Walmart in Harbison Irmo,SC I see a lot of negative Yelp reviews here regarding customer service but we have not seen this ourselves. We only come here for groceries every so often mainly at night. The Harbison locale is high traffic at peak times so we avoid unneeded headaches as this. Our last trip I noticed that the grocery section layout has changed since last we were inside which could have been 4 years since date of this review now. A lot of Walmarts are set up the same inside but this location is better IMO. There are only slight location differences of the alcohol and bread. There is a meat Deli at the back between milk and cheese. At the front is the bakery counter surrounded by a large assortment of fresh made choices. The biggest change is how much wider the aisles feel, I forgot to include the pic, but they are comparable to Sam's Club in width. The produce section also feels larger, idk if there is more or just appears. The negative I do see is the check-out set up. There is only one self-checkout section, where most other Walmarts we've been to there are two active on opposite ends of store. Also the self check entry is just a straight line not a large area where customers can disperse and not have long lines extending into clothing aisles. The self check is also 15 item max so big grocery trips will have you with one of two active human cashiers on night we went. The store has improved the grocery section layout dramatically. If more self-check kiosks can be sprinkled throughout and active cashiers the score could drastically improve. read more

This is truly a great Walmart! In fact, I didn't even know that they had Walmarts this nice in South Carolina! The store was clean, the shelves were well-stocked, and they had all of my favorite generic brand items. I realized why shopping at the Harbison Wal-Mart leaves me with so much money in my wallet afterwards. It could be that everything I came to buy was...not there! First looked for ac filters. Then for reasonably priced toilet seats. Next, a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts and finally a pack of sanding discs. Just look at my pictures and discover why I left with no flter or toilet seat. The doughnut display and the product had no prices and I had to get refund for the sanding discs because the shelf tag indicated $3.88 and rang up $7.87...all customer service did was ask how I wanted my refund, not looking into the matter. Therefore, upon leaving I had a LOT of money left in my pocket! Yes, Wal-Mart saves customers money... Truth in Advertising at its best. read more

I am at a loss for how this place is still in business. It's not even a store because you can't buy anything. I had an online order delivered, spent 30$ for some home supplies and they sent me a can of soup and some chips. Called the store, and they asked for photos of the order online. Complained the images were blurry then hung up. Had another order redirected to be delivered from here without my consent, asked for a refund after a week because they never delivered anything as expected, never got it refunded. Lost 60$. Now on to the actual store. For YEARS it's been famous for long lines, but it's deeper than that. I came in for one thing. I stood on my phone trying to do online checkout to see if I could buy the item on Amazon. There were over 50 people in line, and they stood there for OVER AN HOUR. didn't move. Several employees walked by. One on his phone, doing nothing. One carrying a broom who said and I quote "not dealing with that, no lord, you can forget that." ... SO WHY ARE YOU GETTING PAID? There's barely anything on the shelves, there's TONS of workers but only 2 as cashiers, and even then it takes them an hour to check out ONE PERSON. This place is the ghetto, and it's not even considered a store BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER BUY ANYTHING. read more

A nicer neighborhood compared to the one a couple of exits further south. That is, once you get through the various barriers and one-way parking lot lanes to get to the door. Getting out is even worse. I hate that crap. Calm down! Ommmmmmmmmmm... Ah, Wal-Mart. Haven of inexpensive consumer goods. I needed one thing today and found it easily. The worst Walmart I've ever been in. We go out of our way to go into a different store because first of all the self checkout line is basically all you so it has a line going basically to the back of the store. It's not clean seems like nobody works so I'm assuming they definitely don't clean. They need to hire new management or shut down. read more

I hate trashing stores and staying things that are already known but this right here is BEYOND ridiculous. After lines stretch to the back of the store, they then decide to open self checkout. So we decide to go to electronics, which also has a long line but it is moving. Once we check out and get to the front of the store, we see that even though the lines have diminished and more cashiers are open the people we were behind we just getting to the register. I am so frustrated because had my child not desperately needed a charger I could have been like everyone else and just left. I chose this Walmart because typically I get better service BUT lately???? Someone needs to inform Walmart that just because they are super mega and have SOME lower prices (when they have the decency and take the time to properly label things) does not mean that they can continuously shortchange their customers and even their employees. read more

If I could give this store zero stars, I would!! 3 checkouts open out of - how many do they have?? 20+??? It's ridiculous when more time is spent standing in line than spent shopping! When much of the population is panic buying due to the media coverage of this Corona virus, can't they see they need to bring in more cashiers? Common sense! Get with it, Walmart! Who likes bad costumer service? I can tell you, I sure don't! Chatondra on aisle 6, was clearly irritated by having to work tonight, & even though she didn't speak a single word to me (no, not even to give me my total) the look on her face spoke volumes. She did however, pull out her cell phone to text instead of telling me my total. So, in not one of my finer moments, I head over to costumer service to "speak to a manager", that too, was a waste of time. it's ridiculous how you can have three Walmart greeters on their phones, no cashiers, and only a few self check out open. Unfortunately, this is a very common occurrence. Every time I've been here I have had to wait 30 minutes in line or more. Luckily, there was someone in customer service that I had less than 10 items. Would not recommend. read more

