed. When I was 16 that Halloween I got my ears piereced here. The lady who duid them was so nice. Fun fact I learned that my ear lobes are not the same size. I made her redo the dot mark at least 5 times and she was more than happy too. Helped me pick out the earings I wanted and I still have them today. That was maybe 5 years ago. I guess room for improvement would have to be, get more flip flops. Im obsessed and can never find any. And if you read my previous review. They need to refine their ID process for alcohol. read more

My husband and I went to transfer money to Liberia, and the woman that was "working" spoke down to him like he was an idiot and didn't speak English...excuse me, English is his first language! We went to the children's area to pick some things up for our daughter and this woman who is apparently the customer service manager comes up to us and says "I hope you intend on paying for that?" I like this Walmart? I can't even make that a declarative statement, because the notion the I like a Walmart is cray. I have now visited this Walmart four times since it became "super", and let me tell you, the improvements are drastic. Each time I've visited, I've been expecting to leave disgruntled or disgusted. Not the case. The worst thing I've seen here was a half eaten Snickers bar on a shelf of Doritos. Compare that to the dude I caught wiping his boogers on the shelf in the cleaning supply aisle years ago, and I have to say, they've really turned the corner. The store is always very clean-- they have groceries but the produce is questionable and the selection of certain foods is very limited. I prefer to shop elsewhere for groceries, but compared to nearby Jewel, I think the prices here are better for the incidental items I have to pick up. They also have really good prices on cleaning/laundry items. I try to make my stops here quick, and I stick to the East side of the store (grocery/toiletries/cleaning supplies) but so far, so good. This is by far my favorite Walmart, which says a lot in my book. It's always clean and not terribly crowded, even on the weekend. read more

In general, I am a fan of Walmart. However, this location has frustrated me on a couple of occasions. It is rare that I go into a Walmart and the item I am looking for is out of stock. It has happened twice at this store. The first time, I was looking for an item in Electronics that the Walmart website said was in-stock at this store. The staff was friendly and helped me look for the item, but it wasn't on the shelf and the guy said if it wasn't on the shelf, they didn't have it in the stockroom. Today I was looking for a Walmart-brand allergy medication. It's been plentiful and in-stock at every Walmart I have ever been to, but not here. Also disappointing about this store was its lack of self-checkout. I thought about going to the Batavia Walmart, which I prefer, despite it not being a Super Walmart. However, I stopped here because I was nearby. Should've gone to Batavia. read more
