I used to shop here as I was under the false impression that their prices were significantly better then Target's. They are not. Case in point: Meguiar's car wax is $5.24 here and at Target......$5.24. What little (and I do mean little) money you save by shopping here, you trade a portion of your sanity and physical well being for. Maybe it's the claustrophobic aisles which are not wide enough for 2 shopping carts to pass through at the same time. And note that EVERY SINGLE MORON has a cart, regardless of whether they are buying a TV or if they are buying a pack of Kool-aid. So you're having to duck and dodge shopping carts left and right if you are a shopper of semi-intelligence. And maybe it's the general wal-mart population, which has been well-covered and documented by other reviewers. I will simply label them consumer zombies, as they shop as if it is one's only purpose in life and they don't have a care/concern for what goes on around them. Maybe it's checking out, where one could wait an eternity as all the cashiers are on break and those that are working SHOULD be on break for working so slow. Self check-out was a GODSEND until the consumer zombies discovered it. It's a simple principle. You pass an item over a scanner, it goes beep, and you place it in the bag. Simple, right? Even my 4 yr old nephew could handle that. Well it has proven too much for the consumer zombies. They'll stand there furrowing their eyebrows and rubbing their foreheads at this complicated, infernal device. "How does this thing work" they ask. Nevermind for the fact that everywhere we shop uses this thing and they MUST have seen it in action over some point in the course of their lives. But for people who have barely mastered the concepts of "push-and-pull" but have yet to comprehend "what goes up must come down", I guess I should be more forgiving. So I stand behind them, grunting and groaning, rolling my eyes, looking at my watch, waiting for the moment when I can escape this seventh circle of hell. So now I only go here maybe once or twice a year, in the odd event that they do have something that no one has. But I would pay twice the price for something somewhere else just to NOT have to go here. This place is a peril to mankind. read more

I just left Walmart on Plaza Parkway, Modesto. They now have all the mens shaving supplies and the womans cosmetics in a walled off area toward the Southwest corner inside the store. You have to go in and pay for everything you buy there and then you can go out into the store and buy what else you need. I was going to buy some cleaning supplies and clothes, Keyword WAS, but after the Cosmetic Prison, I decided to go to another store to shop, and it is not Walmart. I do not like being treated like a thief when I am surely not. This is the filthiest Walmart I have ever been in. The employees working here are always such a drag. Nobody seems happy, the lines are always ridiculous, and they always have people working slow (when they are even working). The only reason i shop here is because i can get my birth control for fairly cheap at the pharmacy. Every time my bf and i have to shop here we usually have a routine. When we park we promise each other that we will go in here with the best attitude we can and leave asap with whatever is left. Where do i EVEN begin!! 7/14 Purchased $91.08 food groceries at the checkout. My Golden 1 bank card was declined twice. The checkout accepted my Chase credit card. I got home to find my Golden 1 bank account was charged $91.08 twice and my Chase credit card was charged $91.08 once. I called the store to speak with a manager named Frank Graves. He said I need to come back to the store to get refunded the extra two $91.08 charges. I went to the Customer Service desk to speak with the head cashier and showed her my receipt. The head cashier did not give me a refund for the extra two $91.08 charges. She said I should wait until 6AM 7/15 and the extra charges will automatically be refunded to my bank account. I said ok and left the store. 7/15 This Walmart store still electronically deducted $91.08 twice from my Golden 1 bank account. 7/18 Returned to the Customer Service Desk with my receipt. Back office Customer Service cashier got a copy of my receipt but Walmart did not refund the extra two $91.08 charges. I asked for a manager. I spoke with Assistant Store Manager, Angelina, who said I need to call my bank to get the refund. 7/18 Called my bank, Golden 1 Credit Union. I spoke with Angela from Golden 1. She filed a claim with this Walmart store so I can get the two extra $91.08 charges refunded to my bank account. Angela gave me a confirmation number and said it could take 45 - 90 days for the extra charges to be refunded to my account. 7/20 Still waiting for Walmart to refund the extra two $91.08 charges to my bank account 7/21 Checked my Golden 1 Credit Union account. Almost every time I have gone shopping here I've had a hassle. Either the prices are ringing up higher than the sign or sticker says or the employee's are rude and speaking spanish to each other while helping me. The photo center is the WORST! This store gives the worse customer service I have ever seen! I ordered something online picked up in store same day...get it home it is missing parts. I call and they told me to return it and didn't know if they had anymore! Really??!! I get a manager he tells me they have the item in infants I can return and buy! Firstly, I ride a motorcycle, so I *have* to have a backpack to use as a trunk - as with any cycle, there is no trunk I can leave my bag in, so I *have* to take it with me in the store. However, I guess it's Walmart's practice to enforce sexist policies over at Plaza Parkway. I had no clue about this until a security guard approached me and informed me that they don't allow backpacks in the store. When I told him there was a woman who had one, he said that she had a a baby - if it's store policy, this should not matter. A policy is a policy, it is to be enforced equally, otherwise, there's a danger of the policy being enforced only if one is a certain color, gender, or in this case both. To put it simply, if you're male with a backpack, be prepared to hand it over or be harassed - if you're female however, it don't matter if you have a large bag or a backpack, you get a free pass to go on into the store, as evidenced in my pictures which I've enclosed. I understand why these policies exist, but these stores need to enforce them equally or not at all. Women are very much as capable as men when it comes to crime - and now, I can't help but wonder about the actual reason that Walmart started locking the beauty products marketed toward African Americans behind glass. read more

