    Picking up my groceries
    Patricia R.

On the surface, this is your typical Walmart Supercenter, but go a little deeper and BAM! This Walmart has the pickup option, so that you never have to step foot inside! Yeeeeessssss!!! I can take advantage of Walmart prices and their great variety of products without ever again experiencing what it is to travel on foot miles upon miles, getting from one side of this behemoth to the other in search of toothpaste, detergent, a cheap sports bra and avocados. Yep, I'm serious. You can place your order on their app, choose a pickup time, drive up when your order is ready and someone comes out of the side door - magically, it seems - WITH ALL OF YOUR STUFF!!!! ITS ALL THERE!! They pull the rolling cart to your car, load you up, and you are back on your way. I've ordered groceries 3 times now and it's been a dream. It seems I've had a substitution on each visit. Yesterday they were out of their brand of a 1/2 gallon of skim milk, so they substituted a whole gallon. Substitutions are usually better, and the price remains the same. If you love Walmart, but can't handle what it means to enter the store, USE THE PICKUP OPTION!! It's a life changer.

Conveyor belt. Spills on top of spills. Dried up spills. Wet spills. Nasty.

I doubt anyone at Wal-Mart is interested in this review based on the current number of stars. But for all of the potential customers, I guess I will add this bad review to the rest of the batch. I was just there on Monday afternoon. I got a few things and when it was time to check out, I noticed that there were more than plenty self check out registers available near the entrance closest to the Philly Cheesesteak restaurant. I don't work there, they are not offering discounts, so I pressed on looking for a shortish line with a human employee. I saw two open lines and one potentially open line. The first two lines were longer than I appreciated and the potentially open line had only one customer and no light welcoming more so I just kept it pushing. After reaching the other end of the store and seeing way too many more self check outs, I made a U turn with my cart and conceded to wait in one of the long lines. I considered getting into the potential line but figured the lady, Charisse, I'm quite sure is what her name tag said, was not taking anymore customers. So I waiting in the longish line behind a diligent young lady who had more customers than you could shake a stick at waiting patiently for their turn. As Charisse, the cashier on the same aisle (register #2 I'm sure it was), finished her lone customer, I imagine someone either inquired or she beckoned for someone to come her way because suddenly there was a bunch of chatter in my line and people began heading her way. I joined the exodus and took my place in Charisse's line. A few long minutes later when it was almost my turn, there was an entire repeat of what I just experienced. People who were in line waiting on the cashier who should get a raise, someone asked if Charisse was accepting new customers. I did the right thing and I asked Charisse she said yes. So I told the person who asked. Then I asked Charisse if her light was working and she told me yes but she doesn't want it to work. I repeated that too, to the person who had taken their place in line behind me. Charisse did not bother to turn her light on and I really felt sorry for the other cashier who cared enough to do most of the work while Charisse half-you know what-ed through her shift. That's right....pass your neglect of job duty on to the customers and make their wait longer than it should be. So there's that. Next, I am not sure who has the job of keeping the belt clean at the registers. I don't know if it is the person who is working the register or there is someone who comes around and sprays and wipes. What I recall seeing in the past, is the person who is working the register grab a spray bottle and a roll of paper towels and clean up spills, wet spots, etc. Anyway, the belt at Charisse's register was disgusting. I took pictures. With all of the different viruses going around, we can't afford to be negligent and allow bacteria to grow right before our eyes. In addition to the gross conveyor belt, I noticed several buckets placed around the store catching water falling from the ceiling. Finally, don't bother ordering online and picking up from this store. No organization whatsoever. It's a free for all. No need to act civilized and call the number on the sign or use the app to check in. You basically have to get out of your car and nag or pay someone to assist you. If you want to order online and pick up, do that at the Wal-Mart on Veteran's. They are only professionals when it comes to that. I've tried them all and that is the only place I will go for that. This place got one star because of the wonderful cashier who was actually working and had a pleasant countenance the entire time. Oh and because I couldn't give zero.

I mainly go just to buy fruit but I took pictures of other things they had. It's more like a healthier grocery boutique by a German based company. I will say that I have noticed at different stores, the prices are drastically different per demographic areas. For example, I went to the store on Vets in Metairie and a family pack of chicken legs (drumsticks) was only $5 and some change. I went to the store in Algiers and they didn't offer the family pack of the same item, only 1/4 pack and the price was close to $6. I went to the Gretna store and their prices matched Vets prices. Very odd. In all the stores, I've been to, there's always one cashier and no self checkout stations except in Marrero. Overall, it's a pretty good place to shop for certain items but you're certainly not going to find your beloved Cajun foods or spices here.

I usually come here for toiletries, and I appreciate that they have plenty of self-checkout lanes, which makes getting in and out much faster. Customer service is surprisingly efficient as well. Overall, it's Walmart but a solid one with a good selection of everything you need.

Apparently scanning those trays costs more and that's just the display boxes. Since we were buying so many to feed 7 cats. She was too lazy to scan each can and was all I need to get the manage because we aren't supposed to be selling there separately. Well then why is it you stock them? Why is it that they scan properly with a price and let us check out. Why is it we can order singles online for pickup or delivery? The manager came over and entertained the asshole cashier and said she would go check. Walked off and came back less than a minute later so I know she didn't go all the way by the pet food because she knew it was the cashier being stupid but didn't want to argue with her that it's clearly a sold item at the store. Don't know if she was planning on buying some of these because they were discounted or what but she should scan the barcode on the product, take payment and goto the next customer not try to start problems with the customers. If I went up there with anything else in a box and said here scan the box they would want to scan every item separately to make sure nothing was mixed in that was hidden. Walmart really should evaluate when employees do this. And that manager should have made a note on the situation to her management to look into this employee. Home Depot had an employee try this and called the police because the upc scanned what the cashier thought was too cheap to allow it to be sold. They had a huge settlement over it and that employee sadly is still working at the store along with the manager who took sides with the cashier.
