Alright, if…read moreyou've never read the book, Because of Winn-Dixie, you definitely wouldn't understand my reference, but if you did read it good for you. Now the book and the store doesn't have any relations. When I think of off-chain grocery stores, I don't expect for them to be much more expensive than big-box chains. I expect for them to be cheap or close to reasonable pricing. To compare: this store is equivalent to United Supermarket, Food Town, Foodarama, Seller Brothers, even Walmart. Just because Walmart is just too high. Tell me why packets of fish, all the fish are $7.99. Yes, due to me not able to get ham or even pork chops on Christmas, I wanted to eat fish. Everything has .99 after it, that's not even legit cents, but rather a full dollar amount more. Even HEB is cheaper than this place. I love HEB, but unfortunately, HEB can only be in Texas and some parts of TX. My mum and I visited this store on Christmas Eve and tell me why the whole store was had people everywhere because everybody is last minute or their plans got canceled. No big deal right, wrong---this store is equivalent to Walmart on another level because of the people of Walmart (http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/) has migrated to the people of Winn-Dixie. Without any filter, thanks now my eyes are scarred for life. Enter at your own risk, you've been warned!

I mainly go just to buy fruit but I took pictures of other things they had. It's more like a healthier grocery boutique by a German based company. I will say that I have noticed at different stores, the prices are drastically different per demographic areas. For example, I went to the store on Vets in Metairie and a family pack of chicken legs (drumsticks) was only $5 and some change. I went to the store in Algiers and they didn't offer the family pack of the same item, only 1/4 pack and the price was close to $6. I went to the Gretna store and their prices matched Vets prices. Very odd. In all the stores, I've been to, there's always one cashier and no self checkout stations except in Marrero. Overall, it's a pretty good place to shop for certain items but you're certainly not going to find your beloved Cajun foods or spices here.

Some can be very orderly, with an adequate amount of associates ready to assist. While other departments look as if there hasn't been a shipment of products delivered in months. The Walmart Supercenter of Metairie, LA is no exception. I went here to pick up my favorite cough drops. In Louisiana it seems like right after Christmas, they are ready for their big holiday, Mardi Gras. There were multiple isles with all types of purple, green and gold decorations, for your face or your place. The beauty isles were not looking good. It's like an abandoned zombie apocalypse just happened. At this Walmart they have their own pharmacy and vision center, in addition to the rest of the madness. You can also rent a movie on Redbox. I found my Fisherman's Friend cough drops and I was on my way. A Walmart is a Walmart is a Walmart. If you know one, you know them all.
