I love the nostalgia factor of this gigantic, three story department store parked right in the middle of downtown Lawrence. My most recent trip was to scout out tux rentals and they could not have been more helpful. They were priced better than others I'd met with, and were friendly and on the ball. Definitely looking forward to sending the groomsmen here later on this year. I then spent some time shopping afterwards and they have some very cool things, albeit some of them are pretty high end. They have customized Jayhawk/Southern Tide shirts, well crafted dress shirts & polos, and some awesome KC Royals belts filling the guys section. The ladies would love this store the most though as it spans multiple floors of various options. They don't make many like this anymore, but I'm glad Weaver's is still going strong!

I admit I do enjoy the experience! I understand this isn't for everybody and I also realize some folks would feel they may not get the same treatment. I think that's something important to acknowledge in reality and something I hope Von Maur takes very seriously. I did note that they offer an interest free card and that is incredible and unheard of these days! I didn't think to look but I really hope they offer a layaway plan as well. And hopefully for a very small fee since some folks may not qualify for credit but would still like to buy a nice gift for someone. I absolutely signed up for the interest free card. This is very smart of this company because they will get your business but not charge you absorbent interest! Refreshing! I did enjoy my couple of hours there. Not being from the Midwest, I had never heard of Von Maur but I wondered in because I was curious!. It's very lovely and they had decorated for the holidays. Unfortunately, I did not see a live piano player on the first floor but the piano was there and they had lovely piano music throughout the store. They have numerous departments with many fine offerings in apparel, cosmetics, accessories, and more. I didn't see any home goods which I would have enjoyed as well but it's not a huge store. I'm not sure if that's offered at any other location but maybe 1 day, it'll be added. I also wish they had a larger selection of petites but at least they have that section! Let's talk about price... There are a lot of mid range (nice but not outrageous) designer brands. You can easily spend over $100 on a pair of jeans or $200 on a dress or coat. BUT, they also have sales (I saw a lot of 30% off on some brands) and they have sale racks with markdowns. By wondering around I figured out there's 2 levels of sales racks. One is a first mark down. Here you'll find the $160 jeans for $80-$125 (as an example), but there's also a second section of mark down racks in the departments (usually 2-3 racks) with a second mark down. Here I found a $120 dress for $35 as an example. I think while it's definitely a more expensive, luxury brand place, there are some more budget friendly options. Everything I bought that night was on sale. AND I found a pen mark on a dress I really wanted that was on double mark down. The incredibly nice sales lady in the department walked the dress all the way upstairs to the alterations department and they all tried to get the mark out for me. She was equally attentive to me as a customer buying a $35 dress as one that cost $200. Even when she could not get the mark out, she helped me decide on another one from the sales rack that was also $35. I really loved that and when I need that $200 dress, I'll go back to Von Maur and when I want to have fun buying a few super sale dresses, pants, etc, I'll also go back to Von Maur because they valued me no matter what my budget was that night! I wish I had gotten her name. Just in case, she was around 5'3-5'4, shoulder length blonde hair, and was wearing a cute set from the store which I want to go back and get now. lol she was working in the downstairs juniors and women's department area on the night of 11/29/25. She is great! Make sure you treat her well! All the sales associates I encountered were terrific. Another one helped me open my interest free card. We closed down the store that night but were never made to feel as if we had to rush out even though we were respectful and paid and left right after they closed. Then I bought some of those funky Oreo cookies. deep fried Oreos and chicken and waffles Oreo's they both were very nasty, Made me sick. They too sent me coupons, 2 of them for each package. Came up to 5.59 each one. So, I got all the coupons from the two. I went to Price Chopper in Excelsior Springs, Mo. To use the coupons for my Oreo cookies I wanted and potato chips. The check out was packed they only had 1 register going. So, I asked the service counter if I could check out there. The woman who I found out was service counter manager. Yes, I could but she said it check out there. Well, I told her my plan about paying for the chips and cookies with a coupon. I handed her the coupon she started asking me the 24-question game. All the time flipping them over several times. Then she asked me where I got them. I said Frito-Lay sent them to me and so did Oreo. They had their names wrote all over them the coupons did. They even looked official, as they were. She asked me if I purchased them. I said no. Then she had to nerve to asked me if I printed them off the answer was no again. I was getting pretty upset she kept fumbling with them and said she had to asked someone to see if they could take them. I was really upset by then. i said gave those I am going someplace else. I walked out with groceries in their cart. She did say they have been getting a lot of fake coupons, but anyone with half a brain could tell they were official coupons. She just did not want to deal with me or the coupons. I was polite until the last minute or two. I bought what I need at another place no questions asked. I came home fuming and called the store I got ahold of the woman she remembers me. I asked for the cooperate number I heard her fumbling around again. I told her i was going to make a complaint. We said a few a words. that is when I found she was the service desk manager. She told my whatever floated my boat. Go ahead and make the complaint. I hung on her. This is not the first time I complain about this store, the manager insulted me a few back. He was a Mexican guy at the time.