I come to this walmart only if there's a certain item I need because it's cheap. It's always crowded, probably because majority of the clientele does not have a job. I think the dress code to get in requires wearing your pajamas. Anyways, half the time they don't even have the items I need. The lines are always hella long and not to mention the cigarette smell from walmart employees out front of the door when you walk in. Disgusting! Go to target instead. read more

This Walmart is pretty comparable to any other Walmart. The store is relatively clean, and looks to be stocked well. I came in looking to by some ink and office supplies and unfortunately they had run out of the hp61 ink I was looking for. Walmart is usually hit or miss on their office essentials. Customer service was good, I asked if they had any ink in the back, and they took the time to go and check. I appreciated the effort. Lines are long, and like most Walmarts only 5 or 6 of their 24 lanes were open. Still the cheapest price in town though, if you can fight through the negatives you'll always come out a fiscal winner. read more

Worst Walmart ever! It is just poorly kept. My 3 year old had to use the restroom so bad. I took her in there and would not let her down to touch the floor. Paper was everywhere it smelled so nasty. Every single toilet was un flushed, clogged, and there were no seat covers what so ever. Honestly it looked like a tornado blew threw there. Let me start of by saying I always use this location for my business needs. Any and almost all supplies we purchase here on a weekly. I rarely use Walmart for my personal needs, BUT this week I had decided to return some clothes I bought for my sons in the Tracy Walmart location. After deciding these clothes will not be something they will be using I decided to return them during work. I work in Modesto and live in Tracy which leads most of my days hours being spent in Modesto. Anyways I go to return the items and they say they are not in their system and I would have to go back to my Tracy store! I was frustrated being this is a HUGE corporation and they should be 100% the same across the board. Meaning if I purchase an item an one Walmart any Walmart should accept the return since this is not a franchise. I ended up asking for a manager and she stood behind it is against company policy (BS). I wasn't looking for cash just store credit because I knew I didn't have my receipt. BUT NO. She refused which was disappointing know how much of the staff their I do like and have sold a few of them glasses for themselves and their families. I will now on my day off have to go to my home store location to resolve this issue. read more

