Look, I know what I'm getting into when I go to Walmart on Yale, and yet, like some kind of retail masochist, I keep coming back. Why? Because they have the stuff I need at prices that don't make me cry. Do I hate every second of it? Absolutely. The employees? They don't know, they don't care, and they certainly aren't going to pretend otherwise. Asking a question is just setting yourself up for disappointment. But hey, at least they check receipts at the door, which weirdly doesn't bother me at all. I'm not stealing anything, so knock yourself out. Frankly, I prefer it to the free-for-all at HEB, where people just casually walk out with unpaid carts like it's some kind of "Take What You Need" community market. My real complaints: 1. Makeup is locked up like it's the crown jewels. I refuse to play the waiting game just to buy mascara, so I've given up. 2. Curbside is a test of patience. Yesterday, I waited 25 minutes. At that rate, I should've just gone in, suffered through the store, and picked my own cat food. 3. The cakes are awful. Don't do it to yourself. When you get home, the frosting will literally just fall off! 4. The wine selection is depressing. But that's on me for expecting better from Walmart. I would be careful about getting cell service here. I went there today after coming the day to see about getting a Straight Talk plan and phone. An employee told me that the people who handle that are there from noon to 3 or 4 PM everyday. I showed up and a shit show ensued. I go up to the counter and mind you, there's promotional material for all the major service carriers, as well as Straight Talk, at the counter and in the immediate area. I ask one rep about the current holiday promo that Straight Talk is running with a qualifying plan. He offers me an AT&T special, which I turned down since I just left them due to their horrible billing. I talk to the other rep and she claimed not to know about it or even about Straight Talk period. She starts talking about Verizon. I had to explain to her that Cricket is under AT&T, Metro is under T-Mobile, and Straight Talk is under Verizon despite her being a damn employee and with signs literally in their faces! Sensing bullshit afoot, I walked away and ran into the same employee that told me the hours yesterday and asked her if the reps were here and she pointed to the people I spoke to already. We came to the Garden Center looking for all kinds of industrial strength pesticides to kill some of the things that are on the grounds around the house where we lived. It didn't work out too well because the person working here wasn't able to really help or guide us, and most of what they have here are not the safe poisons but the really scary poisons or the ones that don't work at all. I came to Walmart with a very specific mission - tree decorations. I must say, there were plenty of looks to choose from. In the end, I made my choice with red plaid look. There was enough supplies of what I need that I didn't have to go elsewhere. While this location is often busy, I found my experience quite pleasant and my check out was a quick one. I have never been treated so poorly while trying to spend a significant amount of money at store before in my life. No one was capable of completing my purchase or offering an explanation as to why. I feel as though the employees there were discriminating against me (although I have no idea why). I had been getting my prescription here for about 8 months and every month it was something, they always had some issue or I would be told one thing by one person and something incredibly different by another, the pharmacist cancelled my prescription because she didn't want to fill it one month thankfully the other pharmacist didn't have as much of a stick up his ass and filled it, if the female pharmacist is working just hang up and wait for the male pharmacist to be on duty. I promise it'll be easier but still I just recommend you find another pharmacy like I did! I switched to a locally owned pharmacy because why put more money in Walmarts pockets when they are going to treat me like absolute crap or a criminal for needing medication. This is one of those astonishingly clean walmarts that make you wonder, could all walmarts be this neat and organized. Last year I drove here to find some gardening tools and they said that people have been buying those since Harvey and they can't keep up with the demand. Like dude, you're literally walmart, you guys have insane fights over your POs just to keep your supplies afloat. Once again last night I came here to buy some zip ties and they only had the transparent ones and all the other ones (primarily was looking for the black ones) were out of stock. But when you look for them online, it shows that they carry them. Tsk tsk. Like most other Walmart stores, this one is hot garbage. The level of ineptitude in this location is off the chain, though. Like most other American households, in 2021, we regularly receive grocery deliveries from Amazon, Target, and other grocers. We rarely shop at Walmart other than to purchase a particular drain clog remover that we can't seem to find easily at other stores. So, I went online, last night, and placed a delivery order with Walmart for the first time ever. I ended up order more than just drain cleaner and our order came out to almost $150.00. This afternoon, I received a text advising my order was on the way and that the delivery driver was roughly 3 minutes away. I went downstairs to await the driver's arrival. No one ever showed up. No one ever called. A few minutes later, I received a message stating that my items had been delivered and it even included a picture claiming my items had been placed on the street. I went to the street and found absolutely nothing. This order was not delivered. I immediately proceeded to call Walmart, repeatedly, and no one would pick up. So, I got into my car and drove to the store to speak with someone in an effort to rectify the problem. When I first entered the store, I explained my problem to a nearby associate, Mrs. Cherry, and asked where to go for help. She proceeded to radio two or three people, in the pickup and delivery department, who all wanted nothing to do with the problem. Next, I'm passed off to another associate who is allegedly going to help. He listens to the issue and, in summary, says I need to call Walmart's customer service number and tell them what happened. While I'm talking to this guy, Steven (who I'm told is one of the managers over deliveries) comes out and sees me standing there yet goes out of his way to avoid talking to me. Extremely frustrated at this point, I head to the front of the store and am on my way out when Mrs. Cherry says Steven is heading up front to talk to me. When Steven comes up front he gives me the same sad story of how I need to call customer service and how he's just so frustrated with the driver. NOT ONCE did Steven offer to rectify the problem. I don't think I've ever dealt with anyone as intellectually stunted as Steven. He has zero business working with customers. So, listen up Walmart!! At about 4:43pm, I received an email stating that my order was in "delayed" status. At 6:20pm, I canceled my order because no delivery was made. Poor customer service on the part of Walmart. I was ordering birthday invitations from the photo center. I'd have preferred to have ordered from a Walmart closer to my home but, for some reason, they weren't showing as an option in the order. That's okay, I was spending the day at the zoo and could pick up my 1-Hr order on the way home. Two hours AFTER my order was promised to be ready, I called to check and was left on hold for TWENTY-FIVE minutes. Ridiculous. I walked into the store to the photo center and the two young ladies working the desk looked like they had no idea what was going on. They said the printer wasn't working right, the invitations had strange stripes and were blurry. They said I could either take them or not (at full price). At this point, I just needed the GD invitations so yeah, let's go. One of them then takes about 10 minutes to cut the invitations. She hands them to me, without envelopes. I inquired about the envelopes (kind of an important aspect of invitations). She said they only had three that fit. What. The. Eff. I went to customer service and asked to speak with a manager. The woman who said she paged someone then told me to "go wait in the corner" so you're not blocking the counter. Excuse me? There was NO ONE else in the Customer Service area and how dare you tell me to stand in the corner, like I did something wrong? The technology manager was able to find some envelopes (way too big) but at this point, I just want to get the heck out of there. 0/10 stars, do not recommend. read more
