Gross aF moldy bread! Check your shelves once a month! Jesus Christ.
Joshua M.

Purchased bread in here yesterday. Got it home and had a few slices. Just noticed bottom half has mold all over it! Will NEVER shop at this store again. It's basically a ghetto Whole Foods with Whole Foods prices and a disgusting hot bar.

Just found this place and love it so far. Prices actually lower than the big chain "inflation" prices. I walk there but there's tons of of parking. Love the hot plate options.

Green solanine taters.

Oh, Breaux Mart... *shakes head* Are you trying to poison your customers? You do know that green potatoes are toxic, right? They contain a substance called solanine which, while not lethal in small amounts, can still cause significant digestive upset and worse. Yet you guys proudly display your bright green taters, all cheerfully wrapped in individual microwave-safe plastic. Not cool, y'all. Perhaps it's time to hire a new produce guy, someone who's actually familiar with the stock and what is and isn't acceptable to feed to consumers? Just a thought. Aside from the potato travesty, this seems like a fine market, and I would probably shop here if I lived nearby. There's a salad bar, a nice bakery/deli with good deals on cupcakes, all the standard dry and grocery items, etc. Shampoo is cheaper than across the street at Walgreen's, too. It's perfectly serviceable if you need to restock some basics.

Breaux Mart is the perfect neighborhood grocery store. Conveniently located on magazine, they have everything you need from fresh produce to beer and liquor and everything in between. Staff there have always been friendly and helpful! 10/10 stars!!! Highly recommend it!

Formerly an A&P, the Magazine branch of Breaux Mart has come along quite a way since then. Product: A decent selection of typical grocery items, Breaux Mart is more like a traditional market than more recent "big box" stores with every exotic foodstuff under the sun. This chain, and this store in particular, focuses mainly on locally sourced goods with a smattering of widely available products one might find at any grocery, pharmacy, convenience store, or big box such as Target or Walmart. Where I find Breaux Mart excels is their deli. There are usually specials on meat cuts, so be on the lookout. Probably the cheapest place I've found pork chops or roast in the area when they are on special, and none of that tricky "2-for-1" business like Winn-Dixie. (3 stars) Service: One of my biggest rubrics for service is how long employees have been there. They longer they've been there, the better trained they usually are and more competent they are. The staff here, on the whole, has had very little turnover over the years. I lived for a long while in the Garden District and Irish Channel, and many of the employees I became acquainted with outside of their work. (4 stars) Facilities" Although the basic building has not changed on the exterior, past new paint and signage, the innards and parking lot have had major overhauls. ***NOTE***: Do not try to park here unless you are a customer of the grocery, and only when you are shopping--they will have you towed, as this is the busiest stretch (between Washington and Louisiana) of Magazine street. The is a private, walled parking lot well-maintained. Aisles have not appreciably changed over time, but the inside has been well-renovated. (3 stars) Overall: A decent grocery to go to if you live in the area that is specifically a grocery and nothing fancy like Rouse's or Whole Foods. I would call it a good local option over Winn-Dixie. (3 stars)

THEY'RE PAINTING A NEW MURAL! On the Toledano side of the store, from an original design depicting "making groceries in early New Orleans."

WOW CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE WORKS! After an intense campaign that tactically began with a blatant refusal to surrender my belongings, then 3 emails, 1 handwritten letter and 2 phone calls to the main office...the ban on backpacks is finally lifted! SO GLAD I DIDN'T HAVE TO LIGHT MYSELF AFIRE in their parking lot to accomplish it.

Rude employees, incredibly high prices. Only shop here in a pinch and wouldn't recommend anyone shop here.

Convenient but be prepared to pay $2-$3 extra on every item vs other grocers. Not really worth it.

Great neighborhood grocery store, they have everything in a small compact space with a decent parking lot and a security guard.

Central Grocery & Deli - Original Muffuletta Sandwich

The line stretched to the door, but we were out and headed to Jackson Square with our sandwich in less than 20 minutes. (So much better than sitting in the deli!). Inside you'll find a few spaces to eat your sandwich, with some chairs. The dining space is kind of an afterthought. Definitely take it to go and watch some street musicians. The bread holds up to the cold cuts and olive tapenade. We ordered 1.5 sandwiches and didn't even crack open the half sandwich, 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and one kid. We also shared a pistachio cheesecake, which was delicious. I'd eat this sandwich any day. So. Good.

I…read morenever ever write reviews because I believe they hurt small businesses and feeds the egos of the ignorant, but that being said this place pissed me the fuck off with their service. I come to central deli whenever I'm with someone not from New Orleans due to the fact their muffuletta is quintessential! I would like to reiterate nothing was wrong with the food , great food purely with the lady taking orders. I got a classic half muffuletta and a "glass" San pellegrino. The lady then told me open glass is prohibited in New Orleans , I retorted with "o really I didn't know that , since when?" Before I could finish The lady then yelled with "SINCE FOREVER, IM SORRY YOUVE BEEN TO BAD BARS WHERE THEY SERVE YOU GLASS ITS BEEN ILLEGAL SINCE THE 50s" which isn't true the city changed the law in 2001. She then proceeded to open my glass bottle even though I told her I didn't want it open, so I the asked if I could get another one since she was in rage mode and didn't understand that she just contradicted herself. As I asked for the second San Pellegrino, she then takes the first one and goes "NO PROBLEM THANKS FOR THE FREE DRINK", and starts to drink the San Pellegrino infront of me as I check out, making thirst quenching noises like "AHH". As I leave she can't help but remind me for her free drink again. I'm pretty sure the management witness this whole situation and I hope they do something about, that lady doesn't realize what hospitality is and needs to be fired. I did nothing to her and I bet I wasn't the first she has blow up on. But in my eyes absolutely unacceptable.

During the first week of January, my lifelong friend visited Plush Appeal to purchase Mardi Gras decor for her out of state home. We are natives of New Orleans and were raised with the proper etiquette and respect for ourselves, others and community. We are proud graduates of an affluent Catholic high school and our class of women has made quite a positive impact in this world collectively. With that said, as my friend was shopping she interacted with one of the sales associates and had a lovely conversation. This particular sales associate then left the area. Within minutes two other sales associates approached my friend, accused her of stealing, and when my friend attempted to clear her name and prove her innocence, these women refused. They stated she was on camera and despite my friend asking multiple times for proof and to view the cameras, she was again refused her request. Apparently, two large men were then instructed to escort her out to which she stated she felt extremely uncomfortable. Several of her friends have reached out to the store. Ms. Vee was so nice! CeeCee though ... the manager... when I called to ask for clarification she became nasty and hung up. Long story short, nothing was stolen. If that were the case why not call the police or show the video? Most importantly to note are the differences in skin tones. My friend is an upper class African American female who was seemingly targeted for the color of her skin. Take your business elsewhere!