I know, it's Walmart but even for a Walmart this has to be one of the worst I've been to. Parking lot is always overflowing with carts no matter the time. Trash everywhere. Pan handlers every five feet. Employees who look miserable and for the most part treat you as an inconvenience. If you go late at night or early in the morning you will have no choice but to use self checkout, the one employee over there won't even acknowledge your existence! Poor inventory. Driving through Columbia I decided to take a quick break to pick up a couple of items. Wal-Mart had what I needed at a good price and I was back on the road. I interacted with two employees inside and neither was especially friendly. By contrast the fellow greeting customers at the east entrance was very friendly; we chatted briefly on my way in and out of the store. I'd be pleased to shop here again. read more

Scheduled a pick up for 6-7. The app said they are behind and they will let me know when it's ready. I Arrived at 6:25 waiting for the app to say ready since i was scheduled 6-7. Talked to a couple of employees that said it might be ready 15-20 mins and they will keep an eye out for my order. Finally left at 8:27 with no groceries. At 10:24 the app says my order is ready. Three stars for a Wal-Mart? Yes, please. I was here during Hurricane Matthew- because I'm a coastal person who evacuated. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean this store was, and I was shocked by how well stocked it was given the storm mentality in SC. Although there were a lot of people in the store, those working the cash registers were quick and efficient. I'm not sure if folks were just being kind because of the storm, but this was an unusually good Wal-Mart experience for me. read more

Even on slow nights that done care about their checkout lines. No consistency what so ever. Long lines in slow nights every time. I'm leaving a 5-star review for Walmart! I have boycotted Walmart for years. I went in after midnight and needed to get something from electronics. The woman who was there went out of her way to be helpful and even offered to get the rest of the things in the grocery cart when I checked out. I said that I had to grab boxes, and she then said she could help me get them from the people who were restocking. I'm not sure if this is a fluke or if Walmart is trying to be better at customer service, but this associate really went out of her way to be helpful. I was blown away. read more

This review will include my last two visits, both in Sept. 2020. On a recent trip, a woman got something for me from the top shelf and even did a price check with a smile! On that visit, the cashier was also very pleasant and actually gave me a total without my having to ask and the wait was only a few people. Miracle, I guess. If it was just that, I could give the store a much better rating, however the bathroom in the back of the store, the janitor cart blocked the entrance. So I shopped that area and went back, 20 minutes later and the janitor cart was still blocking the door. This past Sunday, I was appalled when I went in the front bathroom and the trash was overflowing by the sinks and there was no tp in the stall, which fortunately I had checked before using. This past Sunday's visit the self-serve line was thirty people long and extended past the entryway and into the veg dept. All the cashier stations were open and all the lines were at least 9 carts/people long, had I been by myself, I would have left. We were in line 42 minutes. The cashiers were being changed out, they just change the person, no waiting for that. I was the cashier's first customer and she was pleasant, despite walking into a huge line. I did notice that some lanes didn't have 6 ft markers. All the cashiers were wearing their face masks and they had them on the correct way. These stars were earned by the cashiers and the woman that helped me. Don't go if you are in a hurry. If you do go, wear comfy shoes, cuz' you gonna' wait even on a good day. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but I have to say I'm very frustrated my elderly parents are on their way to Florida and my brother is driving their RV with the truck behind it for them. They do have a sign that says no overnight parking for commercial trucks. Didn't mention anything about private so I actually went and bought a bunch of stuff because it's only the right thing to do and went to customer service and ask for permission from Dee Dee to park overnight in the parking lot she was very nice and said that was not a problem. However my brother got harassed at least three times about being there and by 3 o'clock in the morning he just decided to drive the RV to the J gas station to park overnight. My brother said all three times nobody identify themselves as working for Walmart. It's a holiday weekend and they needed a pool through site and there were none left in the area. Suggestion when you give someone permission to stay overnight in your parking lot because it's an emergency situation would be nice to maybe leave a note so others know. Dee Dee thank you for being so nice to the manager it was rude to my brother next time You need to identify yourself and respect the decisions that other managers have made be on the same page. As for the store didn't spend a lot of time in there and knew what we needed got it left I did not have to wait at the self check out line but looks like they have a few things I need to work on based on other reviews. This is your typical Walmart, with typical Walmart things. It is kept pretty well stocked, and is open 24 hours. That is good and bad. Being open 24 hours a day attracts a lot of unsavory people at night. Wouldn't really go i the late night hours unless you absolutely had to. read more

This store has got to get it together! They had a small fire two weeks ago and it's like they shut the store down forever. When they opened back up (after the two isle fire) they can't even replace their inventory! I would understand a small delay but it has been weeks and these people still don't have their crap together. I walked 15 feet away from my half full grocery cart for less than 30 seconds, and discovered a female employee was pushing my cart away, telling me "it's an abandoned shopping cart". Getting it back, I went through check out 3 at 08:02 AM on Aug 17, 2020 and checking my receipt when I got home, I was charged for six items when only five were in my cart. I was overcharged $3.63 by the cashier. Some of the staff here seriously need to be retrained, as they are driving customers away. I won't be returning. read more

This is a large store with a large parking lot located in front. This store has many products. We came here for grocery shopping and found everything we needed. The self service checking was easy to use. If you are looking for low cost clothing, and grocery items, including pharmacy products, then this is the store to visit. read more