As I walked in to the garden center I smiled at the lady checking people on the way out and she did not smile back or say anything. I encountered 4 more employees in the store and they did the same. Went here the other day to price match Lowe's price for Scott paper towel. The cashier was cautious, I totally understand since she is new and the price was really low. She called the manager named ISABELLE who has an attitude problem. I was patient and waited for couple of minutes for ISABELLE to approve my transaction but she said the price is too low and she wouldn't allow me to get even 1 item. She is rude and disrespectful. A simple "NO" from her would have been fine, I would simply walk away.Instead she sits there and talk to the other 2 cashiers. She was just on and on. I was raised to be kind and arguing in public is not my thing. I was totally embarrassed with the whole thing. I walk out empty handed and embarrassed. Never would I come to this store ever again. Avoid this store.....Go to Target! Walking into the store early one morning last week, the entire entrance smelled like vomit. I walked into to use the restroom but the stench was really bad, I decided to wait until I got home. When I went to grab a shopping cart, but there were NO disinfectant wipes to wipe off the cart handle, I went to the Return desk to see if they had the cart wipes, who sent me to the Payment Center and was told they did not have ANY cart disinfectant wipes. I asked to speak with the manager who explained she just came back from vacation and did not know it was empty. What a lame excuse. The BIGGEST retail store is unable to put out hand wipes? Had terrible service here at this Walmart used to be such a nice place I've been coming here since 2004 and never had a problem until this year I bought one item here and it didn't even have the product inside it was one of those skin pore strips and when I got home the box was empty this is my first time buying the product and I thought it was just light because of the strips and when I brought it back to Walmart they gave me a dirty look and said you bought it empty and I look at them like no I bought it and didn't notice until I got home when I went to use it. then my second incident was when I went to Walmart to buy an alarm clock about the set alarm clock for $28 and I got home cleaned out my car then got my stuff ready for work then I went to set the alarm clock so I can go to bed early I open the alarm clock and I know you guys think I'm crazy for buying a $28 alarm clock but this was a really nice alarm clock that shows the time that you would wake up and had a USB ports in it. it nice and simple so I like they anyways there was a different alarm clock inside the box I was Furious I was mad I was frustrated so I brought it got into my car took my friend with me and my kid to go return the clock so I can get the one that I bought when I went to return it I asked them if they could give me the clock that I had bought and they went to the back to see if there's an alarm clock that look like the one that was inside the Box and then when they came back they had a manager and assistant manager talk to me they said this wasn't an unacceptable we return and I said okay what does that mean they said it's unacceptable that you would bring back a different o'clock and I said hold on I did not bring back a Different clock. they said that this was an unacceptable returned they would not return it and I asked him why and he said well could you could have easily went home and switch out the alarm clock with your old one even though this one inside the box was brand new and I did not own an alarm clock and u can see floss in the photo it was taped! If it was new why would it be taped!!!!! I have 4 people who can vouch for me they said that i was probably the one that stole it and put it inside so I would come home with two of the same clocks I looked at them and I said how dare you accuse me of lying cheating and stealing all together and I said I have people who can vouch for me because they were home when I opened it that was unacceptable and we're not returning it there's no way in hell I would lose $28 over an alarm clock so what I did is I called corporate and said that they treated me badly because they did cuz my friend even went up to them and ask them what you guys can't help her return a clock why not? Isnt that's your job you're supposed to help but the manager ignore and walked away from her and everyone was ignoring us and I was over here crying and if I knew the manager's name I would report him anyways I called corporate and I told him how I was being treated and how embarrassed I was and then I went the next day and corporate said that I could get the alarm clock that I wanted and they already talk to another manager named Caesar and Caesar let me switch the alarm but the same managers that "helped me" to switch the clock out when they said it over the radio all the other Walmart workers heard it and someone responded when they didn't need to respond saying I bet you thats the alarm clock from last night and then as I walk to get my alarm clock to make sure it was in the box as I was walking to the section the manager was walking the same direction as someone stop them and said they went to corporate for stupid alarm clock and I turned around cuz I was already mad and Furious i said no I went to corporate because I spent close to $30 on the stupid alarm clock that wasn't in the Box again because your products were switched out by whoever the hell is switching them out I was already mad I usually am a nice person but once you start conflict with me by calling me a lier or cheater or accuse me of stealing something is not right and this was not right I feel horrible I feel like I was treated wrong so I went back I make sure I got my alarm clock and now I shop at the other Walmarts near Modesto and that's it but at this is one that i maybe return to every once in a great while if I really really need to but if I don't I'll probably be going to the one in ceres because they are much more friendly but just to warn all of you look inside your boxes make sure your products are there because they will literally look at you like you're some kind of dumb f*** idiot read more

Im pretty sure they were assembling some prepubescent tribe in the playground equipment section preying on any passerby's with nerf guns and dodge balls! Customer service? What? Yeah this word is a myth at this particular store. A asked a Staff who was in the same Dept for a product that I could not find and she told me that she could not speak English in English. Then I asked one of the managers in yellow vests to call out someone to assist me. I waited for 10-15 mins and no one came. This is not the first time it has happened so I had no option to share and see if others had same experience. If you know where the things are and don't need help from staff then you are good to go as I have experienced. read more

I just walked out this store and had an issue with one of the employees there named Karen who was a white aged woman... After we had paid and we were walking towards the exit she confronted me and my mothers and told us she needed to check our items. Then without asking permission or allowing me to translate what she was saying to my hispanic mother, she pulled the bag out of her hand and took it to check our items.. then we had to stay in the store for about another 15 minutes and we said we were in a hurry and we were taken to the return section of the store to return our items.. I don't know what was the reason for this, I dont know if it was because my mother is hispanic but we will DEFINITELY not be returning to this Walmart due to this worker. read more

I have been trying to report my lost card for about 9 hours now and have not been able to. I registered it and I have the receipt but can't get into my account without having the numbers on the card. If I had the card to get the numbers off of it I wouldn't need to report it lost because I would have the card. My daughter lost it on the flight from Ohio to Denver. She let me know as soon as she noticed it missing. I have been trying since then to report it lost. I went online but couldn't get into the account due to needing the card numbers. ( even though when I registered it I had to put my email and address it there) I called the number on the paper insert only to be told I needed the card numbers but had no option to talk to anyone as it is all automated. I can't email anyone because there is no email. I called customer service and was told to go to the store in which I purchased it because I have my receipt and they could help me. That is not so, I went around 10am to the Walmart on Plaza Parkway where I purchased it, only to be told that the manager that could help me would be in after 12 noon, I returned only to be told the same thing that they couldn't help. I tried online customer support only to be told to file a police report. The runaround I have been getting is so frustrating. I just want to report it lost and get a replacement. Is this what they do? Make this process so madding and hard that people just give up and they keep our money? If so this is just robbery. read more
