That being said, the snazziness hides some of its glaring issues. First of all, it is hard to find more obscure items, if they have them at all. For example, I searched high and low for hazelnuts but it was in vain. Also, I find the aisle organization odd. School supplies same aisle as cereal? Lastly, I wish there were more Kansas City products, like Roasterie or Parisi coffee and Farm to Market Bread. I do think that Price Chopper is a great addition to St. Joe (and a bit jealous... What I first…read morenoticed the moment I walked into to the Hy-Klas store, is that it's incredibly clean - every aisle is as neat as a pen, all the products perfectly faced, the glass cooler cases sparkle, and the floors are as clean as can be. The prices are competitive, especially if you shop the sales in their flyer - I compared some of the items I commonly buy to the prices at the big chain store in Smithville, and Hy-Klas was no higher. It's a family-owned store, which I prefer, especially to the new DG market down the street in Lathrop, that is owned by Citi group corporations headquartered in NYC (go compare some of their prices - the DG market prices their Jergens lotion almost double the price of Target). The employees are friendly and helpful at Hy-Klas, and I liked that they always take time to visit with their elderly customers. Hy-Klas Foods reminds me of the local grocery stores my family use to shop at when I was growing up. There's also a Hy-Klas Foods in Gower as well. which is just as clean, sparkling, and friendly as the one in Lathrop.

This store unfortunately, does not have a good layout or flow. The store is very congested, and as…read moresuch people are always having to stop and wait on each other, the front entrances are very congested. The customers because of this usually are very rude and hateful towards each other. I've noticed whenever I shop here I encounter some extremely rude people, and it's making me not want to come to this Hy-Vee location. The parking lot is a horrible disarray, there are way too many Tesla chargers for the number of Teslas that you actually see here. There are two rows of chargers and during peak times you may see 3 to 4 Teslas in the parking lot. These are taking up spots that other cars could use, and causing excess congestion. The Tesla chargers should have been pushed to the end of a lot instead of right smacked in the center where people like to park. I don't think I can shop at the store without getting extremely frustrated, which is a shame because there are some nice people here. Also, I think that their prices sometimes are better than the other stores, but the frustration that comes with coming onto their property far out way as any of the benefits from shopping here.
